Staying Overnight- Sabriel

Summary:

Sam keeps getting left at the bunker while Dean and Cas are on a hunt, and Gabriel stays the night. What might happen between them if they're left alone....?

Notes:

I really don't know what this is, I just thought about it and had to get it out of my head so I had to write it down. Hope you like it

Work Text:

Sam watched Dean and Cas leave the bunker with a sigh. It wasn't the first time, and it certainly wouldn't be the last, where Sam would be left behind while the others worked a case. He didn't understand- it wasn't like he was sick or anything; for once he was perfectly healthy.

He went to the bunker library and grabbed an interesting looking book to read. Sam had read three chapters of the book when a familiar voice said something.

"Nerd." Gabriel appeared out from behind a bookshelf, and smiled at the tall hunter. "Hello, Samsquatch."

Sam rolled his eyes at the nickname. "What do you want, Gabriel?"

"Whyever might you think that I would want something?" The angel asked with a smile.

"Why else would you be here?"

"Can I not just want to spend time with my favourite human? I guess you'll be pretty lonely after getting left alone yet again."

"So I'm your favourite?" Sam asked cockily.

"Maybe." Gabriel elongated the word, for dramatic effect, likely.

"And you want me to believe you just came here because you want to hang out with me?"

"Yes, actually. Come on, I want to do something with you." The shorter man rushed forward and grabbed the moose's hands, pulling him to his feet.

"Where are we going?"

Gabriel stopped. He hadn't actually thought that far. Oh well, who could object to a bit of spontaneity? "Guess we'll find out." A snap of the angel's fingers, and then the two were somewhere completely different.

Sam raised an eyebrow at Gabriel. "Paris, really?"

"What? It's very romantic. Perfect for our date!"

"We aren't on a date, though."

"Would you like to be?" Gabriel flirted. The taller man couldn't help but blush. That made Gabriel smile. "You're not saying no."

"I'm not saying yes, either."

"You still didn't say no. Come on, I know of a great bar around here." Gabriel pulled on Sam's hand, leading him somewhere. Presumably to said bar.

"Another, please." Gabriel called. They've been drinking for half an hour, and Gabriel was starting to get drunk. Sam hadn't been drinking as much as Gabriel and was nothing close to a lightweight, so he was still basically sober.

"I thought angels couldn't get drunk." Sam said.

"I can if I try hard enough, Moose." Gabriel smiled at Sam's reaction to the nickname.

"Right. How many more until we can go?"

"Shhh." The angel put his fingers to Sam's lips to shush him. "We'll go back home soon, but only if I can stay the night. I don't have much to do. It's actually very boring being an archangel."

"I don't think you're boring." Sam muttered, thinking Gabriel couldn't hear it over the noise of everyone else. Unfortunately for him, he was wrong.

"Aw, you're such a flirt. And you're handsome." Gabriel rested a hand on Sam's hand, where it was on his glass. This made Sam blush. Thankfully, it couldn't be seen due to the dim lighting.

"Um. Okay." Sam was unsure of what to say. No one had ever made him feel like this. Not Jess. Or Amelia. Or anyone else he'd ever had feelings for over the years. Not that he had feelings for Gabriel, obviously.

"How about we get back? You're looking a bit tired."

Sam was feeling sad about not being able to spend time with the ex-archangel a little longer, but it was quite crowded in here, and was making him feel uneasy for some reason. So he didn't object as Gabriel snapped his fingers, sending the two of them back to the bunker. They landed in the library, where they departed from. Somehow, all the lights had been turned off, and it was now pitch black.

"Let's find the light switch." Sam said. While doing so, they crashed into each other and fell to the ground, Gabriel on top of Sam. "Um...."

"Hi." Gabriel said breathlessly. He snapped his fingers and the lights all turned on.

"Gabe...."

"Yes, moose?"

"Can you get off me? Please?"

"Huh. I thought you liked it. Guess not?"

"I- I didn't say that." Sam said quickly.

"So.... You did like it?"

Sam didn't meet his eyes.

"Sam?" It was the first time Gabriel had actually said his name and not some variation of it.

"Please get off me first, okay?"

"Alright." Gabriel did as Sam said, then helped him up.

"How about we talk about this in the morning?" Sam asked. "I'm very tired, which you so kindly pointed out before." Of course, Sam still wasn't tired, but he wanted to avoid the question right now. It didn't matter so much if he admitted he didn't mind it and definitely liked Gabriel in a more-than-friends way, but he was worried about how his brother might react to the news that he was attracted to the archangel who killed him over and over just for kicks.

"Please don't avoid the question." Gabriel whispered. Sam had never seen other "man" so vulnerable before.

"You gonna sleep with me?" Sam felt sorry for the other man, and he wanted them to talk, he really did, but maybe in Sam's bed. He knew it was a long shot that Gabriel would say yes, but-

"Yes. Obviously." He got out as fast as he could speak. "If you'd let me, of course."

Sam scoffed. "Come on, then." He held out his hand, which Gabriel took eagerly. The moose led the ex-archangel to his bedroom.

"Um, Sam-"

"I know you don't sleep since you're an angel, but I was still hoping that you could-"

Sam was cut off by Gabriel's lips on his own. It was a little aggressive, and caught Sam off guard, but he didn't pull away. Instead, he kissed back. When they pulled apart, Sam smiled. "I didn't know you felt like that about me. I thought my feelings were one sided."

"I didn't know you felt like that about me." Gabriel whispered. "I thought that all my flirt attempts were all for nothing. That I might be making you uncomfortable and you won't want to see me again."

Sam scoffed. "I guess I wasn't as obvious as I thought, huh?"

"I guess I wasn't either."

The next morning, Sam woke up to Gabriel snuggling into Sam's bare chest. He smiled fondly down at the sleeping archangel, and was too scared to move until the latter woke up.

"Good morning, my Samsquatch." Gabriel's voice was different than it usually was. More relaxed. Less guarded.

"Good morning, Gabe." Sam gave Gabriel a soft kiss. Then he heard something. Footsteps. "Do you hear that?" Sam was immediately on guard as he sat up in bed.

"Hear what? Other than your- wait yeah. I do. What is it?"

"People? How did they get the key?"

"Would it be your brother?"

"I doubt he'd be back yet. Let's go." Sam and a reluctant Gabriel got out of the bed and grabbed a weapon each. Sam reached for another t-shirt to throw on since it was a cold morning, and they went to investigate the noise.

It was in fact Dean, in the kitchen with Cas. Instead of running in an confronting them, they hid and watched as they appeared to comfort each other. Gabriel and Sam looked at each other with a shared look of gay?

When Dean and Cas kissed, they decided it was enough. Mostly just to piss their brothers off.

"Guys. You're back already? What happened?" Sam asked. He tried not to smile, as that would give it away that his brother and Cas were being watched.

"Oh. Another typical ghost. Just a simple salt-and-burn. Took two hours tops."

"So why did you take so long?" Gabriel asked. "'Cause we were out for over that time, and you guys weren't back."

Dean and Cas looked at each other.

"Busy." Cas said simply. Sam could've sworn Cas' eyes went to Dean's lips for a second, but he had nothing to prove it.

"Right." Sam obviously didn't believe the angel.

"Sam.... Samsquatch." Gabriel whispered in Sam's ear, as much as he could due to the massive height difference.

"Yes?"

"Do you want to tell them?"

"Tell us what?" Cas asked. The look on Dean's face was calculating.

"I don't know. I don't really mind." Sam whispered back.

Dean clearly guessed what was going on, and his eyes were flicking between the two of them. Their body language. The way they were so gentle to each other. Sam's smile each time Gabriel talked. "Oh my god." He pointed an accusing finger at his brother and the archangel.

"What is it, Dean?" Cas asked.

"You fucked my brother." Dean said to Gabriel, who smiled at him.

"Guilty."

"Gabriel."

"What? I thought you said you didn't mind."

"I don't. I just.... I don't know." Sam shrugged.

"I mean, it's not like we're exactly innocent, Dean." Cas said.

"Right. But.... It's different. He's my brother. Gabriel, if you hurt Sammy-"

"Dean. Shut the fuck up. Don't you go all big brother and make that speech, alright?" Sam said. Dean sighed, but stopped talking nonetheless.

Gabriel was getting bored of this conversation. "Should we do something fun?" Sam couldn't say no to the gleam in his archangelic boyfriend's eyes.
