The Great Circus ( let me go my dear )

Summary:

This is an AU, Malice Mizer if they were in a digital circus.. Not so much the original TADC thing, hence the lack of tag ( plus i doubt the tadc fans would enjoy bandmen rpf, would they? )

A computer... What could it do? He didn't remember getting there , nor the reason he was there.

The headset glowed brightly though, and he felt he needed to put it on...

He's met with a bunch of strange beings and is now stuck with them.

No worries though, it's just a game- he can leave!

Notes:

Helloo!! I have no idea if this is a good idea, but I want to write it anyways :]

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: How did I get here?

Chapter Text

A room.

He had NO idea where he was, or how he got here, but he knew he wanted to pick up the thing he saw there.

Something about it….

He wasn’t sure what it was, but it looked like some type of glasses, but thicker and more futuristic.

He’d been walking through the abandoned building for some time now, halfway along he really forgot where he was.

Did he though?

He may have remembered.

Did he though?

Did he now?

He took a closer look at the computer before putting on the weird glasses, seeing a type of video-game thing. “The Great Circus..” He read from the screen lighting up before him.

What could happen?’

He put it on, and immediately he found himself standing in a brightly coloured neverending looking circus tent, with graphics very reminiscent of a video game released earlier this year.

“Hey look, a new dude!” He heard from a voice behind him and turned around to see a kind of cat-jester thing. “I’m Közi, how about you?” The guy cheerily asked.

“Ehh… Not sure..”

That was weird.

Why didn’t he remember his own name?

“Oh yeah forgot that happened.” Közi grinned at him before shouting; “Hey guys, a new one!”

As he said that, He  found himself even more confused.. “I’m sorry what the fuck is going on?”

He tried to take off the glasses only to find that it didn't work..??? He really only was pulling on his eyes.

When he finally stopped and looked around with a panic-ridden chest he realized there were about 4 others standing around him; A type of doll-looking one, her face a pasty white, beautifully made up and ever so emotionless.

Next to them, there stood another person, with white feathers covering their body, including  long white examples forming a type of cape-looking structure and smaller ones on the back of his head reminiscent of hair.

He didn’t seem to have a mouth yet sound did come out of him. His ethereal blue eyes looking at him with a piercing gaze..

Next to him there was another, wearing a yellow-orange jumpsuit featuring long sleeves and shorts, his face being a floating sun.

In a way, he could tell where the sun was looking at , yet he did not have eyes on his face.

At last, A lion with a floating star on his forehead and a ring floating around his face–wearing a ringmaster outfit was floating next to them with his long tail dragging over the ground.

“Ah, you must be confused.” The lion started then, after they silently looked at him for a few seconds

“Please.. Explain what’s going on!”

The feathered one began then, his voice clear, but less androgynous and ethereal than he’d imagined. “You’re stuck here, man..”

“Yeah,” The sun chimed in; “You probably unknowingly put on the headset, and before you know it you were here and couldn’t get it off again.”

“Something like that yeah..”

“Well, then your life as you know it is over!”

“Ah.”

He didn’t exactly like his life before, he sure knew that.

What he didn’t like he didn’t know though..

It wouldn’t have been that bad, if it was real. The problem is, this was just a game!

It could not possibly be anything else.

‘Whatever, I’ll just see how it goes if I stay for a bit..’

“Let’s start off easy, what’s your name?” The lion guy floated towards him, until he finally stood face-to-face with him. “I’m… Not sure?”

“Let’s spin a wheel then!”

“I mean, okay..”

Suddenly, a wheel popped up, with separate letters on each part. The lion spun it four times, getting the letters K, M , A and I.

“Kmai!” The cat-jester exclaimed, before coming closer and putting an arm around him. It felt a bit weird, he felt a sort of extra limbs.. “That sucks.”  The cat giggled, and started rearranging the letters; “Amki”.. “Kima..”

“Kami!” Came from the winged creature, and everyone including him ( now Kami, apparently ) agreed.

“What are yours though?” Kami asked them since he’d never gotten them.

“I’m Kamijo!” The lion told him, smiling.

“Gackt.” The feathered one flashed him a smile.

“Közi!” came from the jester.

“Yu~ki, nice to meet you.” The sun said.

“I’m Mana.” The doll was the last one to speak, Kami finding himself ever-so confused by the low voice.

Apparently it was noticeable, because both Gackt and Közi started laughing. “He doesn’t speak a lot.”

“Sooo… What’s this all about- like what do you all do here?”

Közi started showing off a few tricks before telling him; “We perform acts for a digital audience to fill our days here, sometimes we go on adventures!”

“Don’t you all get tired of that though?” Közi thought about it for a bit before finally answering;

 “Neh.”

They’d talked for a bit, and Gackt was finally appointed to show Kami where he was going to sleep.

They walked through a hallway with doors on each side, showing pictures of characters with their faces crossed out.

“What.. Happened to these guys here?” Kami decided to ask, letting his fingers trail along them.

Gackt sighed; “They–betrayed us.”

“Okaayyy…. “

Concerning.’ Kami found himself thinking, it sounded scary but again–he could leave whenever.

“Here we are!”

They stopped at a door with an illustration of a butterfly-ish person, well–a shadow type of figure with a type of butterfly mask and bright blue eyes.

“Who’s that?” Kami asked, since he didn’t recognize himself. He usually had- er…

Hair, he knew he had hair.

Right?

“That’s you, dude!” Gackt smiled, before handing a key; “I wonder what your room looks like..”

Apparently Kami was a butterfly-creature now.

Huh..

Silently, he opened the door to be greeted with a hotel-esque room. There were quite a lot of mirrors with a bed in the middle against the wall and a hot tub somewhere else in the room too. The combination of this and the dim lighting made his room almost seem like a type of love hotel–somewhere he’d sworn not to come back to after that one time..

“Can we- change this?” He asked Gackt, who was looking around the room while Kami stood still at the doorway–to which Gackt sighed before answering;

“I get it’s not the nicest room, but you are as stuck with this as you are with your current body.”

“Body..” Kami mumbled. He was already noticing the amount of people treating this place as if it was their reality–chronically online gamers maybe?

“I gotta go now, I’ll leave you to the exploring!” Gackt started walking out leaving Kami in the doorstep, mildly concerned.

“Oh and–if you need help, just call for Kamijo and he’ll appear!”

Those were the last words Kami heard before Gackt was gone and he walked in, shutting the door behind him. “This has to be a type of safe spot right? Where  you save the files to the hard drive..?”

He decided to try it.

Sleeping must be the way to do so, he figured as he stepped into the bed and tried his best to fall asleep.

After a few minutes he realized that was hard, since the air was weirdly humid.. Weird..

He drifted off anyways though.
