Notes:

I know there's a lot of Little!Rumi fanfics out there and just as much as I like it, I do have a strong preference for Caregiver!Rumi and I think there needs to be more of those fics hehehehe.

So, this is the first fanfic of my Caregiver!Rumi series. If you have any suggestions or requests, feel free to drop them.

That's it for now and enjoy!!

Work Text:

Unfortunately, Mira and Zoey had fallen ill during tour. Zoey was dealing with another POTS flare, unsure of what the trigger was. She even had multiple heart palpitations one show, but she was fortunate to not have fainted. Mira was fatigued, nearly threw up backstage after dancing but luckily for Rumi’s emetophobia she didn’t. They hid it well so far. All they cared about was meeting fans, performing, and doing what they loved.

They hid their sicknesses as much as they could because they would hate having to cancel or even miss an interview. This may have been one of the only times they appreciated Rumi’s workaholic tendencies because they wanted to push through everything. For the fans.

Rumi had her own suspicions and had asked if each girl was okay throughout their current stop in Los Angeles. They both denied the suspicions and had insisted everything was fine. Rumi didn’t question them any further because she didn’t want to pry. She knew she would have being drilled like that, so why would she do the same? She digressed.

One day, they were both not only still feeling like shit but they were also feeling little. Normally being little never bothered Zoey but the issue was they were scheduled to do an interview. Mira on the other hand was pretty irritable with the mix of being sick and little while having an interview. Unlike Zoey, she was uncomfortable with being little as it was too vulnerable for her as her regressions were mostly negative. Zoey herself had a mix of positive and negative regressions, but today’s was definitely negative. Mira was still fighting her regression at the moment while Zoey had completely succumm to her little space, and she was really small today.

Rumi started to catch on that her girls weren’t feeling well and not just that, they were regressed. This may have caused her some stress, but she couldn’t blame them. She didn’t want to cancel the interview just as much as she was sure the other girls didn’t want to. They were going to share some exciting facts about their upcoming album that the world has yet to know and it was supposed to be fun. However, Mira and Zoey’s health was more important. She texted Bobby what was going on and to cancel the interview before meeting them back from the gym to their shared hotel room.

“Heyyy, how are my baby girls?” Rumi cooed. Ever since she found out about their regressions, Rummy could spot the signs and triggers. She knew being sick was a massive trigger to get them to regress. Rumi in fact liked when Mira and Zoey would regress whether it was one of them or both of them together. It made her more willingly take on her leader and unnie role in the group.

With that tone of voice, Mira’s eyes started to well up. Major discomfort growing as her headspace was fogging her mind. “I want my mommy...”

Mira and Zoey had a thing for calling Rumi mommy whether they were regressed or not. When they weren’t regressed, they called Rumi “mommy” as a joke since she was their oldest, but their adult selves still called Rumi “unnie”. Rumi herself didn’t mind being called mommy although it caught her off guard at first.

Ever since their hiatus, Rumi took on the role as their caregiver and really treasured it. Since they supported her in embracing her demon side, this was something she did in return and it was the best thing she could do.

Rumi frowned in an instant knowing the dancer was referring to her as her mommy. “Of course, my little cub. Is there anything else my baby needs?”

“ ‘nterview?” Mira asked.

“Oh yeobo, we have to cancel that. Two of my babies are sick and I would rather not go on my own and leave you guys alone while you’re so tiny,” Rumi explained.

In a regular circumstance, Mira would ask why she cancelled it. Especially without talking to them about it first but she didn’t say anything right now as she was trying to fight the headspace and trying so hard not to drop.

Just then, the vocalist then looked around slightly frantic, “Speaking of…where’s Zoey?”

Zoey had tried getting up from her bed, proving she can still take care of herself and go to the interview despite the circumstances. Rumi caught her and ran quickly to the maknae before she hit her head to the floor. Cradling her and wrapping her strong arms around her.

“Zoey…hi my baby….” Rumi cooed again, this time with her voice in a higher pitch. The perfect pitch to speak to a little so young.

Zoey looked at Rumi with a wobbled lip. “M-Mommy?”

“Yes my sweet, it’s me. You don’t look so good..” Rumi stated softly, which she was in fact right about. The maknae’s face was red, sweating and Rumi could’ve sworn she could hear her heart beat from afar. “Let’s get you to bed…come on…”

“Uppies?” Zoey asked, making grabby hands.

“I could never deny it,” Rumi chuckled before leaning over to hook her arm under Zoey’s knees, lifting her up and taking her to her bed and gently laying her down.

“No ‘nteview?”

“No baby, I’m sorry.”

Zoey’s lip wobbled again and Rumi sighed sympathetically, hugging her little girl tighter. Mira too pouted, not just from being upset about the interview. Also from being jealous that Zoey was getting all the attention at the moment. As Rumi noticed this, of course she made sure to give her other baby attention.

“Want to come sit on mommy’s lap?” she offered.

Mira looked up and paused, thinking about it before nodding slowly. With that, Rumi reached out an open arm and Mira did not hesitate to bury herself into Rumi. The half demon cupped the other girl’s cheek, noticing how warm she was too.

“Mir, do you want to take this off and put on something thinner?” asked, lightly tugging at Mira’s bear sweater.

In response, Mira looked down to see what Rumi was talking about before she shook her head no, immediately. God she loved that sweater so much even at her adult age, she was practically attached to it when little.

“Are you sure, baby? You’re sweating,” Rumi stated with concern before Mira shook her head no again, letting out a whine. Rumi gave in right after, not wanting to force her to do anything she didn’t want to do right now. If she was comfortable this way, so be it.

Zoey sat up from her bed and carefully crawled over to the other bed, collapsing onto the leader’s other side. At this point Rumi had sealed her own fate in getting sick herself. Although she never really got sick, it has happened before and she absolutely hated it.

Right now, her worry about getting sick wasn’t important. What was important is that she was here with her littles, helping them heal ad nurse them back to health the best way she could so they could get back to work as soon as possible.
