Ed doesn’t let her come with him on his quest, or tell her the full truth of where it leads him. He doesn’t ask her for advice or talk to her about how he’s feeling. But he comes to her, again and again, for this. Edward Elric does not need anyone’s help or support or kindness, but he needs a leg to stand on and an arm to work alchemy with, and he trusts Winry with providing them without a second thought.
This is the only thing Ed will let her do for him. And so she does it, and she does it excellently.
