Summary
Dean Winchester hasn’t loved many things. His car, his gun, pie. He hasn’t loved many people, either. Sammy, of course — he’ll always love Sammy — and his dad, in a convoluted way, and Bobby, and Lisa and Ben, but loving them hurt too much. He loved his mom, but he’d been alive without her for so long that he couldn’t quite tell if it was still truly her that he remembered and loved, or if it was the idea of her that John had always fought so hard to avenge.
He’s loved, and more often than not, he’s lost.
He doesn’t realize he loves Cas until he’s lost him, too.
