Work Text:
They had only been filming for an hour, but it barely felt like ten minutes had passed. It happened all the time when they would talk on Skype or in dms. Hours felt like minutes. Day would turn to night in the blink of an eye.
Time really was just a concept when Dan and Phil were together. And there was never enough of it.
And Phil had counted down the days, hours, minutes, seconds to when Dan arrived. Met him at the train station, showed him around, and brought him back to his house. The whole first day together blew by way faster than Phil had wanted. And now, it was the second day into Dan's trip. It was later in the night, and they had decided to film a Q and A together.
Phil had done his best to keep his hands to himself while they were filming. But as more time passed, it was getting harder and harder to do so.
Dan was just... so cute. He wanted to squeeze him like a stuffed animal.
And kiss him.
Dear God, did he want to kiss him.
They had had their first kiss the day before. And it had been everything he could have asked for and then some. Just thinking about it made his heart race and stomach flutter in anticipation of the next one.
He wanted to take things slow with Dan. He honestly wasn't even sure how Dan felt about all of this. About him. About visiting his home town. About anything they were doing.
But the way Dan kept smiling at him during the day, and now while they were filming... he had to be enjoying this.
Dan didn't seem to be that affectionate. Or at least, he was nervous to be. They had kissed earlier in the day, but it had only been a simple peck. But Phil was okay with that; because he himself wasn't sure he could handle much more.
Phil was just as nervous, and hoped Dan could tell. That way, they could be nervous together.
What Phil didn't know was that Dan was very nervous, almost buzzing with anxiety and not wanting to fuck any of this up. And not only that, he wanted to kiss him just as badly.
They were both so clueless about each other's feelings. One of them just needed to take the plunge.
As the clock ticked, Phil felt like he was going to explode with nervous-happy-ecstatic-horny-romantic energy. Seriously. Dan was right next to him and it felt like he was miles away. He just wanted to touch him. Even if it was just to hold his hand.
It didn’t help that ten minutes prior, Dan had touched Phil's chest, pushing him softly away from the camera and to the ground. Phil remembers looking up at Dan, and his legs had involuntarily opened more. He had wondered if his eyes were conveying the message he wanted to tell Dan: Kiss me.
And the look Dan gave him - his eyes snaking up and down Phil's form... Phil planned to memorize every second of that moment forever. Replay it over and over again until the world ends.
Which would be soon if he didn’t kiss Dan.
"What question should you answer next?" Dan asked, bringing Phil out of his thoughts.
"Um…” Phil cleared his throat, then looked down at the paper in Dan’s hands; the one with all the questions on it. “How about the haunted house one?"
Dan agreed, asking about it. He then pulled Phil's camera off of its stand - a bunch of books and a random shoe box - and started giving a tour of Phil's house.
Maybe that's what he needed. To get up and move his legs. At least then he could get a break from the nagging voice in the back of his mind begging him to kiss Dan.
He promised that voice he would, just not now. If it would hold out a little longer, he would give it a cookie.
The voice in his head thought that sounded fine.
Phil's eyes never left Dan's body as they wandered the halls of his house. He wasn't objectifying him... too much. He thought Dan was very pretty, with a nice body to match. He couldn't help but smile at him, watching him making fun of his house.
He shouldn't find this amusing. This was his home, after all. But he couldn't care. It was Dan. His favorite person. In his home. Finally. Was he joking about it and showing it off to random internet strangers? Yes. But nonetheless, he was here.
And the only thing that would make this better... would be kissing him.
Oh my God, shut up!
Phil squeezed his eyes, rubbing them. Dan handed the camera off to him, walking over to a step master that his mom owned. He stepped onto it, using it for a couple seconds. Phil filmed it, laughing at how silly Dan looked, cat whiskers and all, using it.
He looked very kissable, one would say.
Phil turned the camera off, taking a deep breath. Dan looked at him, hoping off the step master. “You okay?”
He rubbed the back of his neck. “Yeah. Um, do you wanna go back to my room?”
Dan smirked, “How forward of you, Philip Michael Lester.”
Phil blushed at the sound of his full name. He liked how it sounded coming from Dan's mouth. “How do you know my middle name?”
“You told me it like two weeks into us talking, dummie.” Dan teased.
“Oh. I don't remember doing that.” He admitted bashfully.
He placed his hands on his hips, “I told you mine. What is it?”
“James.” He answered quickly.
“Wow. Look at you having a long term memory that functions.” Dan joked.
Phil licked his lips, looking into his eyes. “You know why I remembered it?”
“Why?” He asked.
“Because I thought it sounded cute.” He beamed.
He narrowed his eyes at Phil. “You think the name James is cute?”
“No. But Daniel James Howell? That's a pretty cute name.” Phil flirted.
Dan lowered his gaze, his voice softening. “...No it's not.”
“Yes it is.” Dan opened his mouth, but Phil cut him off, grabbing his arm gently. “Ah ah, don't argue with me. It's my house.”
He snickered, “Whatever.”
Dan's fingers brushed Phil's as he pulled from his grasp, sending a shockwave up his arm and to his heart. Honestly, he wouldn't have been surprised if he had been electrocuted right in that moment, because that's how it felt. Like a faulty plug connected to a crappy GHD.
He took another deep breath, following Dan back up the stairs to his bedroom. He could do this. He could hold on until they finished filming their video to kiss him.
They sat back down on the floor of his bedroom, Dan fixing his hair in the webcam pulled up on Phil’s laptop. And Phil placed the camera back on its stand, making sure it looked right as he turned it back on.
Dan picked up the piece of paper again, reading over the questions he wrote down. “I swear, sometimes I can't even read my own writing.”
Phil watched him through the webcam screen, something he knew he had done the whole video. Eventually, he turned to Dan, looking at him fully. Dan hadn't looked up yet, still reading over the questions he had written down. He eventually glanced up, giving Phil a small smile, and went back to reading.
That smile. That small, adorable smile. It made Dan's dimple pop out for a split second.
And that's all it took for something in Phil’s brain to snap.
He reached his hand out, “Can I see the paper?”
“Sure.” Dan murmured.
Phil pretended to read it over, pointing to a question. “What about this one? ‘You and Phil should kiss.’”
He furrowed his brow at him, “What? I didn't write that-”
“It says it right there. ‘You and Phil really need to kiss on camera.’ I can't believe someone would ask something so invasive.” Phil faux gasped, looking at the camera. Then he shrugged, “But since it's on the paper, I guess I gotta answer it.”
Dan breathed, “Phil-”
Phil crashed his lips onto Dan's, smiling into the kiss. Dan let out a muffled laugh, pulling back for only a moment before meeting Phil's lips again. They settled into the kiss, moving slowly. Phil sucked Dan's bottom lip lightly, sneaking a taste of it for just a second. He tasted sweet like mint gum, with just a touch of heaven.
Dan's hand cupped Phil's face gently, holding him close. His tongue teased Phil's lips, asking coyly for more. Their tongues met a breath later. A noise from each of their mouths fell; Dan's only slightly louder than Phil's.
They pecked and kissed, tasting each other as their tongues danced with one another. Phil's hand drifted to Dan's side, cupping his hip gently. Dan's other hand ran up his arm, gripping the shoulder of his shirt for dear life.
Dan felt like he was falling, and Phil felt pulled by the fall. Dan's back hit the carpet with a soft thud, Phil's body suddenly on top of him. Their legs tangled, their hips perfectly aligned.
Phil could feel his face heat up from Dan's warmth and the hotness of their breaths. The hand still cupping Dan's hip had slid up just slightly, touching the soft skin of Dan's side. He moaned against Dan's tongue, his mind reeling at the new sensation.
Dan's fingers tangled in Phil's hair, tugging at the base of his neck sensually. He was completely lost in the kiss, and the only way out was to keep kissing Phil. And never let it stop.
It was like the world disappeared and it was just the two of them. The only universe Dan and Phil wanted to exist in.
Heat flooded the lower half of Dan, suddenly waking him up from his kiss with Phil. With all the strength in his body, he reluctantly pulled back. He had to keep Phil at an arm's reach, since he tried to kiss him again. His chest heaved shallow breaths, his body tingling everywhere. “We... have to stop.”
Phil blinked rapidly, searching Dan's face with his blown out pupils. “I-I'm sorry, did I do s-something-?”
“No. No. Um, we just have to stop.” Dan looked away bashfully. “Unless, of course, you plan to upload this to a different website other than Youtube.”
Phil looked at him quizzically. Dan's eyes drifted back to the camera, still on and recording. It suddenly hit Phil what they had been doing; what they were still technically in the middle of.
He gaped, “Oh my God, I'm so sorry!”
He sat up quickly, his face flushed and lips more pouty than before as he looked at himself on the laptop screen. Dan followed suit, his eyes unable to look at Phil. He chewed his lower lip, his dimple appearing as he bit back his smile.
“You have to stop doing that.” Phil sighed, his voice deep.
Dan scrunched up his face, “Doing what?”
“Looking... cute. It makes it really hard to not kiss you.” He stated.
“Is that what happened? I just looked too cute to not kiss?” He questioned, playfully glaring at Phil.
He nodded, “Exactly.”
“You're so weird,” Dan grinned. “You're definitely cutting this part, right?”
“Yeah, of course.” Phil laughed, reaching for the camera and turning it off.
“You should send it to me though.” Dan’s eyes widened for a split second, then he added. “Like the whole video, not just this one clip.”
“Right. You just want the unedited version for…” His voice trailed off.
He finished. “Reasons.”
“Reasons. Gotcha.” Phil smirked.
He blinked, changing the subject. “Your nose is gone.”
Phil looked at the laptop to see his nose had smudged off significantly. He looked at Dan through the webcam. “Yours too.”
“You think anyone will notice?” He stared at himself on the laptop, moving his head back and forth.
“Probably not. I doubt anyone is gonna care that much about this video.” He shrugged, leaning back.
Dan agreed, glancing back down at the paper. “We still have some questions left. Actual ones. If you wanna answer them.”
Phil smiled, turning the camera back on. “Sure. What's next?”

The next day, a couple hours after Dan left, Phil had begun editing the video they did together. He had barely been without Dan for twelve hours and he wanted to see his face again.
He had decided on the title 'phil is not on fire', a combo of both of their usernames. As he edited it, Dan called him. He grinned at his name popping up on Skype.
“You made it home alive.” Phil mused.
Dan giggled. “I did. What are you doing?”
“Editing our video.” He beamed.
“You gotta send me it when it's done. Before you post.” He requested.
“Of course.”
They talked for a while, mostly about nonsensical things. As Phil chopped up the video, he came across their kiss. He watched it intensely, forgetting that Dan was on the other side of the screen, watching him edit.
“You okay there, Phil? You haven't blinked for like three minutes.” His tired voice jested.
He snapped out of it, sucking in a breath. “Oh, um. Yeah. Just zoned in on the video.”
After they stopped talking hours later, he took the clip out of the video, saving it separately. He uploaded it privately to his channel. He titled it lol :P and once it was ready, he sent it to Dan.
The next morning, Dan woke up to Phil's message. He watched the video, a bit confused at first. This was what they filmed at his house, but it was super short; only like two minutes long. His eyes widened as he watched them kiss each other a second later, his body growing hot instantly.
His eyes fixated on their bodies, pressed against one another tightly. He could feel Phil’s phantom lips on his, if he thought about it hard enough. He shuddered a breath, before laughing to himself. He sent Phil a text, his mind thinking of his lips.
any way i can see you before halloween? idk if i can wait that long
