Work Text:
Legundo let out a deep sigh as he finally returned to his dorm. Classes had been hell, and he really just wanted this day to be over. Unfortunately, he hadn't been able to keep up with taking notes during class. A sharp, yet familiar pain in his hand as well as a mounting headache kept him from staying on task. He took off his shoes and left them by the door.
While working may not have been the best choice, being behind made him restless regardless of his own condition. It was fine, he just had to get this done. He was about to take a seat at his desk when he heard a sharp scratching sound. His brows knitted together in confusion as he looked around. He paused as he realized it was coming from his window.
A small smile fought to make it onto his face as he went over to open the window. As expected, a bat clung to the outside of the window sill. A bright spot for his miserable day. "Coming to bother me?" He stepped back to let the animal in.
The cute bat made no move to enter, but fluffed up slightly. "Legs…" Scott whined.
Legundo tilted his head in confusion before he came to a realization. "Oh, right. Come in." He often forgot about that aspect of vampirism despite the fact that, if not for it, he'd probably come back to Scott waiting in his room for him often. An idea he didn't find himself minding as much as he should.
Immediately, Scott perked up. Taking off to swoop around the small room before landing atop Legundo's head. he nestled into his short hair with a squeak. "Good thing you're cute, really the only reason I put up with you."
Legundo rolled his eyes, amused by Scott's ever present dramatics. He reached up to gently scoop the other off of his head. He had gathered that vampires were much more resilient than humans, but had no clue if that carried at all to their bat forms. Regardless, he was always careful when Scott was in this form, worried about accidentally hurting him. He sat him down on a cleared off space on the right side of his desk. "Of course. Is something up? I have to get work done." He asked as he turned to retrieve a heavy textbook.
Scott swapped out of bat form, now sitting on the edge of the desk with his legs crossed. "Whaat, do I need a reason outside of missing you?" He grinned as he leaned forward. Of course it wasn't a lie that he missed him, he'd have a hard time not missing him even if there weren't an inch of distance between them. No, he could tell something was up with Legundo today.
Legundo wasn't surprised, even before they became close Scott was finding one reason or another to run into him. He had momentarily forgotten about his problems until his hand gave out, making him drop the textbook he was taking to his desk. Legundo scowled, letting out a noise of frustration. He couldn't stand his own body not listening to him.
Before Legundo could even begin reaching for it, Scott grabbed the book and set it on the desk himself. Keeping one hand on it, he looked back over to him. "Are you alright?" Scott asked with a tilt of his head. At this point, he thought it was an emotional issue. Something Legundo was too in his own head about.
"I'm fine." Legundo could tell he had responded a hair too quickly from the way he received a raised eyebrow in response. He took a breath to even himself out. "Thank you." He added on with less tension. He approached the desk, but Scott now stood directly behind the chair for it. "Now, can I get to work?"
Scott studied him for a long moment. Despite still being unconvinced, he relented, and took back to his perch beside the workspace.
Legundo gave a sigh of relief. He sat, opening both his notebook and textbook before grabbing a pen from a cup full of them. He could feel Scott watching over him as he stared down at the paper. He was about to start writing when he paused. His hand was very noticeably shaking and his grip was weak. Annoying.
Scott, of course, noticed as well. He rested his own hand on top of Legundo's, stilling the shaking at least. "Legs," He leaned in, concern lining his voice. "There's something up, tell me what's wrong."
Legundo didn't look at him as he replied. "I just have to get this done."
Scott huffed. He brought his hand up to Legundo's chin, tilting his head up to force them to look one another in the eyes. "Legundo." He said with a voice of warning. They both ignored how Legundo's heart rate picked up at the action. As well as the flush brought to his face, even if Scott couldn't help but notice how pretty he was like this. It brought his mind back to his time with the doctor.
Legundo dropped his gaze. "It's some hand pain I deal with. It's not a big problem, I can get this done."
Scott's face soured. His first thought was that he wouldn't have to deal with this as a vampire. No, not yet. He disregarded it. "I expected better from someone trying to be a doctor." He took the pen out of Legundo's hand. He knew the other was aware of his own hypocrisy. That wouldn't stop him from pointing it out.
Legundo had no defense to the accusation. He pulled away and reached towards the cup of pens, only for it to be quickly snatched out of his reach. "Really?" He asked as he leaned back to better look at Scott.
"Yes 'really'. Now," He set the cup down, hand securing any pens from being taken. "You have two options." A grin crept onto his face. "You go lay down yourself, rest. Or I make you."
Legundo's mouth fell open as he protested. "I don't-"
"Great choice!" Scott replied as he stood. It was no effort pull out the chair and pick up him up bridal style.
"Scott!" Legundo was immediately turned into a flustered mess, as he futilely tried to cover his reddening face with his hands. Scott found it incredibly endearing, he took a moment to admire him. That was until he noticed the afflicted hand still slightly shaking. Right, he had a mission. The fact that he got to see the man he loved look like this was just a bonus.
He carried Legundo ever to his bed and set him down gently. The thought came to mind in that moment of just how weak, fragile humans were in comparison. Not the time to consider something like that. He untangled his arms from beneath the man. Their faces still close enough for Scott to feel his breath, he spoke quietly to Legundo. "Now stay."
As Scott began to pull away, Legundo placed his good hand onto his shoulder to stop him. The vampire regarded him with curiosity, waiting to see what he would do. To his very pleasant surprise Legundo pulled him into a kiss. Scott brought a hand up to cup Legundo's face, and the other leaned in more in response.
Once the two separated, Legundo breathing slightly harder than he had been before, Scott let his gaze fall to Legundo's neck. He hadn't really even meant for his eyes to drift, but he couldn't claim there was no reason behind it. When their eyes met once again, Legundo swallowed before giving a slight nod.
With a sharp smile, Scott lowered his head down to his neck. He peppered gentle, feather light kisses across it. Be careful with him. Legundo leaned into the kisses, causing Scott's sharp fangs to scratch against his pristine skin. The action revealing that he had wanted something more. Scott pulled back with a laugh. "You're just as bad as me, aren't you?"
Legundo looked away, mumbling something that sounded almost like a "maybe". He didn't want the moment to end, but had to admit his long ignored exhaustion was catching up with him.
The two sat in silence from there. Scott had settled into a comfortable position, sitting by the bed as his upper body leaned onto it. His eyes almost glittered with love as he watched Legundo.
The world was falling away as Legundo's eyelids grew heavy. His eyes were fully closed when he used the last of his energy to say one final thing. His tired mind thought of it as the most important thing in the world.
"You know, you're welcome here anytime."
And he drifted off.
