Work Text:

If there was one thing Theta Sigma did not do, it was fall behind in class. Unfortunately, that was what they were doing right now. It was unfair, really. Any of the weird Time Lord mind stuff was so difficult, despite being one of the very basic skills a Time Lord possessed. Koschei was an expert at mind manipulation, which was so not fair. Which meant that they had to swallow their pride and ask Kos for help.

“You need help?” Koschei asked. “With what? You excel at everything. What could you possibly need my help with?” Theta mumbled something. “What?”

“I said I need help with the mind control stuff! I suck at it! I suck at any actually practical Time Lord abilities! I suck at being a Time Lord!” Theta yelled. Koschei stared at them and then began to laugh. Theta glared at them, their face hot from embarrassment.

“The almighty Theta needs my help?” Koschei smirked. Theta didn’t see why they had to be such a twat about it. They were friends after all—even if Theta wanted something a little more than friends—and friends helped out friends, right? Right? Surely Koschei wouldn’t decline helping?

Koschei stood up and moved to sit on Theta’s bed, leaning in so close that Theta could feel their breath in their hair. Their heart skipped several beats and their face flushed as Koschei leaned in so close that their lips were almost touching—“Yeah I’ll help you,” they said, pulling back.

“What was all that for?” Theta asked, trying to stomp out the tremor in their voice.

“You had a twig in your hair,” Koschei said, like it was obvious. “I’ve told you to quit rolling around outside without taking a shower afterward.”

“Oh,” was all Theta had to say.

“Yeah, anyway, let’s get on with it,” Koschei said, placing their hands on either side of Theta’s head. Theta gulped and nodded, their pulse speeding up again. “I’ll just show you how to do it first and then you can do it on me,” they said, closing their eyes. “If you could relax, please, that makes it a lot easier.” Theta wasn’t sure how they could relax when Koschei, who they had a very big and continued crush on was only centimeters away and holding their head. “What do you know about mind control?”

Theta swallowed, hard. “Uh—usually it has to be done physically, like this, but you can also form a psychic bond with someone and you can access each other’s thoughts without touch and usually from a pretty long distance away, depending on how skilled you are.”

“That’s good to know,” was all they said in reply.

Theta swallowed again, pressing their thighs together. They could kind of feel the other Time Lord probing around in their thoughts now that they were somewhat more relaxed. They tried to clear their mind of anything they didn’t want Kos to see, but considering that Kos was currently touching them, it was not working very well. In fact, this was a horrible idea, because Theta’s heart and mind were racing at thoughts of Koschei. Why did they think it was a good idea to let the Time Lord they had a crush on poke around in their thoughts?

They swallowed again, nervously. They needed to stop doing that. They watched Koschei’s brow furrow before they let out an, “Oh,” as their eyes fluttered open. ‘Oh’ was right, because Koschei had definitely seen something Theta didn’t want them to see, and it was definitely something about how Theta had a crush on them, and Theta had just ruined their friendship and their life, and they were now going to have to go live in the mountains like a hermit while reflecting on how they could ever be so stupid, and—

Koschei’s hands were on their face again. But not in the mind stuff way. In the cradling way. Theta snapped out of their thoughts and stared at them through their lashes. That was really all the warning they got before Koschei leaned in and kissed them. They tasted exactly how they had imagined—not that they’d imagined it a lot, obviously, that would be weird! Theta melted into the kiss as Koschei’s hands moved from their face to the small of their back. They leaned into Koschei as though they could get lost in the way that they tasted.

Eventually, Koschei broke the kiss. “You didn’t need to do that because you felt sorry for me,” Theta said.

“What? No. Rassilon’s balls, Theta, I’m not kissing you because I feel sorry for your enormous crush on me—” Theta blushed profusely, “—I’m kissing you because I like you and I want to kiss you.”

“Oh,” Theta said, quietly. “Carry on then.” And they did.
