Work Text:
"You know Clown, there was a wedding the other day," Branzy says, mostly to just break the silence of their mining session – with only a hint of an agenda attached to it.
"Here, as in on this world?" Clown questions.
"Yeah - between Evbo and Infume, someone called it a Speedrunner wedding; I wonder what they would call ours?"
"Hmm, well hopefully something more interesting than that."
"Agreed," laughs Branzy.
(two hours later)
"Could I ask what made you bring up the wedding before?" Clown asks, they have been alone, just caving for hours but the openness of him asking makes Branzy do a quick look around, which makes Clown laugh a little.
"Just catching you up on one of the things you missed – it was actually very messy, with a lot of standing around beforehand and a lot of dying immediately afterwards," Branzy replies.
"Sure sure, just checking to make sure that's all it was" Clown says in his indecipherable tone of voice.
Branzy knows he didn't bring it up for no reason; there is no world where he brings up marriage in a conversation with Clown Pierce without there being some meaning behind it – but there's only about five days left of this world and who knows the next time they will see each other, so Branzy bites his tongue and just gives Clown a grin and an awkward hip bump, "I think it's probably best we focus on mining for now, don't you think?"
Clown grunts in acceptance; but it does take him several moments to break away from whatever version of eye contact the two of them had been locked in. But he does; and so does Branzy.
