Chapter Text
“I’m sorry, Harry. I can’t do this anymore.”
As Ginny walked out the door, Harry only felt relief. Now he could focus fully on his real problem.
“Severus.”
“How many times have I told you, Potter? I want none of it!”
“Please. Is there anything I can do? Anything at all I can do to change your mind?”
“Seeing as you appear twenty years my junior, no. I cannot see you that way. I don’t know what you expect from me!”
“We can fix that.” Harry said as if he’d had an epiphany.
“What nonsense are you spouting now?”
But Harry didn’t seem to have heard him. He looked back at Severus, a gleam in his eye. “I’ll see you soon, Severus.”
Severus had a bad feeling about this…
The same time the following week, Severus opened his door with irritation, ready to fend off yet another overture by the young Potter attempting to play Father with him, when what met him was quite a surprise indeed.
Gone was the young man he knew. In his place was a man who appeared twenty years Severus’s senior. A wizard with shaggy grey hair and green eyes. He seemed to be slightly older than the version of Potter Severus had seen in his office a year prior, but that it was the same man was undeniable.
“P-Potter? It’s you, isn’t it? What is the meaning of this?”
“Hello, Severus,” Harry smiled. “May I come in?”
Shocked speechless, Severus stepped aside. The older man gave him a warm smile. “Thank you,’ Harry said as he let his eyes move around Severus’s living space. Severus had not even let him enter the house until now.
Severus gritted his teeth. “I ask again, what is the meaning of this?”
Harry pierced him with those damnable green eyes. “I needed to show you I’m sincere, Severus. I understand that as things were, there was no way you could possibly bring yourself to see me as a father. But I thought perhaps like this… we could have a chance.”
“An aging potion? Are you insane? That will shorten your lifespan considerably! And how far have you aged yourself, exactly?”
“By forty years, give or take. I would estimate I’m around sixty, perhaps a bit more.”
Severus sputtered, a vein in his forehead twitching at the way Harry's hand trembled as he lifted his teacup to his mouth.
Harry lifted a hand to stop Severus’s stream of protests.
“I am not quite as foolish as you think, Severus. This is a glamour, not a true aging potion. It will not impact my lifespan.”
Severus sighed. “Thank goodness for small miracles.”
“Well? What do you think? If I appear like this when we are together, do you think that could help?”
“So what, you wish to spend half your life glamoured to appear as an old man?”
Harry smirked. “My, Severus, half my life? I didn’t expect you’d allow me to spend that much of my life around you, glamour or no glamour.”
Severus scowled.
“But you didn’t answer my question. What do you think? Does this glamour make it easier to make the switch? To think of me as your father?”
Severus sighed. “I suppose… it does, yes.”
Harry beamed. “Excellent. Then get used to this, Severus. You’ll be seeing a lot of this version of me.”
“Perish the thought,” Severus said, but his voice devoid of heat.
Super goofy short one shot alternative to my serious continuation. Hope you enjoyed it! Let me know if you want anything else along this vein :)
