Dr. Wily used force, and he used robot might
To take over the city, it was dark day and night.
Dr. Light did not like it. He wished to fight back.
“But how can I fight him? How shall I attack?”
Light thought, and he thought,
and he thought thought thought thought.
“I know,” he said. “I will build a strong bot!”
He liked that idea. Oh, he liked it a lot.
For twelve years he worked hard, twenty floors above town,
To build a machine that could take Wily down.
Light worked on his plot, he worked on his plan.
He soldered and welded and built Protoman.
“If he can't beat Wily, I bet no one can.”
Then Protoman went to the city to fight,
To fight for the people, to fight for what's right.
He went into battle crying “Hope rides alone.”
Behind his dark visor, his robot eyes shone.
Cutman had blades, and Gutsman was big.
Elecman shot energy that would zag and then zig.
Bombman threw bombs, and Fireman was hot.
Iceman was icy, a cold-hearted bot.
Metal on metal, the fight was intense.
No one came away without punctures or dents.
But when the smoke cleared, the air smelling of lead,
The whole city could see that Protoman was dead.
And nobody mourned for the robot in red,
They just mourned for themselves, crying, “We are the dead!”
