Work Text:

Annabeth sat on the dock, staring up at the stars. She couldn't sleep, afraid of what terrors the nightmares would bring.

Ever since Tartarus, she had constant flashbacks of the place in her sleep, making it impossible for her to fall into slumber, no matter what. She looked out to the water, watching the stars and moon reflect off of the slow rising waves. A breeze drifted through, sending shivers up her spine. Annabeth regretted not taking a blanket with her, or at least a hoodie. She was only in a short sleeve sleeping shirt and matching shorts.

Suddenly, a warm fabric wrapped around her and strong arms pulled her back. Annabeth turned around and came face to face with none other then her boyfriend, Percy Jackson. “Couldn't sleep?" Percy asked quietly as he pulled her onto his lap. "No, and I'm assuming you couldn't either." Annabeth replied, before burying her face into his chest. "You always were a Wise Girl." Percy said with a smile, and then wrapped his arms around her waist. They sat for awhile, gazing at the stars, wrapped in each others arms.

"Whenever I see the stars, I think of him." Annabeth said softly after a few minutes of comfortable silence. "I do too," Percy replied, thinking of their friend Bob, stuck in Tartarus. "I think of how happy I am that we are out of that place, but also how sad I am that he is still there."

Annabeth nodded in agreement, before looking back up at the stars. "Bob says hello," she muttered, smiling at the blinking dots in the sky. Before she knew it, she was asleep in a dreamless, peaceful state.

Percy immediately noticed her breathing slowing down and gently picked her up, bridal style. He knew he could never bring her back to the Athena cabin. Just in case someone woke up, because that would need a lot of explaining. So he decided to bring her back to his cabin, since it was empty.

He placed her down in one of the free beds, and as he was walking towards his, he heard Annabeth murmur his name. He rushed to her side and saw beads of sweat pouring down her face. He gave her a big hug, and she immediately calmed down. He realized that she needed him, so he curled up with her and got under the covers.

He placed his arm over her, pulling his girlfriend closer to him. Then, he too fell into a dreamless sleep, them both in a safe paradise, A.K.A, each others arms.
