You know how I told you the Campbells from next door have decided to downsize now that their kids have all flown the nest?
Well, it took them a while, the initial asking price was a bit ridiculous, frankly.
I mean the house was built in the 70s, they were already living here when your dad and I bought our place.
And it’s not like they were very diligent about the upkeep, I mean the back garden alone is a mess!
The roof has never been replaced as far as I know.
And don’t even get me started on that interior reno they did … Carpet over that lovely herringbone?!

The new owner agreed to give them a couple of months to move out, so we’ll be having a bit of a neighborhood farewell party for them some time next month.

We finally have a name!

The ownership information for the lot has been updated, so we managed to get that much.

There’s a few hits for that exact name, mostly Russian. But I’ve only found one living in North America.
Looks like he moved here from the States not too long ago.
He works for a luxury car dealership that I know has been expanding into the Canadian market these last few years. I saw they’re opening a new branch in Ottawa, so I assume he’s here for that.
And since he bought the Campbell place, he’ll probably be staying here a while.

We didn’t discuss the timeline.

And he is indeed very good looking.

I’m not a fan of these modern builds generally, but I have to say, it’s not too bad.
I was scared he was going to build something that is all blocky concrete and glass walls, but it fits surprisingly well into the existing neighborhood.
Must’ve had a good architect.
He kept all the trees and the new landscaping looks miles better than the overgrown jungle the Campbells were neglecting before.

It’s all natural wood and dark gray surfaces with a bit of light stone and a few pops of color. Very sleek and modern, very wealthy bachelor.
But then the whole back of the house is all windows, a deck overlooking the rest of the property, which he fenced in, but has a lot of foliage, so it looks natural.
I mean it’s pretty much your cottage but on steroids, minus the lake.

We started with a bit of free skating around the pond to make sure it really was safe for larger groups.

Old historic buildings lots of government but size is very different
Winter is more like russia which is weird but good weird
