Summary
He resolved right then and there that he would not find himself as naive and inconsiderate as Epimetheus. Never again. Instead he would remake himself into Prometheus. Forethought. A man who would not be caught unawares again, one who would act without letting himself be deluded to the reality of his circumstances. When next James chose to go for the fire, he would not be taken aback by the eagle’s arrival, he would instead be prepared for it. He would be sure to conceal a set of lock-picks before finding himself in a position to be chained down. He would be armed and ready to defend his liver from voracious, aquiline beaks.
But before that, he would indulge himself in one last spontaneous, reactive impulse, unfettered by the cool rationale of reason. Like Pandora herself, James would choose to open the box again, even when knowing about the evils and malices it had unleashed upon him the first time around.
(Not exactly set in the Young Sherlock storyline, but 100% based on Dónal Finn’s brilliant portrayal of Moriarty)
