Chapter Text
It was dead into the night, the 3am moon high in the sky casting a faint glow onto the town of Yokohama. At a port by the sea somewhere deep into the outskirts of the city, Dazai was on a high. Not high on drugs (he had quit that when he left the mafia) but high on adrenaline. The electrifying satisfaction shooting through his veins with every bullet he dodged as he sped down every twist and turn at the abandoned port as fast as his legs could take him, his enemy hot on his trail. His eyes searched the wide space around him trying to catch a glimpse of a certain redhead wearing an oh so ugly hat. A thundering boom echoed, loud enough to rattle his bones. He heard him before he could spot him
‘Ah there he is’ Dazai thought. A sudden vibration spread throughout the ground paired with sounds of concrete bashing against each other. His eyes wandered up to catch a glimpse of his partner no more than 6ft above the ground, a red glow enveloping his body along with the crushed up concrete rocks used as pellets hovering in the air beside him. A light gust of wind blew by, ruffling Chuuya's orange-red locks. Dazai’s eyes were transfixed on the slender body floating in the night sky. Paired with the red glow of For the Tainted Sorrow and the light shine from the moon, Dazai thought he looked angelic, but he pushed that thought away as quickly as it came. He didn’t need any distractions now.
“Hey Chuuya! How ya doing up there” Dazai shouted up as he dodged yet another bullet from the guy in front of him.
“Better than you for sure” Chuuya hollered back, dodging the branches that have been shaped into spikes that are currently being thrown at him with practiced accuracy and terrifying speed. At that moment, he was glad that he had taken up those pilates classes Kouyou made him attend when he was 15. Dodging razor-sharp projectiles flying at breakneck speed required far more flexibility than one would think. Once it seemed that his opponent had ran out of ammunition, Chuuya took his chance, using his gravity to manipulate the rock pellets, hurling them at the enemy in front of him all at once. The impact of it against the concrete ground emitted a smokescreen of dust, blocking his entire vision. Chuuya paused momentarily waiting for any sign signaling his opponent was about to retaliate. After all, Kato Mio, age 20 was just as powerful as Chuuya Nakahara with the same gravity ability.
“Think you can handle him? Its like fighting another you, just not as small of course!” Dazai grinned antagonizing the redhead while rounding the corner, whipping out a gun of his own and shooting the assailant square in the forehead, his aim impeccable. Nakamura Kota, age 22, then crumpled onto the floor with lifeless eyes and a steady stream of blood running from his bullet wound.
“Cut it out bastard” Chuuya gritted out floating down when he saw no signs of movement from the havoc he had wrecked down below. “You finally ended him? Took you long enough, I was getting bored” Dazai let out a yawn and stretched as he strolled towards his partner, carefully stepping over and avoiding the bodies on the floor. “We still have to take pictures of the bodies how troublesome” He whined and draped his body over Chuuya’s. Lanky arms dangling down making the shorter one stumble a little due to the sudden added weight.
“Hey get off!” Chuuya squirmed before kicking his sweaty partner off, leaving him to melt onto whatever hard surface he was closest to. This mission was yet another success which could be added on to their long never-ending ever-growing list. Ever since the Port Mafia and the Armed Detective Agency came together to form a truce, more and more organizations had backed down in fear of them. The return of the once separated Double Black duo, had struck cold fear into the hearts of opposing organizations. Even more so when word got around to the underground that there was a second generation of Double Black emerging.
Usually the ADA would frown upon the ways of the mafia such as in this case, brutally stoning people to death (Chuuya’s go-to method of killing) or simply conveniently lodging a bullet in their brain (Dazai’s preferred way) however, this particular organization, Gilded Crows that Kato Mio and Nakamura Kota belonged in seemed to have an undying bloodthirst for the fall of the Port Mafia. If the ADA were any wiser, they would break the truce and stay out of it completely. However due to the morals of Kunikida Doppo and the quote "do not save yourself by abandoning the one who trusted you." which Fukuzawa seemed to live by ever since the alliance with the Mafia, the ADA decided to stay. Besides, having the 2 most powerful duos in all of Yokohama on their side didn’t seem too bad as well.
For the past month, the Gilded Crows, a tiny power hungry gang filled with no more than 6 members, have been on their asses more often than they’d like. Apparently their end goal is to usurp the Mafia’s spot in being the largest most dangerous organization. A laughable goal really since the Mafia is run by none other than Mori Ougai and all of Yokohama knows that anyone who even thinks about crossing Mori Ougai is worse than a fool. Well all that is in the past now since the pair had crushed the last 2 members, the Gilded Crows never to be seen again.
Oh how wrong they were..
“Hey Dazai?”
“Yes Chuuya?”
“Wheres Kato Mio?”
Dazai whirled around and raised a questioning brow “I thought..?” It seemed like he understood what Chuuya was getting at as he shot up from his spot beside the road and jogged up to where he was. Stopping abruptly beside Chuuya, he found himself staring at the small crater in the ground which was lined with cracks and dents from the redhead’s ability. There was just one tiny problem, lying right there in the middle of the crater was a body, which would have been the plan if it belonged to Kato Mio. However, it did not. Dazai turned to Chuuya and stared blankly before popping the question he knew they both had no answer to.
“Hey Chuuya, wheres your guy?”
“…Fuck”
