    Summary

Bruce Wayne the disaster sneaks into Clark Kent's life through the back door: a press interview in a Metropolis nightclub, a card pressed into his palm with a one-count pause, forty-eight hours of practiced not-thinking about what that card means.

    Then the phone calls start.

Clark is a journalist, a hero, a man who feels things about most things he encounters and has spent a lifetime slightly embarrassed by this. He tells himself the calls are professional. He tells himself he's not falling. He tells himself a lot of things that turn out not to be true.

He has to tell himself. That, in the end, is very Clark.
