'It is Dazai's birthday today' Chuuya thought
Chuuya never really cared about birthday, he never even celebrated his own, except for his 16 one which The Flags planed it and forced Chuuya to go, Chuuya enjoyed it but he will never admit it he would rather die than admit
But somehow Chuuya wanted to suprise Dazai, to maybe show that he remembered his new partner's birthday or something, but it wasn't care, it was rivalry, Chuuya is doing that to definitely annoy Dazai and show how much he hates that Dazai
Chuuya went to the store to buy a cake, but when he went to look for candles he saw a mackerel cake decoration, and thought he'd bake a cake himself, he absolutely grabbed the mackerel decoration, as he went to grab the candles that said "16"

On his way home he stopped at a jewelery store because he wanted to gift Dazai a mackerel bracelet and successfully found it, Chuuya bought Dazai a little gift, that contained the mackerel bracelet, bandages, as a joke, and a handwritten note
It was not a lot but they aren't close or anything so it will do, Chuuya prepared the cake, Chuuya is an excellent cook so of course it will taste amazing, Chuuya was even proud of it Chuuya had written in messy handwriting on the cake with melted chocolate it read 'Happy 16 Birthday'

It was 9 p.m when Chuuya got to Dazai's shipping container, Chuuya didin't even knock as he bursted in
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY FUCKE-"
Chuuya froze at the sight infront of him, Chuuya felt his heart clench, as the cake he was holding dropped, the same for the little gift bag
Dazai was standing on a chair with a rope infront of his his arms cut up, to the point of severe bleeding
Dazai himself froze as he looked at Chuuya, his eyes dull, hsi breathing faster as he noticed the cake the gift bag, at that moment he realised that somebody cares about him…enough to even wish happy birthday…well of course Oda and Ango wished him happy birthday…
…But it was diffrent …
…It was Chuuya, Chuuya remembered…
Chuuya just looked st Dazai he didin't rush nor yell nor question him, he didin't want to startle Dazai, Chuuya just walked to Dazai and lend his hand to Dazai incase he wanted to come down, as Chuuya spoke up
"Come down"
Dazai hesitated but took Chuuya's hand, as he came down, Chuuya started checking Dazai's cut quietly, Dazai felt awkward his attempt failed not to mention that Chuuya witnessed it
Dazai was slightly shaking, from everyhting, as Chuuya quickly grabbed a towel and put it under warm water
Chuuya then daped the warm soaked towel at the wounds to clean them, Dazai quickly winced, but trued to hide it to not look pathetic infront of Chuuya

Chuuya had finished cleaning, he bandaged up Dazai, the shipping container was cold so Chuuya brought Dazai to his home
Chuuya had made Dazai some food related ro crab since it is Dazai favourite, and Chuuya made Dazai warm cocoa, Chuuya was only doing that so that his partner wouldn't die, thats all he didn't care about Dazai at all(delusional final boss)
After Dazai ate, Dazai barely ate, but he loved Chuuya's cooking so even if he didn't have appetite, it was delicious and Dazai wasn't about to waste the opportunity of the warm food Chuuya made

Now it came to sleeping, Chuuya was already preparing the guest room that he has
"Eh, so you can sleep here"
Dazai looked st Chuuya as he didn't want to sleep in a guest room he wanted to sleep with his dog
"…can I sleep with you?"
Chuuya froze, but he cannot decline it, Dazai looks so pathetic and sad, if he did refuse then Chuuya would rethink it the whole night and not sleep
"Uh…yeah sure I guess, then come with me"
What else was he supposed to say? He couldn't just say no, which the yes led to Dazai and Chuuya cuddling together on Chuuya's bed in their Pajamas(Dazai comes to Chuuya's house tons of times and leaves his clothes there so Dazai had his pajama)
They both didn't sleep for a long time, but when they fell asleep if was like 5 a.m, it was windy outside and cold, so the house will naturally have colder temperature, so they both were curled up in the same duvet cuddling each other
If anyone walked it, they would seem pretty close for rivals, too close, but nobody is here, just them in their own little world
None of them is gonna admit but they both slept better than they have in a while, Dazai didn't wake up in the middle of the night and Chuuya didn't have any nightmares, they were perfect comfort for each other without knowing
No wonder they complete each other so well, they were meant to be, like soulmates or anything similar to that, even if life wasn't nice to them, it was nice enough to give them the other
To have someone who would comfort you without expecting anything or just wanting to love you, is really hard to find these days, and someone they found each other, on accident, yes they did meet in a toxic way but their whole lives are messed up, what do you expect?
A normal healthy happy couple? Thats foreign to them, something you only see in movies, they never were loved so they never learnt to love
But they have each other ands thats enough for them, thats all they could ask for now
