Summary
“O-Oi!” Takumi yelps and throws the book aside, running across the room and falling to his knees. He eases his shoulder under Yugamu’s front and starts to ease his weight off his trembling legs. “What the hell happened to you? Did you get attacked? Y-You’re freezing!” He wraps his arm around Yugamu and starts assisting him to his feet, pulling his friend to lean on his shoulder.
A laugh rattles out of Yugamu, but he goes without complaint. His cheek lolls against Takumi’s shoulder. “Ahh… you know, it was the funniest thing… I was testing a new poison and I…” He coughs, the soft sound making his entire body shudder. “I might have… been a bit overzealous about the dose…”
It takes a second for Takumi to process that, concerned as he is with getting Yugamu propped upright on the examination table. When he does, all traces of concern rush from Takumi like the hot air being poked out of a balloon. “You poisoned yourself.”
“Well, yes,” Yugamu says, blinking like he thinks this should be obvious.
Takumi narrows his eyes. “Why.”
