Chapter Text
Hajime felt himself panic at the sight of the entity. Its eyes were almost boring into his soul. It's many legs were long and rather hairy for a monster made of black matter. Nevertheless, Hajime needed to find Its weak point.
He slowly got up from the rubble, feeling immense pain in all of his joints. The fall he had taken due to getting struck by the entity was foul. Hajime gritted his teeth and faced it head on.
He started sprinting towards it as the crowd watching cheered on.
''Mirai! Mirai!'' They'd call out to him. It was the name given to Hajime by the people of Towa City.
It was the word for future in Japanese. According to the newspapers mentioning Hajime's heroic acts, the name was given to him due to the hope he gives for the city's future.
Hajime couldn't lie about the fact that he liked it. He remembered himself grinning while reading articles mentioning how important he was for their future.
Towa City is a place full of chaos. Of course they'd find hope in a superhero like him. Hajime tried his best to not let his ego grow and get the better of him. But sometimes, he couldn't help feeling superior in a way.
Ever since he'd found that secret lab at his former school, he's gained immense power. It all happened so quickly. From him trespassing into the lab in Hope's Peak, to him accidentally touching some powerful liquid splattered on the ground.
Ever since that day, he'd been able to transform himself from a useless man with no talents to the town's only hope.
Hajime's eyes would change from hazel to red as he used his powers. He was able to lift weights he normally couldn't do. He could fly, strike villians with energy stored within him and fight anyone who dared to attack him. He managed to save tons of lives, stop countless tragedies and kill numerous monsters sent by villains.
Now, he was a grown up, still saving the city like before. Of course, he had to keep his identity secret. When he was out in the midst of a battle, he would wear his superhero clothing.
As cheesy as it might seem, Hajime felt powerful wearing them. It was a yellow suit, covering all of his body. He wore a mask with matching colors to hide his face as well as a red cape. Hajime's mask was even enchanted, making his voice sound deeper than it actually was.
He felt useful now. Finally after so much dread he had to endure. So much insecurity caused not only by his family but also by...a certain former classmate.
The monster let out a vicious scream, reminding Hajime of where he was. He couldn't lose focus now. Not when so many counted on him to protect the city.
With one final blow, he stored power within him and reached both of his arms out. At that, a strong light emerged from his hands. The power striked the monster in a haste, leaving nothing but ashes left.
It took only a few seconds before the crowd went wild.
''Mirai has done it yet again!''
''We're safe!''
''Our hero!''
They all cheered, clapped their hands and some even ran up to him to get autographs.
''Thank you! Thank you!'' Hajime found himself laughing.
Despite the pain he felt from getting hurt in battles, it would always be worth it in the end. The smiles of the townsfolk was all that he needed. Reassurance that he was important, useful, talented and even hope itself.
If only his teenager self could see Hajime now. Maybe he'd finally stop being so hard on himself.
''Hajime-chan!'' Ibuki poked his cheek, grinning sheepishly at him. ''Are you coming to the party or not?''
Hajime was sitting at a Cafe, a usual spot for him to hang out with his former classmates. Ibuki, an ecentric woman he went to high school with had finally appeared. She was of course, late as usual.
He turned to face her, too tired to hide his annoyance.
She dropped her hand, stared at him for a moment before barking out a laugh.
''You look horrible! What happened?'' She spoke as she took a seat infront of him.
''Uh, well...''
''Too many all nighters, huh?''
''Yeah, pretty much.'' He sighed.
''With work, I assume.''
''Yes.'' That, and beating bad guys all night long.
One thing he did not enjoy so much with being a superhero was having to live a double life. The exhaustion of being an accountant by day and a hero by...well all the time, had really ruined his sleep schedule.
''You coming or noooot?'' She tried again.
''Do I look like someone who needs a party?''
''Eh come on, it's just eyebags! Besides, life is not just about needs but also wants!''
''Yeah, tell that to the homeless or those who work at fast food restaurants.'' He shook his head before grabbing his briefcase.
''But Hajime-''
''I have a lot, and I mean a lot of paperwork to do. So if you'll excuse me-''
''Huh?!'' Ibuki gasped as she held up a hand to her chest. ''But I just arrived!''
''Yes you did. Thirty minutes late!''
She paused, her expression softening before letting out an ''Oh.''
''Oh?'' Hajime repeated. ''Is that all you're gonna say after how long you kept me waiting.''
''I forgot the time, I swear!''
''Ibuki, I don't have much free time like you do! I get that you don't have to worry about income as much, since you're you know, a famous musician. But I have to focus on my work!''
''I also focus on my work!''
''Oh really? What's your next song then? Any new albums planned?''
Ibuki's eyes darted from left to right, as if Hajime's gaze was cursed and forbidden to bestow upon.
''Uh, it's a secret?'' She gave a nervous chuckle.
Hajime sighed despite himself, ready to leave before he heard the news from one of the screens near the counter.
He looked at the TV broadcasting news of yesterday. Hajime felt a smile linger on his lips at hearing the information of his good deeds.
''Mirai saves Towa City again, killing the vicious monster before anyone could get hurt.'' The news lady was speaking, her gratitude apparent in her eyes.
''He really is amazing.'' Ibuki spoke.
Hajime turned to face her, his smile still present.
''Oh really? Didn't think you cared much for superheroes.''
''Of course I do! Who doesn't? I mean, I always thought they were only fictional and then, boom! There he is, a superhero that popped out of nowhere!''
''Yeah, pretty cool right.'' He laughed.
''You sure you don't wanna come to the party? It's kinda like a reunion for class-77b!'' She insisted, her face eager as ever.
''I'm already in contact with most of my former friends at Hope's Peak. Besides, I was never a part of your class, Ibuki.''
''Oh, right!'' She laughed. ''I always forget. You might as well have been considering how often you hung out with us!''
''Ahaha, I guess so.''
''And you get to see Chiaki! Your one and only true love!'' She made smooching noises at that.
''I already see her all the time. And quit saying she's my lover! We dated once and it didn't work out, kay? Forget about it already.''
''Aweee, but I thought it was a match made in heaven!''
''We both kinda had a feeling it wasn't going anywhere so we mutually agreed to end things. It was nice while it lasted.'' Hajime shrugged.
''Hmmm, you sure you don't wanna meet the rest? Komaeda's coming too! I'm sure you haven't seen him in a while!''
Hajime felt himself recoil at the mention of his name. Nagito Komaeda, the guy who would constantly belittle Hajime for being a reserve course student. He would always tease Hajime and give him mean glares whenever he was seen near the ultimates. That scumbag would probably lose his shit if he found out what Hajime was capable of now.
''Are you crazy? That man hates me, and I hate him!'' He hissed. ''Or did you already forget our three year long war of ''Reserve course trash'' and ''Lucky lunatic''?
''Yeah, yeah. I remember.'' She swayed her hand in the air. ''But surley you two are over it by now. I mean, you're grown ups and all so it should be fine!''
''Absolutely not!''
Ibuki sighed at that. ''Suit yourself.''
''I will.''
Hajime was staring at his paperwork, as if it would sort itself if he just kept wishing for it. But of course, life was not that easy.
Hajime picked up his pencil and started rummaging through his work. He couldn't risk getting into trouble with his boss again. Hajime was already on thin ice with that man after the amount of delays he's had.
And it's not like he could come up to him and say ''Hey, Mr Togami! So the reason for my shitty work is not because I'm a failure at my job. But rather because I'm an undercover superhero living a double life.''
Yeah, that just wouldn't work out. Besides, he couldn't just out himself like that. He couldn't let his villains know of his identity. That would only lead to him being assassinated by the end of the very same day of the revelation.
Hajime's phone suddenly started ringing, making Hajime jolt from fear. Jeez, he really needed to get some sleep. He was practically jumping at everything.
Hajime picked his phone up to see Chiaki's name on the screen. A smile appeared on his lips as he accepted the call.
''Do I have to remind everyone that I'm a busy man?'' Hajime said jokingly to the other line.
''Ah, Hajime!'' Chiaki spoke, her tone suspiciously excited. ''Ibuki told me why you didn't want to come to the party!''
And there it was, another reason as to why Hajime should keep his mouth shut around Ibuki.
''Oh, really?'' Hajime spoke, his exhaustion clear as day.
The information Chiaki was going to tell him would either be so far off that Hajime would start wondering if Ibuki was actually listening to him or just some random bullshit he mentioned a while back that she mixed up with the present.
''It's because Nagito is coming, right?''
What the hell, Ibuki.
''What? No, I just have a lot to do! I promise. Otherwise I would-'' Hajime thought about it some more before speaking. ''Nevermind. Actually, I would probably still not attend. I'm not very fond of people, as you might know.''
Chiaki sighed. ''You really haven't changed much, have you?''
''Is that really such a bad thing?''
''No? I mean yes, kinda. You have to step out of your comfort zone evantually, Hajime.''
As if becoming a superhero over night one random day during his last year in high school wasn't enough change. Besides, ever since that day, he's grown more confident in himself. More confident than he's ever been before.
''I just-look, Chiaki.'' He pinched the bridge of his nose. ''I get that you're only trying to help, but I'm perfectly fine with how things are in my life.''
''Are you really?''
Hajime stared at the paperwork infront of him. Thoughts of Byakuya Togami yelling at him for being terrible at his job appeared. His parents scolding him for the way he chose his life and Nagito’s insults echoed in his mind. He then turned to face a nearby mirror in his room. He saw a miserable looking man with eyebags and messy hair staring back at him.
''Yes, I am.'' He forced out, still staring at his reflection.
''Fine, if you say so.''
Silence followed after that.
''Oh and also,'' Chiaki began, her voice suddenly nervous. ''I kind of invited Nagito to our hangout next week, just to fix things between you two for the party! Okay, bye!''
''What-''
Hajime couldn't even get a sentence in before Chiaki had hung up.
Damn you, Ibuki!
A full week had passed and it was the day of utter humiliation. The day Hajime would have to endure Nagito fucking Komaeda once more. Even in adulthood, it seemed he couldn't escape him.
Fortunately for Hajime, he was given the reprieve to get his mind off of things. A monster had yet again, attacked Towa City and it was Hajime’s responsibility to put a stop to it.
It was another entity made of black matter. Where were these monsters coming from? Some villain had to be behind this. Someone who used dark magic. That didn't really narrow it down much. Almost every villain possessed dark magic.
''Help! Help me! Please, someone!'' A frantic voice called out in the distance.
Hajime quickly ran towards the sound, which was somewhere in a nearby warehouse. Hajime was desperate to make it in time before they got hurt.
Once he had made it to the source of the sound, he found nothing. Maybe he was too late?
''Hello?!'' Hajime called out. ''I can help you, just let me know where you are!''
''I'm right here.'' A sinister voice whispered in his ear.
Hajime turned around as quickly as possible, his heart beating rapidly in his chest.
This was an ambush! How could he have been so stupid?
''Where are you?!'' Who are you?!''
Soon, a sound of laughter echoed through the warehouse.
''Where the hell are you?!'' Hajime screamed, feeling anxiety build up in his chest.
''I told you, I'm right here.'' The voice teased somewhere in the darkness.
''Show yourself!'' Hajime demanded.
In an instant, a smoke bomb was set off infront of Hajime. He felt himself struggle to breathe. His vision became a blur.
Once the smoke had diminished, he saw a figure standing a few feet away from him.
''Hello, Mirai.'' The figure spoke.
Hajime could hear the smile in his voice. This was no stranger to him. This was none other than his arch nemesis. He was wearing his usual black suit and mask. His voice would often change depending on the situation. Hajime wouldn't be surprised if the man also had an enchanted mask.
''Jinx.'' Hajime muttered, his sound filled with nothing but distaste for the man infront of him. ''So you're the one who's been sending off monsters in Towa City!''
''Took you long enough to figure that out.'' He clicked his tounge. ''You remind me of someone actually. Someone just as dense as you-''
''Enough!'' Hajime let out before tackling Jinx to the ground.
The man let out an agitated groan, muttering a few complaints under his breath before attempting to shove Hajime off of him.
''Let go of me!''
''Not so tough now, are you?'' Hajime grinned as he prepared his powers in his arms.
Before Hajime could strike him, Jinx kicked him in the stomach.
''Fuck!'' Hajime groaned.
In one quick movement, Jinx took hold of Hajime while he was distracted with his stomachache, and threw him onto a nearby wall.
''Damn it!'' Hajime found himself saying. His back was hurting like hell but he could not allow Jinx to beat him.
He looked up to find Jinx standing above him. He was panting like crazy, his body tense with anger.
''Pathetic.'' He muttered. ''You're hopeless.''
''Pretty sure the villain is the one who is hopeless-''
Jinx gripped the fabric of Hajime's suit and pulled him closer. Their noses would be practically touching by now if it weren't for their masks.
''You don't know me at all. Don't you dare utter things like that.''
Hajime felt himself baffled by the situation. He almost couldn't speak. He was too focused on the pattern of Jinx's breaths.
The sound of Jinx's hollow laughter woke Hajime up.
''You're practically shaking! I can't believe that they see you as a hero!'' He continued to laugh like a maniac.
Hajime pushed him away, quickly trying to regain his balance and get up on his feet. It was struggle, but evantually he managed.
''Craving a round two?'' Jinx inquired teasingly as he tilted his head.
''Shut up and fight, asshole.'' Hajime spat out.
Jinx called upon his dark magic and threw all of it's energy on Hajime. The magic sent him flying across the warehouse. In response, Hajime sent his magic back at Jinx's direction. It striked him in an instant, knocking him backwards onto the ground.
Hajime got himself up and sprinted to Jinx, but by the time he reached him, he had teleported away.
''Where the hell?''
He felt a kick at his back. Hajime jolted from the pain. He turned around to see Jinx with dark matter emerging from his presence.
Hajime attempted to kick him as well. Unfortunately, Jinx caught on to his leg and threw him on the ground yet again.
''See, pathetic.'' He laughed.
''I'm not pathetic!''
''Sure. Keep telling yourself that.'' At that, Jinx sent waves of dark magic at him.
There was so much energy lunging at him that Hajime couldn't keep up. He felt himself get hit multiple times as he tried to shield himself with his powers.
Once the attacks were over, he sprinted towards Jinx, punching him in the face.
Jinx yelled out in fury before launching a nearby rock at his face with his magic. Hajime ducked in time before it could strike him.
''Nice try.'' Hajime spat out. ''But I won't go down that easily.''
Jinx let out a bitter laugh before he ran towards Hajime with a force so strong, they both broke through the walls of the warehouse. Hajime found himself outside again, with Jinx hovering over him like some parasite.
''Dammit!'' Hajime grabbed onto Jinx's waist. The act seemed to have startled the man in question. Hajime felt Jinx shiver at the touch.
''Get off of me!'' Hajime yelled, proceeding to push Jinx off of him.
Before Jinx could call upon his magic, Hajime picked him up as if he were made of feathers.
''Oh wow, you're a lot lighter than I thought.''
Jinx let out a startled yelp. ''What the hell are you doing?! Let go of me-''
''Shhh. Don't waste your breath.'' Hajime chuckled as he walked up to an edge leading to a river below. ''I don't have time for you. I've got a monster to kill, you know.''
''What are you-''
''This might keep you occupied for a while.'' And with that, Hajime threw Jinx down the river.
He let out an urgent scream before landing with a plop sound. Hajime couldn't help but grin as he stared down at the water beneath him.
The sound of the townsfolk screaming woke him up. He had a duty to fulfill. With that, he ran farther into the city.
Hajime managed to defeat the monster. It took a little more time and effort than the previous one, but he still won in the end. Hajime had no idea what had happened to Jinx. He was sure of one thing though, that man would soon get his revenge on him.
Unfortunately for Hajime, the day was not yet over. He still had to meet Chiaki at a diner. And the worst part of it all, she had invited Nagito. The man who had made fun of him for being talentless back in high school.
This was going to be a disaster.
''Hajime, over here!'' Chiaki waved at him as he entered the diner.
Chiaki was already seated. Her smile was as gentle as ever and she wore a pink dress. Her hair had grown longer, a lot longer than it was back in high school.
Hajime took a seat next to her, not wanting to be seated anywhere near Nagito.
''Hello.'' He smiled at her. ''How's it going with the new video game you're developing?''
''Oh.'' She chuckled. ''It's going well, actually. Ryota is even helping me with character desgins and cut scenes.''
''That sounds fun.''
A moment of silence passed.
''So where is-um...''
''Nagito?'' She blurted out.
''Yeah.'' Hajime didn't bother hiding the disgust in his tone. ''Shouldn't he be here by now?''
''Yeah, he should've been. To be honest, I have no idea why he's late. I tried calling him but he won't answer.'' Chiaki sighed. ''I hope he's okay.''
''Sheesh, so he's ruthless and tardy. What a nuisance.''
''Don't say that! I'm sure he didn't do it on purpose. He's never late, I can promise you that.''
''Mhm.'' Hajime wasn't convinced. ''Perhaps he chickened out. I mean, why would he ever wanna meet up with the reserve course student he so despises?''
Chiaki looked stung, as if the words were targeting her and not Nagito.
''You're not a reserve course student anymore! You two need to stop living in the past and make up already!'' She insisted, slightly pouting at him.
''Chiaki, I don't think you understand. Komaeda hates me. Like really, really hates me.''
''I do understand! I understand that you don't want to change your relationship with him. I understand that you're scared-''
''Scared?! Scared of what? Komaeda?'' He barked out a laugh. ''Chiaki, please. Don't flatter him like that.''
''You're scared of reliving the past! Because you can't let go. It hurts to see you self destruct like this. To see you rot at home, constantly isolating yourself from everyone and making excuses!'' Chiaki seemed angry now, angrier than Hajime's ever seen her.
Hajime could barley come up with a response as he stared at her with a stupid expression.
Man, he really was a loser.
To think that meeting up with some asshole from high school could get him so worked up.
Suddenly, a familiar voice spoke in his head. ''Pathetic.'' And ''You're hopeless.'' Echoed in his mind.
Hajime ferociously shook his head. There was no way he was gonna let Jinx flood his thoughts now. Absolutely not.
''You're right.'' Hajime accepted defeat.
Chiaki looked up at him in suprise, as if she hadn't expected Hajime to give in so easily.
''Y-yes! Good. The first step to fix your bad habits is to admit your issues.''
Hajime sighed. ''Why are you putting so much pressure on me, anyway? What about Komaeda? As if he's got his shit together.''
Chiaki's annoyed expression returned yet again. ''He's working on it....I think.''
''You think? That sure is reassuring.'' Hajime chuckled.
Chiaki frowned.
''Speaking of bad habits, shouldn't you stop with the whole ''I think'' crap. It makes you sound less confident.''
''I'm also working on stuff! Jeez Hajime, no one's perfect!'' She shot back.
Hajime laughed at that. ''Then why be so strict with me? Isin't that Mahiru's thing?''
''I-well...'' She sighed. ''Look, I get what you mean but I'm doing this because I care about you.''
Hajime's smile faltered, just a little bit. He found himself feeling guilty. He stared back at Chiaki, her face filled with worry. Hajime shouldn't be so hard on his friends. They were only trying to help him. It's not their fault that all they see in him is a miserable accountant and not some famous superhero...who's also a miserable accountant.
''I understand. I'm sorry for being so difficult.'' Hajime began, his voice now less teasing. ''Thank you for always being there for me, Chiaki. Even back in high school, you always had my back. You're my best friend and I hope you know that.''
Chiaki finally smiled at him. Her lips parted as if she wanted to speak. But before she could do that, an all too familiar voice spoke.
''How touching.'' Nagito smiled, it didn't reach his eyes.
He was clapping his hands, seemingly in a mocking way. ''I didn't know reserve course students could be so passionate.''
Hajime felt all the hatred he had for Nagito emerge within him in an instant. It was as if he'd suddenly relived high school again. ''Why you-''
''Hey, Nagito. Can you please not do this now? Why don't you take a seat.'' Chiaki tried to intrude before they'd break into an argument.
Hajime felt a little bad for Chiaki. For her to endure this even after high school must be exhausting. He still remembers how she'd constantly have to sit through multiple disputes between the two of them.
Nagito hesitated for a moment, as if Chiaki had asked him to break into song in the middle of the diner. Finally, he complied and sat across both of them.
It was quiet for a while. The silence was so loud that it overwhelmed Hajime. He knew that he shouldn't have come here.
Hajime took his time to analyze Nagito. He hadn't seen him in so long, it was only natural for Hajime to be curious.
Nagito's hair was slightly longer, not as long as Chiaki's though. His features were sharp, yet still bared some softness to them. He wore a simple black jacket and a white T-shirt along with it. His eyes were still as sharp and cold as Hajime remembered them. Light green grayish eyes that used to bore into his soul whenever he'd even step a foot near an ultimate.
Suddenly, those same eyes locked into his. Hajime felt a shiver run down his spine. He hadn't expected Nagito to meet his gaze. Hajime felt the need to look away immediately but couldn't. It was as if Hajime was put under a spell. With the way the light from the window was grazing Nagito’s eyes made him look almost ethereal. Hajime quickly looked away, belittling himself for even allowing such a thought.
''So,'' Chiaki began. ''Why are you late? Did something happen?''
Hajime felt Nagito's eyes shift from him to Chiaki.
''I was...caught up with something.''
''Is that all you have to say?'' Hajime laughed. ''For someone who claims to love ultimates so much, you sure don't seem to respect Chiaki.''
Hajime knew that he was being too harsh on him considering the fact that Ibuki was late to their hangout not so long ago. Despite that, Hajime couldn't help himself. And seeing the look of fury in Nagito’s eyes made it all the more worthwhile.
Nagito shot back a glare. ''What do you know about respect, reserve course trash?'' He spat out in anger.
''Hey, hey! Please calm down, both of you!'' Chiaki frantically picked up the menus on the table and handed one to both of them. ''Maybe you're just hungry. Akane gets all moody too when she's craving something to eat.''
Hajime and Nagito exchanged a final glare before complying. Hajime scanned the menu for something that would pique his interest.
Once they'd ordered food, they ate in silence. As much as Hajime hated the akawardness, he much preferred to atleast have food whilist enduring it.
He slowly looked up at Nagito, who was too busy eating his own food. A sudden conversation topic crossed Hajime's mind.
''What do you do for work, Komaeda?'' He inquired, trying his best not to grin.
Nagito's eyes widened, as if he hadn't expected Hajime to ask him anything. He wiped his lips with a napkin before speaking.
''Why does that concern you?'' Nagito asked suspiciously.
''Why would it not concern me? I haven't seen you in years. I'd like to know what you do with your life.'' This time, Hajime grinned despite himself.
Nagito raised his eyebrow at that. ''Oh, so you intend to mock me?''
''I never said that.''
''But you were thinking about it.'' Nagito spoke, his voice close to a whisper.
Hajime laughed. ''Jeez, just tell me you wuss.''
''I-'' Nagito groaned. ''Don't speak to me that way, reserve course.''
Hajime heard Chiaki sigh beside him.
''Would you two please try to get along. I'm doing this for the both of you!'' Chiaki spoke, her exhaustion clear as day.
''And I truly do appreciate your concern, Chiaki. But unfortunately, me and Hinata-kun aren't a good pair. I'd suggest finding him another friend, if that's truly what he needs.''
''I don't need a new friend.'' Hajime spat out. ''If you haven't already noticed, I'm also not fond of this hangout.''
''Very well, then.'' Nagito muttered. ''I'll leave.''
''No! Dammit Hajime!'' Chiaki looked at him in anger. ''Be kind to him! And you!'' She turned to Nagito. ''Don't you dare get up! Stay right where you are.''
Both men were stunned at Chiaki's sudden outburst yet didn't hesitate to obey. Hajime found himself frowning. Nagito seemed to share the same emotion, frowning even deeper.
Chiaki sighed. ''You guys are hopeless.'' She laughed a little while playing with her fork. ''Just, talk to each other.'' She looked up at Nagito. ''Answer his question.''
Nagito looked at her, then at Hajime. With a sigh he said ''Fine, I do volunteer work.''
''Volunteer?'' Hajime tried not to sound mocking for Chiaki's sake. ''How the hell do you get paid then?''
''I don't. That's what volunteering is.'' Nagito gave him an annoyed expression. That same expression he would show whenever he thought Hajime was an idiot. ''You work for free.'' He stated, his face stoic.
''What-but how do you get money then?''
''I don't. I'm already wealthy.''
''Right, that makes total sense.'' Hajime rolled his eyes.
''Oh, please. You're an accountant. As if that's any better.''
''Wait, how did you-nevermind that. It is better! Atleast I get paid.''
Nagito made a clicking noise with his tounge. ''Chiaki told me all about your work issues. Don't deny it.'' He grinned viciously.
''What?!'' Hajime turned to Chiaki. Her face seemed startled.
''He's over exaggerating.'' She tried to reassure. ''I only told him you were overworking yourself, that's all.''
''Chiaki...'' Hajime sighed.
''Overworking yourself, which means you're struggling. And yet you judge me?''
''Like I said,'' Hajime hissed. ''Atleast. I. Get. Paid.'' He gritted his teeth.
Nagito gave him that very same smile he used to bear back in high school. It was a malicious grin, a smile he wore whenever he pitied Hajime.
Oh, how Hajime despised him.
