Chapter Text

"Many centuries ago, magic jewels of extraordinary power were created... these were the Miraculous. Forged into vessels for us, the Kwami to interact with your world. Throughout the course of history, their blessings have been used for the betterment of human civilization. However, two of these Miraculous hold greater power than the others, the earrings of the Ladybug that embody creation. And the ring of the Black Cat, empowered by destruction. If one person were to claim both, they would gain the power to dictate reality."

"Then I shall make that power my own, Nooroo." A man said, looking from a locket brooch in his hand to a small purple fairy. "I will have those Miraculous!"

"But nobody knows where they are now." The little creature reminded. Making the owner of his brooch smile a bit.

"But I've already found you, my little Nooroo. And the Peafowl, of course." The man's smile turned somewhat dark. "Your Miraculous, remind me of it's powers." He asked of the little god, gently rubbing his fingers over it's flap.

"Well, as the Kwami of transmission, the Butterfly Miraculous, grants the power to bestow abilities onto champions chosen by my holders." Nooroo explained eagerly.

"And, in the case of luring out superheroes, nothing is better than creating supervillains."

"But master, the Miraculous weren't created to be used for such a purpose."

Nooroo's 'master' stomped his foot, creating an echoing thud. "I must have this absolute power! And so long as your Miraculous remains mine, you'll have no choice but to obey me!" The man placed the locket brooch onto the lapel of his suit jacket. "Nooroo, DARK WINGS, RISE!" In a flash of light, in the place of the man, stood a new figure. Cane in one hand, running his other along the brim of a black fedora. The ribbon of which looked like the antennae of a moth. The clothes themselves was an immaculately tailored 3 piece suit, Made of this seemingly indestructible yet immensely fragile dark purple, almost black fabric. The suit jacket had tuxedo style tailcoats, Which went down to the midcalf, Embroidered with the motif of a butterfly's wings. A jet black dress shirt and necktie peaked out of the timeless low cut waistcoat, A matching black pocket square was tucked into the jacket pocket. Black driving gloves were matched to the shirt, made out of a leather like material. "From this day forth, I shall be known as... Hawk Moth!"

"Marinette! You're going to be late for school, again! Wake up!" Sabine Cheng shouted up at the attic where her daughter slept.

Said girl, the fourteen year old, Marinette Dupain-Cheng, groaned as she silenced the alarm on her phone. "Got it, maman." She mumbled, almost falling out of bed in her attempt to leave it's cozy comfort. Giveing her mother a kiss on the cheek, before sitting down to make her breakfast. "Great, another day with Chloé," She snarked aloud.

"Sweetheart," her mother started, "if she such a problem, we could always talk to Principal Damoclès about transferring you to another class for the rest of the year."

"And leave my friends alone with that little monster? No way." Marinette retorted, mixing together milk and cocoa powder together in a bowl. Apparently setting it back down too hard and starting a rube goldberg machine of misfortune, sending a cube of sugar into her bowl and knocking over the carton of milk she'd moved to the edge of the counter.

Sabine sighed fondly at her child's clumsiness, grabbing a rag to place over the spilt milk. "Marinette, I'm sure things will get better. But sometimes it's okay to choose not to fight." She said, patting her daughter's head. "Finish up quickly now, or you'll be late for school."

>i<-------------------//////////////

Adrien's day started out much differently from the young Dupain-Cheng. Rising with the sun to set about his morning care routine. Dressing in only the 'finest' Gabriel Agreste's brand had to offer, silently making sure his prosthetic was on correctly, hidden under his pant leg. Eating his breakfast in near silence, Nathalie having started to join him since he began attending school without his father's knowing. It was something he'd started to look forwards to. Even if their relationship was purely business focused, it kinda made him feel like his mother was still around. "Oh, Adrien, before I forget. My nephew will be coming to live with us, he'll be staying at Le Grand Paris Hotel until we finish setting up a room for him."

"Charlemagne's coming to Paris?" He asked with some level of restrained excitement.

Nathalie smiled at his flawed attempt. "Actually, he's already in Paris. He arrived last night and I'd like for you to show him around Françoise Dupont. I've already cleared your schedule for the afternoon, so the day is yours." He could just imagine the look on his father's face when Nathalie told him of the alterations to his son's schedule. Like that of a constipated moose, if he had to guess. Nathalie gave Adrien's hair a light ruffeling, undoing his work in taming it. He offered an ingenuine sound of annoyance as a retort. "I'll go make sure Placide's picked up Charlemagne. You just focus on finishing up your breakfast."

Nathalie then had the joy of watching the blonde inhale his food in almost record time. "I'm gonna head out now!" Adrien asked as he practically bolted for the car. Clearly someone was more than a little excited. And she'd be lying if she said that it wasn't infectious. But, returning to Adrien's current happenings as he skipped steps in his rush to leave. Almost tripping maybe once... or twice on his way down.

"Careful there, Dre Rey! Wouldn't want you to fall and break something." Charlemagne shouted from the front seat. His somewhat kind face poking out of the open car window, mid-length braid of dichromatic black and white hair falling to the left of his outstretched head. Eyes similarly teal to that of his aunt, but slightly more youthful. From what Adrien could tell he was wearing a black leather cropped jacket and royal blue Adomination shirt. "Oh, Chloé's in the back. So that makes you the last one to join our little party."

"That means literally nothing, it's not like I knew about this before today." Adrien supplied, intent on worming his way out of some unknown punishment. Adrien knew his friends all too well, Charlemagne never took things too far, but was all to willing to make him embarrass himself. "Hey Cho," he said to the fellow blonde as he got into the car, "how was your weekend?"

Chloé gave him a quick hug before answering, "It was good Adrien, Daddy is still utterly useless. But that's nothing new." She said with a almost undetectable amount of bite. "OH! Me and Char had a karaoke party yesterday. We would have invited you but..."

"I had a photo shoot. I get it." He finished her thought with a somber tone. "Let's not dwell on it! Today's all about showing Charlemagne around." Chloé nodded in agreement, likely already thinking of places to have Placide take them after school. "I've got the whole day to do whatever."

"Thanks in no small part to my aunt, if I had to guess." The tallest of the three teens snarked, wasting no opportunity to poke at Gabriel's ego. And sing the praises of his family. But mostly poke at Adrien's father when it wouldn't get him, or Adrien, in trouble. "So, anyone I should look out for at Françoise Dupont?"

"There is the baker girl that's obsessed with Adrien, she's utterly ridiculous." Chloé snipped at the girl. Something that her fellow blonde didn't really appreciate, given how he'd been blamed for her actions at the start of the year. He also didn't think that Marinette was in any way obsessed with him. "Dupain-Cheng's little wanna be journalist friend is also really nosey, so be ready for that. The DJ boy's taste in music in irredeemable, but you'd find that out for yourself. Honestly there isn't enough time in the day to tell you how utterly ridiculous they all are."

Charlemagne hummed in a way that told Adrien he didn't exactly trust Cholé's words, but was still receptive to them at the very least. Adrien made similar noises when he had to do interviews. Ah, media training his most beloathed. "What about Sabrina? She seemed decent enough, a bit of door mat if anything. But I'm not gonna fault her for being loyal."

"Sabrina is useful, if nothing else."

"Careful there Chloé, you're starting to sound like my father." Adrien chuckled as the girl visibly cringed at the information. "You can just say that Sabrina is your friend. I'm not gonna get jealous or anything."

"Okay, slightly uncomfortable realizations aside, how exactly is the 'baker girl' obsessed?" Charlemagne asked, if only to steer the conversation out of that particular topic.

"Adrien was nice to her one time and Dupain-Cheng took that as some sweeping declaration of love. She's always been ridiculous like that."

"Sounds more like she's watched one too many soap operas."

Adrien groaned, "She's just really friendly, I don't get why you have to make it something bigger than it is Cho. I won't stop being your friend just because I'm making a few new ones." He pulled the girl into a side hug, to emphasize his point. "You're a great friend and one of my first."

Chloé sighed fondly, letting herself enjoy the gesture. "Okay Adri. But that's not gonna stop me from hating Dupain-Cheng anytime soon!" Both boys chuckled and fondly shook their heads. "I don't like how she is around you. It's a special kind of insufferable that I won't tolerate." Adrien moved his head to look out the window as Chloé freed herself if his hug. A comfortable silence falling over the car, sans the ambient noise of driving. Watching as the blur of buildings started to regain texture.

Placide grunted as the car came to full stop before the entrance to the illustrious Françoise Dupont. "Thanks for the ride Gorilla." Charlemagne said in his most respectful tone, handing over a package of what Adrien assumed to be some rare action figure. "I managed to hunt down that figure you'd been looking for." The giant of a man gave a affirmative grunt as the group of teens got out of the car. Chloé quickly running off to hunt down Sabrina for one reason or another.

"Have a good day Placide," Adrien said to the man before closing the rear door. His eyes drifting over to some comotion across the street. But that wasn't really any of his business and he had other things to focus on. "Come on Char, we don't wanna be late for your first day!" He exclaimed, dragging the taller boy along with fairly impressive strength. Charlemagne just allowing it to happen, be it out of fondness or ambivalence was truly anyone's guess. "You'll love Mme. Bustier, she's super nice."

"And what if I don't?" He retorted in a slightly joking tone.

Adrien in his infinite positivity, or vice grip on the high he'd been riding, chuckled. "Then we'll find a teacher you do like." By this point Adrien had let go of his hold on Charlemagne, if only to direct him up to the second floor of the school. "Now, leggo!" The boy said before resuming his forceful treatment, pulling him in the direction of a classroom. It wasn't anything special, but Charlemagne could understand why Adrien found it so interesting.

"Hey dude, who's the suitcase?" A frankly rude, by Charlemagne's standards, red capped boy asked. Dressed, in a slightly undersized blue hoodie. Headphones around his neck, not currently playing any sort of music. Charlemagne let his gaze move downwards, to a colorful assortment of bracelets.

"Really... cargo pants?" He snarked with a judging look.

"Nino this is Charlemagne, my father's assistant's nephew. Please don't call him luggage if you value having self confidence." Adrien implored, "But it maybe a bit too late for that warning."

Nino apparently didn't believe Adrien's words of warning. "I once made a grown man cry during a gala. Like, ugly cry. When I was ten." Nino gave Adrien a doubtful look. "I was a very mean and judgemental ten year old." Charlemagne leaned in closer to Adrien's ear, "Is this the 'DJ boy', Chloé said I'd hate, right?" Adrien nodded hesitantly earning a hum from his taller friend.

Just as Nino was about to say something, the classroom door slammed shut, causing the attentions of assorted students within to turn to the door. A rather short and chubby girl that had gone unnoticed by Charlemagne looked to be a little frightened. While a red head muttered, "What was that about?"

>i<-------------------//////////////

Meanwhile in the Hawk Dungeon, with a spatial location that's a fucking mystery to all. "Ahhh, a strong negative emotion, how perfect for my first foray. Let's take that lament and frustration, and turn it into something more... proactive." Hawk Moth monologued to none but himself. Cupping a pure white butterfly with his hands, projecting his power into it. It's body becoming a tainted black as a result. "Now, fly away, my little Akuma. Give that boy just the push he needs!"

>i<-------------------//////////////

Adrien was running for his life, a giant rock monster had suddenly appeared out of nowhere. Chasing after Charlemagne who'd shoved him out of the way of the brute's massive hand before running for who knows where. All he could to in regards to his friend was hope that nothing bad happened to him. In the rush of the moment, he'd somehow managed to physically lift up a fallen old man and carry him to the safety of his own house. But the man had managed to vanish before Adrien had the chance to apologize for not asking where he lived. But that led him to a new problem, a hexagonal jewelry box that had somehow found it's way into his bag.

It was probably some kinda gift from Charlemagne and thinking it as such, he opened it. To reveal a black ring from which erupted a ball of green light. That light eventually dimmed to reveal... some sort of mutant gremlin rat. It proceeded to yawn and stretch it's diminutive body like a cat would, opening it's fairly large green eyes to stare at him. "Heya champ! I-" Adrien threw the nearest object at the creature, said object just so happened to be a pillow. That the little gremlin creature just phased through like it was nothing. "Well that was rude."
