Amity had been seconds away from putting the Titan damned note in Luz’s locker, but of COURSE she just had to run into the human and when she was announced as Grom Queen all her leftover confidence had been drained. Now she was just running, vision blurred by tears.
She had no clue where she was going until she reached the entrance of the gym. After a few minutes of bawling her eyes out she heard the quiet sound of footsteps. “A Blight must never cry, dear.” Her mother’s words from Titan knows how long along at this point rang in her ears.
When she finally composed herself and gathered the courage to look up, she saw Luz and sighed to herself quietly. Of course she would chase after me. The witch thought to herself.
She heard Luz press the red button on a stand, opening up the Grom arena and lifting up two walls of weapons. Luz commented something about it being weird decor before Amity got her attention by correcting her.
“They're not for decoration. This arena is where I’ll make my debut as Grom Queen.” Luz looked confused. “Then, why don’t you seem excited?”
“Because this isn’t just some dance party.” Amity started before explaining the history behind Grom and what Grom royalty has to do. After a moment of silence Amity starts back up again. “The worst thing is that Grom can read minds and shapeshift into your worst fear, and mine is… very embarrassing." Amity says as she rubs the note within her pocket.
“If it worries you so much why don’t you just tell Bump you want out of this death match biz?” Luz asked. Amity sighed. She’s always looking out for other people. Maybe it was for the best that I didn't give her the note… she more than likely would have just rejected me and stopped being my friend.
“Thanks Luz, I’ll go do that.” Amity said before leaving the gym.
***************
Amity was marching around in a little mud clearing in the forest near Hexside when she heard what seemed to be a familiar human’s voice. She didn’t dare get her hopes up.
Her suspicions were confirmed after she got hit in the head by a stick and when she looked up to a light spell saw Luz.
“And here I thought this day-” Amity started before being dragged up to her feet by Luz and when she finally regained control of her feet in the slippery mud she was maybe an inch from the human. “Couldn’t get any worse.” She said as she pulled away from Luz to sit on a nearby log, with Luz plomping down in the mud.
“So…” Luz trailed off. “Did you talk to Bump?” She asked the witch. Amity just shook her head. “No… I’m Grom Queen, unless I can find a replacement… and who’d want to switch with me?” Amity asked herself.
After a second of silence she heard her crush answer the rhetorical question. “I would.” Amity was taken off guard. “What? No, I can’t let you do that. I don’t know what I’d do if you got hurt because I was a little embarrassed.” Amity said, barely even whispering the last part.
Even then Luz managed to catch it. “Why?” The human asked, genuinely curious. “Nevermind, forget I said anything.” The witch breathed out.
“Please, Amity, just answer me. Why aren’t you letting me help you?” Amity had tears building up in her eyes, but she wiped them away. “Just let me help!” Luz pleaded while starting to raise her voice ever so slightly. “No!” Amity snapped. “Why not?!” Luz yelled back.
“BECAUSE I LOVE YOU, IDIOT!” Amity’s breath hitched as she raised her hands to cover her mouth in a desperate attempt to take the words back. Tears formed in her eyes. The ensuing blush went to the tips of her ears and all over her face.
The witch dropped her hands to squeeze the hem of her Hexside uniform, her usual reaction to something embarrassing to get her feelings out. Closing her eyes and scrunching up her face in anticipation for the coming rejection.
After about 30 seconds of silence she peaked one of her eyes open, expecting to see that Luz had left her.
The last thing she had expected was to see Luz’s entire face covered in a blush and muttering trying to find the right words to say.
“Y-yo-you love ME?!” Luz said, surprise clear in her voice and on her face. The witch, not trusting her words, simply nodded.
The next thing Amity felt was Luz running up to her and wrapping her in a tight hug and giving her a quick peck on the cheek before pulling away from the hug.
Amity tentatively reached up to put a hand to her left cheek, where Luz had just kissed her, ears flapping harder and faster than they ever had.
Luz gasped. “Does Amity Blight get flustered when I kiss her?”
“S-Sh-Shut up!” Amity says as her face somehow got even more red and she shoves Luz.
“Hey, it’s getting late,” Luz starts, checking her phone. “We should head back home.” Amity nodded in agreement.
After a few minutes into their walk back one question was eating away at Amity.
“H-hey, Luz?” Amity called out.
“Yes, hermosa?”
“What does that mean? You know what nevermind. U-um… do you… do you want to be my girlfriend?” Amity manages to stumble out
“Well, you confessed and I did kiss you on the cheek so… yes!”
“C-can I kiss you?” The witch asked the human in front of her with paradoxical nervousness. “Of course!”
Luz turned around to face her girlfriend and put her arms around her waist, making the witchling blush.
Amity brought her hands up to the human’s cheeks and pulled her as she felt Luz pull her closer by the waist.
Next thing either of them know, their lips are touching and it is everything both girls could have hoped for and so much more at the same time.
When they finally separate to catch their breaths they look at each other lovingly. Luz reaches her hand out and Amity takes it, intertwining their fingers together as they walked together.
