Work Text:
Amity was just leaving Hexside to head back to Blight Manor when someone tapped her on the shoulder. She quickly turned around to see who had done that only to see the girl she’s had a massive crush on for a while.
“Hey Amity!” Luz chirped, as happy as always.
“Hey Luz.” Amity greeted back.
“Sorry for springing this on you last minute and feel free to say no but would you like to have a sleepover with me, Willow, and Gus at The Owl House?” Luz asked, clearly nervous about something, what that something is could be anything to Amity.
“Oh! Uhhh, sure! I just have to head to the Manor to get my things.” Amity replied.
“All right! See you in 20?”
“Yea, that should work.”
***************
After returning to the Manor and telling the twins to cover for her for the night, after what felt like endless teasing on where the youngest Blight was going Amity finally had everything packed up and was currently outside the Owl House with Hooty talking her ear off before Luz finally opened the door to spare the witch from such a fate.
The human quickly grabbed Amity’s hand making the witch blush and tense up a little bit before relaxing so that Luz wouldn’t notice anything.
Luz dragged Amity up the stairs into her bedroom where Willow and Gus already were.
They played some human realm game called Monopoly for the next few hours until Luz and Amity’s hand accidentally brushed and they looked away, blushes going to the tips of their ears.
This made Willow start up suddenly, “Okay, well me and Gus WERE going to just let you two figure this fully out on your own but we are SICK of you two so…” Willow trailed off. “Gus lock the door please.” She continued as Gus nodded and got up to walk over to the door.
Amity and Luz shared a confused look. Luz was the first to speak, “Willow, what do you mean?”
“Oh my Titannn!” Willow exclaimed, exasperation in her voice.
“Can you two please just talk about your crushes that everyone at school already knows about?” Gus asked.
The green haired witch and brown haired human both started blushing before Amity regained her composure, “What crush?” She said convincingly, or so she thought.
Willow put her hands to her face and dragged them down.
“We’re not stupid Amity, we see the way you look at her.” Willow said, nodding her head over to Luz, not wanting to have to outright tell the human.
Amity twirled her finger to summon a spell that would allow her, Willow, and Gus to talk without having Luz overhear their conversation.
“Look guys, I appreciate what you’re doing but Luz doesn’t like me the way I like her and I’ve made peace with that fact.” Amity said, sighing softly.
“So you’re telling me you DIDN’T see the way she was staring at you when you swooped down to save her like a romantic protagonist?” Willow questioned, slightly teasing the Blight, causing her to blush.
“W-wha-what do you mean by that…?” The witch asked, nervous.
“Oh, please! We saw the way you two glanced at each other after you two went back-to-back.” Gus cut in.
S-s-she was probably just embarrassed!” Amity explained away.
“So she’s quote ‘just embarrassed’ when she blushes from ear-to-ear every time you two talk?” Willow countered.
Amity had no counter to this so she just looked away.
“Just ask her out! What’s the worst that could happen?” Willow asked.
“Oh I don’t know! Reject me and stop being my friend maybe?!” Amity said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
“Okay, First off,” Gus started, “Luz won’t reject you.”
“And second off,” Willow interjected, “even if she did for some unexplainable reason we all know Luz would never do that.”
Amity just shrugged, “I guess…” She mumbled into her shoulder.
“Now go ask her out!” Willow said as she got rid of the magic sound-proof box Amity had summoned.
Once it was fully gone Amity took a deep breath in to steel her nerves before turning around to face the girl who she has been crushing on for Titan knows how long.
“Hey, Luz?” The green haired witch calls out to the human.
This gets Luz’s attention, who faces around to look at her crush.
“Yeah, Amity?”
“There has been something that I’ve been wanting to ask for a long time and I-” Titan why is this so hard. Amity curses to herself. Amity took another deep breath in to steel her nerves further.
“I was wondering if maybe you’d… wanttogooutwithme?” Amity rushed the last part out so fast Luz didn’t even know what she said.
“Could you repeat that? Slower please?” Luz asked.
“Do you want to go out with me?” Amity asked, instantly regretting what she had just said.
She felt tears well up in her eyes, scared to death she had just ruined their friendship.
She moved one hand up from the death grip it held onto the hem of her shirt to wipe her eyes.
When she did she saw that Luz was a stuttering, blushing mess, trying to find the right words.
“W-was I your Grom crush?” The human asked, Amity sheepishly nodded.
“Oh Titan, I feel like such an IDIOT!” Luz suddenly exclaimed, chuckling slightly.
This wasn’t what Amity was expecting, “Huh? For what?”
“When I offered to dance with you ‘instead’ I said ‘That’s what friends do.’” Luz clarified, her laughter starting up again.
Neither of them heard the soft click of the door unlocking and Willow and Gus stepping out of the room to give the two girls some illusion of privacy, they still wanted to eavesdrop.
“Welllll….” Amity trailed off, causing the human girl to hum in a questioning way and turn towards the witch. “You never did answer my question.”
Luz flushed in embarrassment, “Well, let’s fix that, Amity Blight, I would love to go out with you!” She exclaimed while they both giggled.
“Can I kiss you?” Amity suddenly blurted out. She felt her ears to heat up and started to apologize, “Sorr-” But before she could even finish the first word she felt Luz’s lips on her own and it was everything she had imagined and more.
Amity melted into the kiss and her eyes fluttered closed.
After what felt like an eternity but way too short at the same time they both separated for air. “Wow…” Luz breathed out as she gently .
“You have NO idea how long I’ve been wanting to do that.” Amity said with a nervous giggle.
At some point Eda must’ve joined in on the eavesdropping because when the two walked out instead of being able to scurry downstairs Gus and Willow ran directly into Eda.
“Did the lovebirds finally figure it out?” Eda asked right as Luz and Amity walked out, making them both blush, Willow just nodded.
Eda turned to face Luz and the youngest Blight, “Took you two long enough, Titan.” Eda teased before heading downstairs.
“Breakfast is ready!” She called from over her shoulder.
Willow and Gus went behind the newly formed couple as the human and witch walked down the steps together.
