Work Text:

The warm afternoon sun crept across the sky, with shades of various pinks and yellows painting the atmosphere. Freshly cut grass passed its scent around the warm air, a reminder of summer. Seated on a nearby bench, Choso observed his surrounds. It had only been a few hours sense he’d parted ways with his younger brother.

After a long day of nothing but brotherly shenanigans, Yuji had given a cheerful grin before leaving his brother.

“Today was lots of fun! Have fun on your date, see ya!” At his brother's words Choso had simply shaken his head and waved.

Although his words were encouraging, he couldn’t help but feel nervous. Sure, this wasn’t his first date with Yuki, but it still made him anxious.

“Heya handsome! You ready to go?” Came Yuki’s voice, which was slightly hard to hear due to the loud engine of the motorcycle.

She wore her usual leather jacket along with a dome helmet and goggles. The chopper motorcycle was black with some brown trimming, its large wheels gleaming in the sunlight.

A shy smile on his lip as he got up from the bench and walked towards her. Yuki removed her helmet and goggles, shaking her long blonde hair free and hopping off the bike.

“I just need to stretch my legs real quick!” She exclaimed while doing deep lunges and other stretches.

Wiping at her sweaty brows, she was taken by surprise when she felt lips brush against her left cheek. Choso smiled at her, and Yuki returned that smile before going to embrace him.

“I missed you! It’s crazy to think we haven’t gotten together at all this summer!” With her arms wrapped around his neck, she rested her head on his chest listening to the rhythmic sound of his heartbeat.

Burying his face in her blonde strands, all he could think about was how much he missed her.

“I missed you too. Let’s get together sooner next time.” Beaming up at him, she eagerly nods.

Gently rubbing at his right cheek and gently placing a kiss there, she separates from his embrace and gestures towards the motorcycle.

“You ready?”

His response is given once he goes to sit behind her, arms around her waist and breathing in her scent. Yuki laughs, afterwards reviving the engine and before long they are off.

Hair tousled in the wind beneath their helmets, while the sound of their curated playlist flew through the air, as they continued speeding through the open road. It was truly a sight to behold, the usual stresses of everyday life seemed to fall away.

Curses would always exist, and people would always be in danger, but it was in those small moments where people had to cling onto even the tiniest of good moments.

“What do you think of the playlist babe? I wanted something that screamed “super sexy couple!” But like also two sappy lovers! You know what I mean?” Yuki practically yelled over the blasting music and engine.

At her question, Choso tilted his head to get a better look of her face, even though it was simply her side profile, his lips brushed against her ear.

“I love it. It suits us really well. Feels like a scene out of those strange movies you make us watch.”

Laughing out loud, Yuki found it hilarious how her boyfriend referred to those cheesy rom com movies they watched as “strange.” He simply smiled in response, adoring the sound of her laughter. It was like the embodiment of pure joy.

Even when they were apart, her smooth and sassy voice played in his head constantly. He wanted to speak to her all the time, but when given the opportunity he always seemed to trip over his words or his mind would go completely blank. She just had that affect on him.

“Have I ever told you how silly you can be? Like even when you aren’t trying! You always have me on the edge of my seat! Literally and figuratively! I mean I nearly fell off the bike just now!” Her words managed to leave him speechless once again. Now he was blushing again.

Nobody had ever told him he was funny. Then again, he was slightly concerned by the fact that he had that much of an impact on her ability to not fall off the bike.

“When you say stuff like that, I never know what to say in response. I am not used to stuff like this, but I want it to become second nature. I want to be comfortable expressing how much I love you.”

While he speaks, he goes to rest his head on her right shoulder. For a moment, Yuki runs her fingers through his scalp. Her silent response is reassuring and speaks more volumes than any words could.

The rest of the way, the pair are silent, admiring the beautiful sunset accompanied by the songs that continue to play. By the time they arrive at their destination, the sky is pitch black, only illuminated by a batch of stars. The world is silent, like they are the only people who exist.

“I know I say this a lot, but I mean it every time. I love you Choso. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, for as long as I live.” Elbows resting on the silver guardrail, she peers up at him.

His eyes seem to twinkle with stardust, and she has to hold back a squeal of adoration. She can’t help but wonder how she ended up with a handsome and sweet man like him.

Just then he turns to look at her, a smile on his face that nearly makes her melt to the floor. Slowly, but surely, he inches even closer to her. Their breath mingles in the little space between, and their hearts beat quickly with anticipation.

Searching his eyes, Yuki caresses his cheek gently. Choso breath hitches, noticing how close they are. Nearly nose to nose he feels her breath against his lips.

“I don’t deserve you. You’re so perfect, it’s like I’m dreaming!” Yuki whispers, and that is when it finally happens. To both of their surprise, Choso is the one to initiate the kiss. Practically melting against each other, they almost forget they need air to breathe.

Choso, feeling lighted and in a daze rests his forehead against Yuki’s while she also catches her breath.

Smiling at him, once again seeing his eyes dazzle, she laughs. It’s music to his ears. Choso also begins to laugh.

“I’m the one who doesn’t deserve you. You’re so perfect I don’t even know what to do with myself. I love you, Yuki. Sorry it took so long for me to say it.” Pulling her closer, he places a kiss on her cheek.

“Don’t apologize silly! I knew you loved me before you even said it! Words can be a struggle to get out, so don’t ever feel bad for being nervous or uncertain about them!” Yuki’s words fill him with comfort, and Choso goes to embrace her instantly.

Staring up at the starry sky together, the pair reflect on their day. Truth is, nobody knows what tomorrow holds or how the possibility of them beating torn apart is a constant threat. Still, just for now, they’ll simply exist with motorcycles and stars for company.
