Nico was nervous and excited. After 10 years him and Lewis were going to try dating again. They’ve been texting for a couple months, even talking (outside of interviews) at races Nico was at. So going on a date was the next step. It’s been years, almost 12, since they went in a date. They wanted to keep it low key and decided for a date at a nice restaurant in Monaco. Nico let Lewis pick the place. The place was small, only a handful of tables that were spread out so they felt like they were the only ones in the room.
“I’m glad we’re giving us another chance. I have missed you these past few years.” Nico said, sipping from his wine glass. They had finished their food but weren’t quite ready to leave yet.
“I am too.” Lewis smiled at him from across the table.
“Are you ready for the night to be over, or can we keep going?”
“I don’t think I’m ready to leave you yet. Want to take a walk?” Lewis smiled at Nico over the table, keeping eye contact with the other man as he spoke.
“I think that’s a great idea.” After paying they headed out, walking along the water.
“Is it alright if I hold your hand?” Nico asked, scared to look at Lewis. Lewis didn’t respond just reached out, taking Nico’s hand in his own. Nico smiled to himself, enjoying the feeling of the other man’s hand in his own against after all this time. They walked around for almost an hour before ending up at Nico’s apartment building.
“I enjoyed tonight.” Lewis said. He was now standing in front of Nico while still holding his hand.
“I did too. I can’t wait to do this again, hopefully soon.”
“Yeah soon. Good night Nico.” Lewis leaned forwards, pressing a gentle kiss against Nico’s cheek.
“Good night Lewis.” Nico squeezed Lewis’ hand one also time before heading inside the building. As soon as he was in his apartment he pressed a hand against his cheek where Lewis had kissed him, a soft smile on his face. He can’t believe they were doing this again, he just hoped this time went a lot better than last time.
