Work Text:
They've just walked into their apartment, sweaty and sandy after a long day playing beach volleyball with the boys and swimming in the ocean. Though Minho often opted to simply watch from the sidelines, he still collapses on the couch grumbling about how tired he is.
Chan coos, “Did baby play too much?”
Minho turns away, pouting, “Mmm,” closing his eyes against the squishy couch cushions.
“No love, you can't sleep now or you'll be miserable later.”
“I'm not sleeping,” Minho mumbles into the couch cushions while wiggling to get comfier, clearly getting sleepier by the second.
“C’mon baby, you need to at least shower to get the sand off you.”
“Nooooooo, ‘m comfy.”
Chan leans down to whisper while running his fingers through Minho’s hair.
“It’ll be nice, love. I'll even wash your hair for you.”
At that Minho stills and takes his face slightly out of the cushions, clearly intrigued, so Chan gently picks him up in a princess carry and Minho lets himself be brought to the shower with his arms around his boyfriend’s neck and face pressed against his chest. Minho nuzzles in and hums happily against Chan’s soft and well worn tank top.
Chan sets him on his feet in the bathroom and chuckles as Minho keeps small fistfulls of the shirt and grumbles about the loss of closeness.
“C’mon baby, you’ll feel better after.”
He gently helps Minho undress and gets him settled to sit under the running water while Chan removes his own clothes. Minho closes his eyes and lazily rinses sand off of himself, relishing the feeling of the cool water on his sun warmed skin.
When Chan steps in, Minho scooches away from the water to make room and watches while the older sighs contently and lets the water run through his hair and fingers.
After a quick rinse Chan sits down as well, with his knees slightly to his chest, and motions for Minho to come.
He quietly moves to sit in front of him like they've done many times before, leaning back on his shins like a chair and resting his head on his knees.
They talk softly about little things they enjoyed or found funny at the beach, while Chan gets all the sand out of Minho’s hair using the handheld showerhead.
As tiny drops of water land on his face he remembers something, then quietly recalls with a sleepy smile:
“One time, when I was washing my hair, I squeezed my eyes shut without thinking and then got scared because I thought someone turned off the lights, even though it was the middle of the day and the lights weren't even on to begin with.”
He can hear Chan’s smile when he says, “Pabo.”
Minho lets out a small chuckle, “There’s a reason I’m in paboracha.”
“You're such a silly kitty.”
After a moment, Minho leans his head back as far as he can, looking upside down at Chan’s pretty sunkissed cheeks, and the subtle freckles dotting them.
“’M your silly kitty. Kiss?” he says, before puckering his lips and closing his eyes waiting.
Chan’s eyes soften at the sight and he leans down to press a light kiss to his forehead and one to his nose.
Minho frowns and opens his eyes. “No Channie, I meant on my mouth.” He tries to pout but Chan can see the corners of his lips trying to creep into a smile.
“My silly kitty,” he coos.
Chan finally obliges and presses soft slow kisses to his lips. Minho hums happily as he gets what he wanted. Chan can’t help but smile too as he feels Minho’s smile against his lips.
His hands find Minho’s shoulders and he slowly caresses down his arms. Minho responds with a content sigh and brings one of his hands to his boyfriend’s cheek as they continue to kiss languidly.
When Chan pulls away, they just look at each other, blinking slowly with smitten smiles on their faces.
Minho rubs his thumb lightly at the soft spot under Chan’s ear. He leans into the touch and closes his eyes.
“You'd make a good spider-man,” Minho says.
Chan huffs out a laugh and kisses his hairline, before wrapping his arms around him as best he can with his legs being in the way.
He leans his cheek on Minho’s head and whispers a barely audible “I love you.”
Minho feels his heart squeeze at the sheer affection and adoration in his voice. He quickly moves to wrap his arms around Chan’s and press his cheek to the inside of his bicep.
“I love you.”
They stay that way for a few moments, warm all the way through, the touch and the golden evening sunlight creating a lovely relaxing atmosphere after their full day.
They're quiet still as Chan slowly massages shampoo into Minho’s hair. Chan sees him relax even further as he hums whatever new melody he happens to have in his mind. By the time he starts rinsing Minho’s hair again he's slipped a few inches down his shins.
Chan gently tugs him back up so the water doesn't run down his face, “What am I gonna do with you if you fall asleep on me in the shower, love?”
Minho once again denies that he's falling asleep but keeps his eyes closed.
While Minho's letting his conditioner sit in his hair, he watches quietly as Chan washes himself from the day. He likes to test himself to see if he remembers the order of Chan’s shower routine but it's a really easy test to pass because his brain holds on tightly to every little bit of information about Chan.
When Chan turns away from him towards the water, Minho can't resist tapping his butt and giggles when it jiggles.
Chan just sighs and rolls his eyes, “I should've seen that coming.”
“Yeah you should’ve.”
Even though any beach remnants are long gone, they stand under the soothing water for a bit longer, sharing sweet words and more soft kisses in each other's arms, mindlessly trailing hands across warm skin. Once they're both sufficiently pruny they finally step out and dry each other with plush towels. Yes it would be easier to each dry themselves but they’re not gonna waste an opportunity for more hugs.
After drying off, Minho is about to walk out of the bathroom but Chan catches his wrist and lifts him onto the counter before Minho can even question it. Minho is confused at first but the tension leaves him when he sees Chan reach for Minho’s favourite after-sun cream.
After failing to produce any words, Minho simply admires Chan’s focused face as he rubs the cream onto his arms and legs, making sure not to miss any spots.
Because he often forgets to reapply and hates the feeling of it on his skin, Minho never ends up wearing enough sunscreen so he’ll usually benefit from some after-sun care. Now Minho forgot that too but thanks to his doting hyung he doesn't have to worry about it.
Chan finally meets his eyes after he deems his boyfriend perfectly lotioned and Minho couldn’t keep the love from showing in his eyes even if he tried.
“Thank you, love.”
“Of course, baby. I know you don't like the feeling of it on your hands, it's my pleasure to take care of you.” Chan cradles his face gently before pulling him in for a kiss. Minho’s smile makes it difficult to properly kiss him back, so he pulls away to pepper kisses all over Chan’s face instead. The giggles it brings out of the older are music to Minho’s ears.
Chan once again lifts Minho like he weighs nothing and Minho has just enough time to koala onto him with a squeak before he’s being carried the short distance to their bedroom
They get in their comfiest pjs (which for Chan is just boxers) before getting in bed and lying on their sides staring at each other with tired but fond smiles.
“Today was fun,” Minho says quietly, gently pushing some hair out of his boyfriend’s face and running his nails along his scalp.
“Mmh yeah,” Chan whispers, leaning into the touch, his eyes fluttering shut automatically.
“I love seeing you smile with the boys.”
Chan lets out an adorable embarrassed noise and turns onto his stomach to bury his face into his pillow to hide his blush and goofy smile.
“Aww you’re so cute when you’re shy,” Minho says.
“No you’re cuter.” The sound is muffled by the pillow.
“Nuh-uh you’re definitely cuter, Chan-ah” he says, scratching the short hair at the nape of his neck.
Chan goes soft under his touch and grumbles nonsense into the pillow, knowing he can't win this game when it comes to his stubborn boyfriend.
Minho presses slow kisses wherever he can reach on Chan’s shoulder, neck, and jaw, which finally makes him come out of his hiding spot to meet Minho’s lips with his own. The kisses get more and more lazy until Minho pulls away with a final peck to Chan’s pillowy lips.
“Goodnight, jagi, I love you,” he says, running his fingers down his back.
Chan melts into the mattress and mumbles out an I love you back.
Minho continues petting him softly up and down his back with the tips of his fingers and blunt nails.
Chan laughs quietly when Minho’s hand starts to slow and go limp on his back. But it's not long before he falls asleep too, lulled by the sound of Minho’s deep breathing.
