Work Text:
There is nothing worse about Will than his memory. He can’t remember where places are, where he last left his favorite hat, or where he put his favorite coffee mug. ‘I ran the dishwasher last night and swore I put it in there, where is it?’ He would say, while scratching the back of his neck. Next to all those things was vitamins, he always forgot to take his vitamins. Morning and night supplements, they were becoming increasingly annoying to take because he was continuously forgetting as well as getting reminded by Macklin. Mack seemed like he was almost getting annoyed by Will forgetting to take his vitamins.
There was one specific vitamin that Will Smith Hockey always forgot to take, and that was his Magnesium supplement. He would forget, but not actually, it was the only vitamin he repeatedly remembered to take, which was annoying. He saw absolutely no reason to take it. Mack told him: ‘Will. Your dietician told you that you don’t get enough magnesium in your meal plan so you have to take these supplements, whether you like it or not’ Will would swallow his scoff and smile small at his boyfriend, squeak out a soft ‘okay baby’ then carry on with his day. Macklin would make quick strides towards him and leave a quick peck on his lips, smile with his teeth while giving him the most adorable puppy dogs eyes, which spoke words on their own ‘I love you and care about you, that’s all it is’ they would say. Will knew it was true. Mack would move into step, starting his day too, (they would usually do something together).
On one random night Will got these incredibly painful feelings in his calves at probably two in the morning. He didn’t know why, but he had an irritating feeling that it had something to do with the description his dietician left for him when your body is lacking the necessary minerals muscles need to simply relax.
“If your body isn’t supplied with the proper nutrients it needs then there will be uh- rather uncomfortable repercussions if you will-.” Oh there is more.
“Magneisum is one of the most scientifically studied minerals, our body needs it, immensely. After tons of research we’ve realized that not enough magnesium can lead to muscle cramps, aches, and so on in athletes. I’ve had soccer players that couldn’t run in games because of muscle fatigue as well as not even being able to straighten their legs after a seven minute shift. Magnesium is so important for athletes, if you want to play without the pain, I would recommend taking two, two hundred milligram Magnesium supplements before bed, and putting the bottle in a place you will remember, that will certainly help you. I promise you won’t regret it, the muscle aches can be incredibly painful. This could be because of a lack of magnesium, or even potassium.”
Mack was in the room too, nodding along, taking in all the information just in case Will missed something. He most definitely didn’t.
That lady stressed it, irritatingly. On purpose to convince Will. But for some reason, Will just could not convince himself he needed the vitamins. So he wasn’t taking them. A week had gone by since the visit and he was feeling great. No muscle cramps. No tight muscles. No random aches. Well until that one random night of course.
Tonight.
“Holy shit-,” Will grumbled. He sat up quick in bed, Mack shifting next to him, letting out incoherent nothings into the pillow.
The pain was immediately awful, and it was only getting worse, staggeringly fast.
“Oh my fucking God, Ow, uh, Fuck.” Will held his calf and tried pressing his thumb into the aching muscle. He saw white behind his eyes. That certainly didn’t help.
He shoved off the comforter with his free hand and weekly tried to make his way to the bathroom so he wouldn’t disturb his precious Macklin.
He wobbled into the bathroom holding his left calf. His eyes rimmed with tears. It hurt so bad. ‘Oh my God’ he whined, squeezing his eyes shut pathetically. He sat on the toilet and leaned down, gripping his calf with both hands, rubbing desperately, wanting so badly for the pain to go away. ‘Ow ow ow’ he murmured, he was seriously almost crying. He raised and sat back, letting out a pathetic whimper.
He heard footsteps coming towards him and then the door of the bathroom opened, of which he didn’t realize he closed.
“Will? Are you okay?” His boyfriend asked, tired eyes on full display. Will immediately felt bad for waking him up. Mack slowly moved towards him, kneeling down in front of him. Inspecting his face. Mack raised his hands to his boyfriend’s face and held it, before moving one to drag his hand through his curls. Feeling the leaking sweat from his hair line, grimacing. The pain stopped momentarily. His boyfriend could just do that.
“I’m okay baby, you can go back to bed” Will whispers, lightly smiling at Mack, before putting a hand behind his head and bringing his lips to his and kissing him softly. Mack kissed back but ignored him completely. Expected.
“What happened?” Mack said, his voice was so gentle. Will loved him so dearly. Always so good at distracting him.
“It’s just- my calves hurt, it’s nothing really,” he whimpered pathetically, pain in his right calf forming. “Oh fuck-,” he said, no time to prepare eh? Just gonna come full force? He let go of his boyfriend’s head and the back of the toilet. Oh? The toilet? Didn’t even realize he was holding that. Wow he was holding that hard. White knuckles. He grabbed at his other calf, the left one sitting there limply, almost painless now.
“Oh my god Will what’s happening,” Mack’s almost crying too. Not knowing what to do with his hands, Mack moves them through the air around Will’s body, not touching in case he springs pain onto another part of Will's body.
Will sits up again and grabs both of Macklin’s arms, pulling them behind his shoulders so Macklin can sit on his lap.
“C’mere baby, I’m okay really, it’s just muscle cramps,” Will whispers in Macklin's ear. Nudging his jaw with his nose, he leaves soft kisses on Macklin’s throat. Ignoring the pain so he can comfort his boyfriend.
“Muscle cramps?” Mack whispers, leaning his head into Will’s shoulder. “I thought you were dying, but really it’s just your consequences for not taking your Magnesium supplements like a silly boy.” Mack attempts at a giggle, making a gargling sound. Will scoffs lightly into Macklin’s throat, digging his teeth into the thick skin. Mack yelps a little, bouncing on Will’s lap. A small shiver runs through Will’s body as pleasure pools in his stomach because of his half chub. ‘When did-?’ ‘Not right now’ he tells himself silently.
“I knew it was why, I’m sorry for scaring you. I just didn’t wanna disturb your beauty sleep,” Will says all coquette. Giving Will his best handsome smile and shiny eyes so Mack drops the topic so they can head back to bed. Although Will does kind of like their position on the toilet. Odd. He does also still hurt a little and doesn’t know if he could straighten his legs. Mack doesn’t give in though, anyways.
“William Charles Patrick Smith-,” Mack starts, and oh boy does he always continue after that. “You need to take your magnesium, or else you’re gonna continue to disrupt our sleep cycle.” Mack has a playful glint in his eyes as he quietly lectured Will for his actions. “You can say ‘okay baby’ all you want but if you don’t actually take your vites I’m gonna have to keep lecturing you and being an annoying boyfriend.” He’s never annoying.
Will smiled softly. The adoring in his boyfriend's eyes sat there on full display. He just loved those eyes, they were, are, so beautiful. He is so lucky. He opened his mouth to speak.
“I know baby it’s just hard to remember you know?” Trying a convincing voice, very fond.
Mack opens his mouth to respond then closes it. Then it reopens.
“I remind you every night!” He squeaks, throwing his hands in the air in desperation. It’s true, he does.
Will giggles lightly at that.
“Whatever Macklin, I’ll take the stupid vitamins,” he spurts un-meanly, rubbing his hands up Mack’s sides lovingly. Still staring at those beautiful eyes that have always stared back. Being with Mack has always made him feel such warm waves of comfort, even in moments like these. Mack doesn’t respond though, he just puts his arms around Will and squeezes almost roughly, laying his head on his shoulder, he sighs, content.
They stay like that for a while, Will moving his hands to Mack’s back, rubbing soothing circles on Mack's bare back. Mack moves his left hand to Will's hair and runs his fingers through it, tugging lightly just like how Will likes it.
Will leaves light kisses on the side of Mack’s face and down his neck. Right under his ear on the sensitive spot that always makes Mack shiver.
“I love you so much,” Will says, a whisper into Mack’s ear. “You mean everything to me, I would do anything for you, even if that means taking silly supplements that do nothing.”
Mack tugs his hair harder, almost painful.
“They don’t do nothing,” Mack says giggling. ”But I love you too, more than anything.”
They got up after a little bit longer, holding hands, making their way back to the bed.
They crawled in, Will laying on his back while Mack planted himself on top of Will, his head on Will’s chest, hair tickling Will’s chin. Will brought his hand to Mack’s hair to run his hand through it. Sleep catching both of them easily.
Hopefully he won't wake up until the next morning.
—
Thankfully he made it through the night. Or, I guess. Mack is waking him up by poking him.
“Willy,” Mack says gently, lightly poking him in the side. He’s holding something in both of his hands.
“Yes mackers?” Will asks, he sits up and rubs his eyes. Mack takes a seat next to him on the bed.
“I brought you your vitamins. I also brought some more water for you because the water bottle on your night stand looks old and the water is probably gross. Also I brought a banana because you shouldn’t take vitamins on an empty stomach. That’s what my dad has always told me.” Oh how he loved Macklin Richard Celebrini.
Will kinda just stared at Mack lamely. Mack stared back, raising an eyebrow. He gently shoved the things he was holding into Will’s lap and sat there calmly, waiting for him to acknowledge more than his eyes. Will just kept staring dumbly.
“Will,” Mack said. Not quite in question.
“Oh right,” Will said. Mack perked up at finally being noticed. “Thank you baby.”
Mack blushed at his mushy tone, smiling soft.
“Of course, I’ll do this for you every morning if you need me too,” Mack said sweetly, fidgeting with his hands, bouncing a little on the bed.
Will grabbed one of Mack’s hands and rubbed soothing circles on it with his thumb.
“No need, I’ll remember at night from now on,” Will said, Mack smiled all toothy at him. “That way we can cuddle when we wake up.”
Mack just laughed out loud.
“You’re such a loser,” Mack said.
Will pulled him in for a hug like the loser he is.
