Chapter Text
He sprinted down the seemingly endless hallway, his breath shaking. The lights, often blindingly bright, constrasting with the terrible situation they were all in were dim and made everything appear like sillhoutes. More fitting, but still disturbing. He hadn't seen her since the awards show, hadn't even talked to her during it. The last time they spoke was during their argument, why the *bonk* couldn't he have just not been a jerk for once? Those things he said were just meant to get her to go away so he couldn't hurt her, not make her feel like ... she was the issue, cause she wasn't. He was.
Way to go, Jax.
He thought to himself
You just HAD to go and mess everything up, just like you did with...
His self-berating stopped as he neared the door with Pomni's cartoon jester face on it. She looked as if she was about to break down into a crying mess. She'd probably already passed that point, all because a rubberhose rabbit couldn't just think before he told her that she was merely a "plaything"
and that he got "joy out of making her suffer." Too late to take that back now, he just couldn't let another innocent person abstract.
Jax gripped the golden handle as his palms began to sweat uncontrollably, as if the blood on his hands was forming rain that would make everyone's lives worse.
Please Pom-Pom, just please be okay.
The door flew open as he barreled into the bright red and blue room. His eyes so clouded with tears he didn't even notice the thing looming over him.
Pomni was completely unrecognisable. She was once the shortest human in the circus, but now she stood about 3 times his height. Her once vibrant red and blue jester costume had been replaced with a glitching mass of shadow-like code. Glowing eyes covered her body, lifeless and unfeeling, like those of a ghost. Despite her lack of outward emotion, he could feel her rage. The abstracted prepared to pounce and make him suffer like she did
"I'm sorry Pomni," he sputtered through tears. " I'm so sorry,"
And then everything went black...
