   Midori sleeps on the night after seeing her father again. It's not a pleasant dream.

   (Kidquest AU: midori was mainly raised by mozu, with kaze dropping in often to care for her for a few months before going back out on a mission. he was just out on a mission for longer than usual, she thought.)

   Her father stared down at her, scarf fluttering in the stale air. His face was covered in wounds, a scar right over both of his eyes. A longer wound cut across the middle of his face, tucking into his clothes. His eyes were blank.

   He didn't speak. But his gaze showed disappointment.
