Work Text:
Grian sat on the edge of one of the bridges forming sky net. They were waiting for Joel and Jimmy to arrive, the three of them had important matters to discuss, but they were still nowhere to be seen. Well, not nowhere.
Being so high up in the server really gave Grian a good view of all that went on below. He supposed that was kind of the point of sky net. That at the traps they could set together.
Together.
It had been a little while since the three of them did something properly together. They looked down from the bridge, seeing many familiar faces, but his eyes followed the path of two that were meant to be more then just familiar to him.
Joel and Jimmy were taking a long path to the ladder. Grian may have been a good distance away, but he could still see their movements well enough to see they were in no rush to get to them.
The two were laughing, arms were flailing, they were having a good time. Without Grian. They were always only having a good time when Grian was nowhere to be seen.
It's not like he was jealous, Grian refused to be jealous over something like their teammates spending time together, but they couldn't help but feel a little hurt.
Grian watched the duo walk along the path, slowly getting closer. He laughed when Joel pushed Jimmy into the water. It felt almost as if Grian was there with their two friends, but he wasn't invited, so he wouldn't properly join.
They watched as Joel helped Jimmy back out of the water. Something in his chest twisted. Joel never pushed Grian into water, nor did Jimmy. It's not like they would want their friends to do that, but it still felt odd. And the past few times he had messed with Jimmy in one way or another, there was no laughter from the others, at least not the same type being exchanged between Joel and Jimmy right now, without Grian.
It made sense that they would be closer, after all, they made empires together in some other server, Grian only ever spent time with them here.
Maybe Grian deserved to be a third wheel to their duo. It's not like they ever tried all that hard to integrate themself into their friendship. He probably did something in the past to deserve being so left out.
Grian noticed Joel and Jimmy approach the base of the ladder finally, but they paused. Neither started climbing, likely not wanting to put a halt onto their conversation for the few minutes it took to reach sky net.
Grian wasn't jealous, he just needed to accept the fact that he was a third wheel in the Bad Boys.
