Work Text:
Robbie was really beginning to regret coming along to Wonderland to help Red and Pink save their mother. Things had been going fine for all of five minutes before Maddox found them and started cursing things.
One second he was trapped in a shrinking room and the next he was free falling out of the sky with Felix Facilier of all people. None of the others were in sight, so he was stuck alone with a VK.
The two of them landed in the center of a large teacup with a loud thump each.
"What the hell was that?" Robbie asked, as he tried to sit up and catch his bearings.
"How would I know?" Felix asks back.
Robbie is the first one to fully sit up and when he looks over the teacup he sees nothing but ocean all around them. "Uh… Felix? This doesn't look so good."
"What do you mean?" Felix asks, as he sits up and looks around as well. "Are we seriously stranded in a teacup in the middle of an ocean?"
Robbie just nods his head not having a proper answer for him.
Felix groans and shakes his head. "I don't see any way out of this."
"Use your cards or something!"
"My cards tell the future, they don't save people stuck in the ocean!" Felix yells back annoyed with Robbie. "Don't you have something in that satchel that can help us or is it as useless as my cards?"
Robbie furrows his brows and opens his satchel. "I have a miniature bow and some arrows. So, nothing that'll help."
"Great we're both trapped and we're both useless. Glad to have figured that out." Felix says, rolling his eyes.
Robbie opens is mouth to retort back when the teacup is hit with a strong wave. Water splashes over the edges and into the cup, drenching both of them.
The waves continue crashing getting rougher with each hit and the teacup is swept up by them. Both boys scream as another aggressive wave throws the teacup into the air.
"I don't like this ride!" Robbie yells as he grabs onto the edge of the cup with his arms, Felix is on the opposite side doing the same.
"It's just a storm, it has to pass eventually right?" Felix says, though he sounds unsure.
The waves continue crashing into the cup and pushing them further and further out to sea. The storm picks up and this time when the teacup catches air, it doesn't stay upright. It flips upside down, and throws both boys overboard into the water below.
The aggressive tide threw both boys into the air and across the beach, into part of Wonderland's extensive forest.
Robbie is the first to sit up, clutching at his head as he tries to get the world around him to stop spinning. "I am never doing something like that ever again."
"Neither am I, that was horrible!" Felix says, climbing out of the bush he landed in.
"Do you have any idea where we are or what that was?" Robbie asked.
Felix sat up while quickly shaking his head, like he was trying to wake himself up. "Not a single one."
Felix got up and reached out his hand to help Robbie stand, the two of them looking around at their new surroundings.
"This doesn't look like anywhere we were earlier does it?" Felix asks, unable to pinpoint where they are.
"Definitely not. There were those zebra-giraffe things at the entrance, and those flamingos in the garden. I don't see any of those guys here."
"I think we sort of killed those flamingos, so I don't think we'd see them even if we had landed in that garden." Felix grimaces.
"We should try to find the others. They're probably looking for us." Robbie said, trying to sound hopeful. "At least I hope that's what they're doing."
"Yeah, that's a good idea. We should head north." Felix says pointing in front of them.
"I don't think that's north." Robbie says, shaking his head.
"Does that mean that's north?" Felix asks, pointing in the opposite direction.
"No..." Robbie says, his voice trailing off unsure. "The stories say everything is backwards in Wonderland. So, if we want to go north that means we should head towards the south!"
"Well, which way is south then?"
"I… don't know."
Felix groans and facepalms, dragging his hand down his face. "Let's just find the nearest trail and follow that."
"Yeah, that's smart." Robbie says.
Robbie and Felix begin their trek through the woods in relative silence. The silence feels awkward though, heavy in a way. Robbie can't help but try to break the tension somehow.
"So, you're Facilier's only son. What's it like having two older sisters." Robbie asked.
He had heard stories of the eldest and middle Facilier children. He hadn't known much about Felix though, even with them being in the same grade.
"It's probably similar to having an older brother. What's that like?" Felix asks, turning the question back on Robbie.
"You're siblings are closer in age to you than my brother is to me, so it definitely is not the same. We weren't raised together, he was already off to college before I was even in elementary school." Robbie said, kicking a rock that blocked his path.
"Oh…" Felix said, he voice trailing off. "I guess that is different. Freddie and Celia weren't that much older than me."
"Which is why I was asking what it was like having two older sisters." Robbie said insistently.
Felix shrugged his shoulders unsure of how to answer. "I don't really know. I mean Freddie went to Auradon when I was just a toddler. So, I never really saw her until the barrier came down. Then a few years later Celia got chosen to leave the Isle too. Sure, the barrier came down permanently a few days after that. But I was still the forgotten Facilier."
Robbie nodded his head listening intently to what Felix had to say. He didn't think that being closer in age to your siblings could leave someone feeling a similar way to how he felt with his brother.
"Maybe having older siblings and being the youngest child is overrated."
Felix chuckles at that and nods his head. "Yeah, maybe it is."
Robbie stops walking and smiles over at Felix. "Gosh, this is weird. Do we actually have things in common?"
"It appears so. Never thought I'd be relating to an HK." Felix says, smiling back at Robbie.
"Is there anything else we have in common?" Robbie asks, quickly filling the space between them not allowing for another awkward silence. "Like maybe our favorite colors? Mine's orange, obviously." Robbie says, pointing to the dyed tips of his hair.
"Yeah, I'm not the biggest fan of the color orange. I'm more of a purple guy." Felix says, taking out his cards and thoughtlessly doing tricks with them.
Robbie huffs and crosses his arms over his chest. "What's wrong with the color orange? It's the color of sunsets, and foxes, and uh oranges."
Felix raises an eyebrow at Robbie in amusement and shakes his head. "Wow, you're really good at selling your favorite color. Though I do like sunsets, so I guess it isn't the worst color ever."
Robbie nods his head with a smile. "See I have taste!"
"Don't get full of yourself now Robbie." Felix says, jokingly.
The two never found a trail, walking aimlessly until they saw a large tree in the distance. "That's a huge landmark, we should go to it. Maybe that's where they went." Robbie asks
Felix shrugs his shoulders and nods his head. "That's probably our best bet. At least we have a set destination we're trying to reach now."
As the two get closer to the Lumoria Tree they hear music coming from it.
"Felix do you hear that?" Robbie asks, excitedly as the music gets louder the closer they get.
"Who's playing music this loud at this hour?" Felix asks.
"Wait! Do you hear the voices? That sounds like Luis!" Robbie says, grasping Felix's forearm.
"And Hazel's! We found them! Come on, let's go!"
Felix grabs Robbie's hand and starts running towards the tree pulling the slightly shorter boy along with him.
As the two get closer they start pushing through the brush to get to their friends. "We made it!"
"Felix?" They hear Hazel's voice yell out.
"We made it!" Robbie repeats, slouching a bit in relief at the sound of a familiar voice.
They break into a clearing and see the sleeping Smee twins and Luis.
"Robbie!" The Madrigal boy calls out moments before Robbie crashes into him.
Robbie crashed into Luis and was hugging him at a strange angle. His arms wrapped around the boy's waist, and his head resting on his chest despite them being the same height. Luis wraps one of his arms around Robbie's back and he runs the other hand through Robbie's hair. "You're okay!"
Felix was similarly being surrounded by Hazel and the Smee twins. Hazel gave him a quick hug before the Smee's all but pushed her away to tackle him themselves.
"How did you guys find us?" Hazel asks, looking between the two of them.
"We heard the singing," Robbie said, while trying to catch his breath. "It was such beautiful singing."
Felix couldn't help but notice how handsy Robbie and Luis seemed to be with each other. Neither of them came off as the clingy, naive type like the Smees. So he couldn't help but wonder what the true nature of their relationship was.
Pink walked up to Felix offering him a teacup. "Tea?" She asks, with a large smile on her face.
Without even thinking first Felix hits the teacup out of Pink's hand, causing it to fall to the ground and shatter. "No tea!"
"What happened out there?" Hazel asks, concerned.
"Don't ask." Both boys say simultaneously.
"I know how to stop my father." Max says, stepping into the clearing. "We steal his Oraculum, it's his most prized possession."
"We'll steal it and use it to get mom back." Red says, nodding her head.
"We need to get to my dad's cottage. That's where he keeps all his inventions." Max says, the group forming a circle as they try and come up with the best course of action.
The group doesn't even notice the queen's playing card that is looping circles around them until it's too late.
Felix didn't even know that he'd fallen asleep until he was being woken up by Red's voice. "Hey guys, wake up!"
The ten teenagers slowly startle awake, only to realize that they're now miniature.
"Is this a dream or something?" Robbie asks, looking around.
"It can't be, I'd never dream of myself this small." Luis says, shaking his head.
Felix notices that both HK boys gravitate towards each other again. This time Luis initiated the touching.
They get startled by the sound of wings flapping only for a butterfly to fly overhead. "Hi Tabitha!" Pink says.
"It's huge! We're toast. Literally!" Felix says.
"Smees, go climb that flower to get a better look." Hazel instructs the twins.
Squirmy runs ahead to do as he was told, but the second he jumps off the chess board the flower comes to life and tries to attack him.
Squirmy rushes back onto the board, sliding backwards away from it.
"Okay. I've got an aggressively hot tip. We stay on the board." Robbie says.
That's when the board lights up and a bunch of human-like chess pieces appear on the other side of the board.
A cat's face appears on the timers to tell them if they want out they need to capture the king, and not get caught themselves.
"Hey, everyone, he's challenging us to a game of chess. Line up on the squares." Chloe says, taking charge of the situation. "Chess is all about strategy. The classic first move is pawn to E4. So Robbie move up two squares."
Robbie hesitates for a moment before nodding and doing as Chloe suggested. But the move backfires and after a loud mechanical whirring sound Robbie gets blasted off into space.
"My dude!" Felix yells, uselessly reaching his hand out as if that would somehow bring Robbie back.
Hazel and Chloe begin arguing and Red ends up taking charge. It almost seems like things are looking up as they successfully take out several of the opposing sides pieces. But it's not long until Felix is getting flung from the board himself.
Felix lands on the same flower as Robbie. Not even a minute later Squirmy lands behind them. "Hey guys!"
"Not again!" Felix yells, pounding his fists on the flower petal. "Why is it always us?"
"Okay, bad news: we are still tiny." Robbie says, looking around at the landscape.
"Is there good news?" Squirmy asks.
"Not that I can think of." Robbie answered.
Felix pounds a fist against the flower petal again, and the flower retaliates by dumping the three of them into the grass.
Felix huffs and stands up begining to pace in circles. "We have been split up from the group for a second time not even ten minutes after finding them again. Maddox trapped us in a game of chess that shrunk us, so now we are stuck being the size of an ant, AND we have to babysit the tall Smee."
Squirmy frowns at Felix's last second and the fortune teller sighs and pinches the bridge of his nose.
"I'm sorry Squirmy. I didn't mean it like that. I'm just frustrated because Robbie and I have had the worst luck on this little adventure."
"And now you've joined the group with the worst luck ever." Robbie says, patting Squirmy's shoulder. "Welcome to the team."
"What do we do now?" Squirmy asks, still amazed at how big everything is.
"Try to find the others, and not get eaten by anything."
"That shouldn't be that hard." Squirmy says, shrugging his shoulders. "That way looks promising." Squirmy says, following the trail deeper into the forest.
"Smee no! No running off." Felix yells, chasing after him.
Robbie can't stop himself from laughing at the antics of the two VK's and runs after them not wanting to get left behind.
Eventually Felix catches up to Squirmy and stops the boy from running any further ahead.
"We shouldn't just run in one direction without a plan, that's how we get lost." Felix says.
"But, we were already lost when we fell onto the flower."
"Fine, then it's how we get even more lost!"
Robbie catches up to them and shakes his head at them. "Guys, this is Wonderland and we're what, maybe three inches tall? Wonderland is dangerous enough at our normal heights. We should try to be careful."
Robbie opened his satchel and grabbed out his bow and grabbed one of the arrows. "We don't know what's lurking in these woods."
"Where'd you get that?" Squirmy asked in awe, looking like he wanted to grab the bow for himself.
Robbie quickly side steps Squirmy and puffs out his chest. "I never go anywhere without it. I'm Robin Hood's son, I learned how to shoot before I learned how to talk."
"Cool!" Squirmy said, before bending over and picking up a pointy stick from the ground. "Now we all have weapons! Felix with his cards, Robbie with his bow, and Squirmy with his stick!"
Squirmy started twirling around his newfound stick like it was a baton, or numchuks. He threw the stick into the air, but he missed catching it and it bounced off his head instead.
Robbie watched the scene with confusion and leaned closer to Felix to whisper. "Does he always act like this?"
"Yeah, Squeaky does too. That's why they're terrors when together. Hazel is the only one who can really keep them in check."
"How does she do it?"
"With an unruly amount of patience." Felix says, before clapping his hands to get Squirmy's attention. "Hey Smee, let's keep moving to find your brother and Hazel."
Squirmy stops messing with the stick and salutes Felix. "Aye-aye!"
The three of them begin their trek further into the forest of Wonderland. They didn't encounter anything dangerous during the journey, but they did have to stop Squirmy from playing with the birds who looked like instruments.
When night fell the three of them made camp for the night under a large mushroom.
Squirmy easily fell asleep, using both Robbie's and Felix's legs as his own personal bed.
Felix was shuffling his deck of cards while Robbie was keeping watch, not wanting anything to sneak up on them.
"So…" Felix starts, dragging out the word. "What's the relationship between you and Madrigal? You seem close."
"He's my best friend." Robbie says automatically. Almost as if it was a line he had rehearsed and recited a million times before.
"Just your best friend? You guys seemed a lot closer than just best friends when we reunited with them."
Robbie's head turns so fast his neck makes a popping sound. His eyes are comically wide and his mouth is gaping open like a fish.
"It's not like that!"
"It isn't? Because I don't think friends nuzzle into each other's chests like that." Felix says, his tone teasing.
"We're not together, honest." Robbie says, desperately. Before he quietly adds: "he's not into me like that."
"But you're into him?" Felix questions, coming to that conclusion based on what Robbie hadn't said.
Robbie is quiet for a long moment before glancing sideways at Felix. "No…?"
Felix snorts and shakes his head. "You said that like it's a question. Your hesitation to answer me was enough of an answer on its own."
Robbie gulps and looks away from Felix his hand tightening around his bow, his other hand flexing into a first nervously.
Noticing the sudden tension Felix realizes that he made a mistake and attempts to correct it.
"Hey, listen. If you're into guys that's cool." Felix says. "When the guy is your best friend it can muddle things and make them complicated though."
Robbie looks back at Felix. The tension in his shoulders relaxing slightly, and a look of confusion dawned his face.
"It almost sounds like you're talking from experience." Robbie says, warily.
Felix sighs and nods his head. "That's 'cause I am. Don't let your romantic feelings get in the way of the bond you and Luis share. I learned that lesson the hard way."
"What do you mean?" Robbie asks curiously.
"I had feelings for someone who didn't like me back. He found out that I was gay and our friendship took a turn for the worst." Felix says, leaning his head back against the mushroom. "I never told him how I really felt about him."
"Oh, I'm sorry."
Felix shrugs and shakes his head. "Don't be. That friendship ending hurt really badly when it happened. But it brought me to Hazel, Max and the Smees. Losing one friend that dropped me at the drop of a hat, to gain four ride-or-dies who'll defend me to the ends of the earth was a good trade in my book."
"I guess that does sound like a good trade." Robbie says, quietly. "I can't imagine not being friends with Luis."
"Well does he know you're gay? Or how you feel about him?"
"Yes to the first question, and no to the second one."
Felix smiles at Robbie and gently punches his shoulder. "And he didn't drop you after finding out? He's better than the weasel I was crushing on."
Robbie shrugged his shoulders and groaned. "Yeah, he is. Sometimes I wish he'd just tell me he hated me, or did something to make me lose all interest in him."
"Then you could move on with your life like the feelings never existed." Felix said, knowingly.
"Exactly!"
The two fall into a comfortable silence after that. With neither of them feeling the need to break it. Or at least not until Robbie's curiosity got the better of him.
"When you called your former crush a weasel, you didn't mean Wally the Weasel did you?"
Felix smirks and nods his head. "That is exactly who I was referring to. But, I prefer calling him Wallace of Weasel Town."
Robbie shook his head and looked absolutely disgusted. "You had a crush on the Duke of Weselton's grandson. You were once friends with the Duke of Weselton's grandson?"
"In my defense he wasn't that bad when we were little. Especially not compared to other kids on the Isle. You'd take allies where you could, and he was mine. Then after the barrier came down we just stuck together until he showed his true colors."
Robbie shook his head again and shivered at the thought of the boy from Weselton. "He's a little creep."
Felix laughs at that and nods his head. "Yeah, I really dodged a bullet with that one."
Felix did one last shuffle of his cards before putting them in the pocket of his vest. "We should get some sleep. Who knows how long it'll take us to find them tomorrow."
Robbie groaned but nodded his head in agreement. "You're probably right. Well, good night Felix."
"Night Robbie."
The next morning Squirmy was the first of the trio to wake up. Not knowing that the two other boys had stayed up late talking Squirmy tried waking them up.
"Guys wake up! Let's go find Squeaky and Hazel now!" Squirmy said shaking both of their shoulders.
"Squirmy, it's too early. Let us sleep longer." Felix says, batting Squirmy's arm away from him.
Robbie yawned and stretched his whole body out with a groan. He looked at Squirmy through lidded eyes and groaned out an "I'm awake, I'm awake."
"See, Robbie woke up. Now you have to Felix."
Felix huffed at Squirmy but finally cracked his eyes open. "You early morning people are so annoying." Felix tells Squirmy before yawning at him.
The three boys eventually stand up and brush themselves off, doing their best to fix their disheveled appearances caused by sleeping on the ground.
"What's the game plan for today then? We know what direction we want to go in?" Felix asks.
"We came from that way yesterday. So, we continue heading down that way." Robbie says, pointing down the trail with his bow. "We'll keep going until we find another landmark to stop at."
The trio continue down the path not having any more run-ins with strange creatures like they had the day before. They're long trek eventually came out victorious as they came across a house with two people standing on the porch.
Two people that Squirmy recognized before Felix and Robbie had even spotted them.
"SQUEAKY AND HAZEL!" Squirmy yelled, as he took off running towards the house.
Felix and Robbie let out laughs of relief at the sight of familiar faces. The two began running after Squirmy towards their two friends, while Squirmy continued yelling out their names.
"I don't think they'll be able to hear us. Must I remind you, we are like five inches tall." Robbie said, trying to get Squirmy to stop yelling.
It took the three of them longer to get to the house than it should've due to their tiny stature, but they made it nonetheless. The trio collapsing onto the porch.
"Hey look!" Squeaky said, noticing them first.
Squeaky bent down and set his hand down palm up for the trio to climb onto it. Once they all did Squeaky stood back up to his full height and smiled at Hazel.
"They found us!"
"Yes, they did. You guys have missed so many things." Hazel said.
"We'd love to hear all about it, after we're normal sized again." Felix shouted up to them. "I'm tired of being the size of an ant!"
"How'd you get back to your normal heights?" Robbie asks.
"Oh it was so cool. We each took a piece of this cookie that Red offered us and boom we were normal sized again." Squeaky tells them.
"And you're in luck because Pink grabbed the rest of it to give to you guys when we found you." Hazel adds. "Bad news is that Pink chased Max, Biceps, and the other two princesses to… somewhere. We're not really sure where, we didn't try to follow them.
"Any idea when they'll get back?" Robbie asks, huffing out a breath.
"None whatsoever." Hazel answers with a shrug of her shoulders. "But come inside, we have cake."
Hazel and Squeaky bring the other three into the white rabbit's cottage. Squeaky sets them onto a table with what just looks like a large carrot in front of them.
"This is a carrot, not a cake." Felix says, rolling his eyes.
"Just take a bite out of it, you'll see." Hazel says, with a smirk.
Felix huffs but does as Hazel suggests anyway, and when he bites into the carrot he finds that it was indeed cake.
"I feel kinda funny." Felix says, his voice trailing off. When moments later Felix is growing back to his normal height and falling to the ground in front of the table. "I thought you said you reverted back to your normal height by eating a cookie."
"I did! This didn't have that sort of effect on me when I ate some." Hazel said, giving the cake a weird look.
Squirmy and Robbie were quick to copy Felix and eat some of the cake. Both of them reverting back to their normal heights once more. Squirmy and Squeaky immediately tackle each other in a hug. Having to spend a night away from their twin had been torture for both brothers.
"Don't you remember the story? When Alice grew so much she almost destroyed this very cottage, when she took a bite out of a carrot the white rabbit was holding she shrunk back to her normal height." Robbie says. "Maybe that's what this did, it just cancels everything out."
"That doesn't make a whole lot of sense. But this is Wonderland so I guess we'll go with it." Hazel says.
The reunion and joy at being back to their normal sizes is quickly interrupted by the world around them beginning to shake.
"Earthquake!" The Smee twins yell.
"Does Wonderland even get earthquakes?" Hazel asks, grabbing onto the couch for stability.
Felix and Robbie are leaning against the staircase, grabbing the railings to keep themselves from tumbling down.
"Guys, I'm back and I found Luis!" They hear Pink say. Her voice sounds louder than normal like she's speaking into a microphone.
Hazel is the first to go outside and her jaw drops at the sight of a giant Pink standing in front of the cottage.
"Pink? What happened?" Hazel asks.
The other four are quick to follow Hazel out, all of them looking just as shocked as Hazel. Except Squeaky who simply smiles up and waves at the princess. "Hi Pink!"
"Hop on!" Pink says, bending down to place her hand out for the quartet to climb on. "We need to go back and pick my sister, Max and Chloe back up and then we'll storm the castle and save the day."
Felix huffs out a breath and glances at Robbie. "This is the second time in one day we have to climb into the palm of someone's hand. Remind me to never become small, or have a run-in with giants again."
"Ditto." Robbie says.
Pink lifts them up and sets them on her shoulders, before making her way back towards the maze. When they picked up the trio that were in a cave in the maze, the pocket watch Maddox had been spending his whole life searching for had been quote-unquote dealt with and that was that.
Robbie was expecting to be some sort of long drawn out epic final battle where they finally defeated Maddox Hatter. But, the battle wasn't that long. You could barely call it a battle. Hazel used her Hook to cut some of the vines capturing Cinderella, and she threw her crown onto a lever to trap him inside the chandelier.
After everything was said and done the Queen of Hearts decided it was the perfect time to throw a tea party. Which Maddox who was still locked in the chandelier seemed very displeased about that.
The party itself had been nice. It wasn't something Robbie was particularly used to and he fluctuated between being at Luis' side and Felix's side.
Robbie couldn't help but notice how much closer Luis and Red seemed. He supposed the events of the past few days had a similar effect on their relationship as it did on his and Felix's
Speaking of Felix, Robbie couldn't find him at the moment. He must've slipped out when Robbie was talking with Pink. Robbie wanted to go find him, see how the youngest Facilier was doing.
Robbie didn't want to go walking around the castle aimlessly and get himself lost. So, he knew he should ask someone if they knew where Felix went. But who? That's when his eyes landed on Hazel who was talking with Chloe.
They also seemed much closer than Robbie ever thought the two of them could've become. Goes to show just how much this trip changed all of them.
Robbie hyped himself up and walked over to Hazel. "Hey Hazel, you wouldn't happen to know where Felix wandered off to, would you?" Robbie asked, nervously.
"Depends on who's asking." Hazel said, a teasing lilt to her voice.
Chloe nudged Hazel and shook her head at the pirate. "He said he needed some air. You should be able to find him in the halls. I don't think he would have wandered too far." Chloe answers.
"Okay, okay, Thanks." Robbie says, leaving the two.
Robbie walked down the white and red halls keeping an eye out for Felix. It didn't take the young archer very long to find him. Felix was standing on one of the balconies overlooking the castle grounds.
Robbie came up beside him and leaned on the balcony railing. "Hey, mind if I join you?"
"I don't mind." Felix said, his eyes glued to the landscape past the castle grounds.
The two fall into a comfortable silence again. Something that seems to fall over the boys quite a lot when they're together. Felix was staring out at Wonderland, and Robbie was staring at Felix.
"Our friends are closer with each other than they had been before we came here." Felix says, shaking his head. "The dynamics are changing, and I don't know how to feel about it."
"I know what you mean." Robbie says, quietly. "There's one change that I'm really happy about though."
Felix finally looks over at Robbie. "Which change is that?"
Robbie is quiet for a second. Almost like he was going to back out or change the subject. But he doesn't. Robbie gathers all his strength and courage and reaches his hand out to place it on top of Felix's.
"We're closer." Robbie whispers. Like saying it any louder would risk breaking the spark between them.
Felix turns his hand over under Robbie's to interlock their fingers together. "I'm really happy about that change too."
Felix gives Robbie a soft tentative smile. One that Robbie can't help but return. Both boys lean closer to each other, their foreheads resting against each other. Neither of them says anything else not feeling the need to.
Robbie is the one who initiates the kiss. Pressing his lips against Felix's so lightly, it barely felt like they were there. Felix doesn't hesitate to reciprocate. His lips pressing back against Robbie's.
They don't deepen the kiss. It stays soft and chaste, and only marginally less awkward than most people's first kiss.
When they pull away both boys are looking at each other shyly. Felix grabs Robbie's free hand so both of their hands are being held between them.
"I'm not some replacement for Luis am I?" Felix asks. The teasing smirk on his face telling Robbie he already knows the answer.
"Of course not Felix." Robbie says, shaking his head. "You're way better than him."
Felix's smile becomes more triumphant at that and he stands up straighter, rolling his shoulders back. "Yeah? Well for the record, I think you're way better than Madrigal too."
"So… are we like boyfriends now?" Robbie asks, biting his lip nervously.
"Yeah. Boyfriends."
