"Make that two, please," a voice interjected beside him—two fingers in his peripherals. The bartender nodded, walking off to grab the beers from the cooler.
Will turned his head, arms still planted on the bar—and he nearly stopped breathing.
It felt like one of those shitty rom-coms he'd watched came to life, and he was somehow starring in it. His eyes widened, lips slightly parted as he tried—and failed—to process and express how he felt.
All he managed to get out was a sputtered name.
"Wha—Mike?"
"What the fuck are you doing here?"

Will Byers and Mike wheeler have been on and off for the past two years. About two weeks ago they got into a rip roaring fight that pushed Will to the point of, as Jane likes to say, “dumping his ass”. Mike has been a hot mess to say the least, calling Dustin every night to cry about Will. The group is exhausted and just wants things to go back to normal, a light bulb flickers on in their minds on a warm may night when Mike informs Dustin over the phone that his cousin, Richie, will be staying in town for the summer. The perfect plan, they think, use this “Richie” kid as a buffer between Will and Mike. Surely adding a new person to the group for a few months will help mend this awkward mess, right? Surely nothing else could possibly transpire that makes Mike and even bigger downer to be around, right?
