She woke up after them. She woke up. She. Wow, there's a lot of things in that sentence we have to address.
Pomni pokes her head through the blankets with sandwiches in her hand. And immidietly dropped them in favor of throwing her arms around Jax and trying to figure out if she's dreaming.
Jax leans into the hug. Lets Pomni know she's here. She's real. Pomni looks up and strokes her new found long hair.
"This is new?" Pomni smiles softly. Jax sniffles.
"Yeah. Sure is."
"do you.. Like it?" Jax smiles softly.
"Yeah. Yeah, I really do."
Jax and Pomni sit in the dark for a while. Feeling the existence of each other. The "life." Pomni finally looks up at Jax.
"Hey, Ribbit is back by the way. Just thought you should know. I like her. I know you do too."
Jax smiles at that. And then realizes. Realizes how ribbit abstracted. How she acted towards her, everything she did wrong all those years ago.
"She wouldn't forgive me. Not after..." Pomni cuts her off.
"she will. I promise you." Jax gives Pomni a hesitant smile before shakily standing up. She notices her overalls have turned into a skirt. Hm. Cute? Maybe? She doesn't know how she even feels about all this yet. I mean she just woke up from abstraction for gods sake.
before she can even leave the tent, she finds herself in the group with everyone else in a large room with blankets, pillows and snacks strewn out on the floor and a projector in the corner.
Caine doesn't even bother to show up to explain, he figures the group can figure out what to do on their own.
Zooble starts sifting through the DVDs near the projector. They smirk, and throw a DVD in Jax's direction.
Jax looks down at the dvd.
"I saw the tv glow."
She throws it back at Zooble.
"Heyyyyyyy!!!!!!!" Zooble smiles and says in a less teasing tone,
"I always knew there was something up with you...."
Jax can't help but feel guilty about the forgiveness. She was the worst. And people are still here for her. They still care. Even gangle smiles at her now. It feels better than before, but she still knows she doesn't deserve this forgiveness.
Jax approaches Ribbit, still nervous that Ribbit would hate her now.
Instead, she's greeted with a hug.
"I missed you, dummy."
And suddenly Jax is crying. And suddenly everyone is around her. She didn't do anything to earn this comfort. But she still gets it.
Everyone is settled in. Gangle and Zooble are watching some anime. Ragatha, pomni, and kinger are very focused on their scrabble game. And Jax and Ribbit are sitting in the corner. Catching up?
" you're so pretty. You look happier like this." Ribbit reaches up to scratch Jax's ears
"Yeah. Yeah, I am happier like this."
