“I bought you flowers”

Summary:

Ilya loves going to Farmer’s Market and brings something back for his husband.

Work Text:

Ilya never thought this would be his life, going to the farmer’s market on at Saturday morning with his mother-in-law while his husband was at their cottage with his father-in-law making breakfast for the four of them. Ilya loved summer’s at the cottage and going into the local town Saturday mornings for the farmer’s market. Sometimes he went by himself, sometimes with Shane but usually it was him and Yuna that went. They wandering through, stopping at various stalls to buy produce, eggs, honey, bread and jams. They were almost to the end when Ilya saw a stand selling bundles of flowers. Ilya stopped, determined to pick out the perfect one for Shane. Yuna watched him with a small smile on her face, she never thought that she’s be here but she couldn’t ask for a better husband for her son. Ilya protected the flowers the whole way back to their cottage, holding them carefully on his lap so they didn’t get crushed, they were wrapped carefully in brown paper with a yellow ribbon tied into a bow keeping everything together. Ilya barely let the car stop before getting out, only feeling slightly bad about leaving Yuma to get the bags but he needed to show Shane the flowers. Ilya hid them behind his back as he turned the corner where David and Shane were cooking.

“What are you hiding?” Shane said, not fully trusting his husband. Last time he went to the farmer’s market with Ilya, Ilya tried convincing him they needed baby chickens.

“Do you not trust me?” Ilya faked hurt, free hand pressing against his chest in mock hurt.

“If you’re bringing something alive into this cottage then I don’t.”

“How rude, I would never.”

“Last weekend you tried smuggling chicks home thinking I couldn’t hear them.”

“I bought you flowers.” Ilya pulled the flowers out from behind his back, stepping towards Shane.

“Ilya.” Shane said, stepping towards Ilya and taking the flowers.

“See I can be nice sometimes.”

“Now I feel bad about accusing you of doing something bad.”

“You should. I buy you flowers, pick out perfect ones and bring them to bring home to wonderful husband and he thinks I’m being sneaking. How hurtful.” Ilya pretended to wipe tears away.

“Come here drama queen.” Shane grabbed Ilya’s wrist pulling him in for a kiss.

“I deserve more than one kiss for all my misery. My husband broke my heart and it needs fixing.”

Shane laughed, pressing another kiss against Ilya’s lips. Shane found a vase to put them in, setting them right in the middle of the island. Shane kept looking at them, thinking about Ilya picking out flowers for him with his mom there, while he was him cooking with his dad. He loved his little family.
