The realization had hit Cheng Xiaoshi like a freight train.
He loved Lu Guang. Not as a friend. He was in love with him.
It was plain
as day now. Every stray glance that Lu Guang shot his way on a whim
bringing that fuzzy feeling
to his stomach. Cheng Xiaoshi pulled his hand away from Lu Guang’s at the last possible moment, despite the pain
it brought him to do so. He was being too clingy. Lu Guang was going to leave him. Like everyone else did. Cheng Xiaoshi’s thoughts kept reeling,
until Lu Guang’s voice cut through them like a hot knife. “Xiaoshi, what’s wrong?” he asked simply, unaware that he was Cheng Xiaoshi’s sun after the rain.
“Nothing, I’m fine,” Cheng Xiaoshi tried to lie,
but he could tell that Lu Guang didn’t believe a word he said.
Still, Lu Guang didn’t press the matter, choosing to let Cheng Xiaoshi tell him why
he was avoiding him. He would, eventually, even if the waiting filled Lu Guang with dread.
They were partners, in the end.
Nothing could get between them.
