Chapter Text
One was back, and she had double the power than she previously had. She was very clearly unstable, and wasn’t able to control the power she currently wielded.
“FINE! If you aren’t gonna listen, I’LL MAKE YOU LISTEN!”
Golfball grabbed as many people as she could, dragging them into her laboratory. She slammed the door shut, closing the blinds on the window, and essentially SCRAMBLING around. Her behavior was very sporadic and haphazard. Nobody has ever seen her panicking to this extent.
“Thank you for preventing our death!” chimed Remote cheerfully, not really aware of the possible severity of the situation.
“Where are we?! Get me out of here!” Fanny complained loudly.
“Hush!” Golfball turned back to see who all was there. Her vision was blurry, she couldn't focus at all. Her eyes landed on Coiny and she snatched him out from the group as they all talked.
“I don’t know what to do, what if-” Golfball started–
BOOM! The entire hotel shook. There was a gigantic white explosion, sending everyone to the floor. There was an almost deafening high-pitched ringing. Coiny brought her to his chest, holding onto her so tight that she was confident there were going to be bruises.
“WHAT IS HAP-EN-ING?
“BLEH!”
“THIS IS NOT GREIGHT!”
“I WANT REVENGE!”
“OH GOOD GOOGLY MOOGLY!”
“AHHHHHHHH!!!”
It was like an Earthquake. After the trembling of the room stopped, she immediately broke herself from Coiny’s grip and ran to the window, opening the blinds. It was… normal again. The skies were a stark beautiful blue, the grass a soft light green. The rift was bigger, and Black Hole was nowhere to be seen. GB looked down at herself, she had another set of arms… Wings? Antenna, similar to a bee. GB swiftly turned her heel, her legs trembling. She was looking at the fellow contestants on the floor. What had happened?
“Is everyone okay?!”
Golfball shouted, her voice hoarse. running towards the group. They all seemed to be mutated in some way… But only with their physical appearances. GB shook the Tennis Ball’s shoulder.
“TB! TB! Tennis Ball!”
Tennis Ball groaned and sat up, rubbing his head. He adjusted his broken rectangular glasses. He had been mutated to look like a bear… Not shocking.
“...GB! What happened?! Why do you look like that?”
“Tennis Ball! This is NOT the time for that!”
GB ran over to the others, noticing a pattern. They all seemed to be… animals. Or at least have animal-like aspects. She gently checked their pulses, trying to get a hold on her new limbs.
“What happened? I feel like I just got ran over…”
Pie muttered, noticing Golfball’s distress.
“Shouldn’t you take a break?”
“N-no! I have to make sure everyone’s okay!”
Her head snapped up at Snowball trying to open the door. She flew over, nearly collapsing onto him. She pushed the taller man away.
“What gives, weakling?!”
“Nobody is leaving until I declare that it’s safe!”
“I hate being in a confined room!” Fanny mewled, her ears pinned back resembling airplanes. Her tail was poofed out.
Lightning noticed the tension, and how nobody was really listening to each other. He needed to do… Something! He flew up and shouted, resembling an eagle screech.
“HEY, EVERYONE! I know you’re all scared, I am too! But the last thing we need to do is panic! We have to prevent death as much as we can!”
Their striking yellow hair was a stark bright white now. His wings were flapping frantically. Golfball was shaking pretty bad. Ice Cube was trembling next to Pin. Naily was holding Rocky, who seemed to be… Scared. Fanny, Pie, Lightning and Remote to the initiative to treat anyone’s injuries. Golfball was trying not to panic. Was this her fault? She shut her eyes tight. Teardrop walked over and tapped her on the shoulder. She looked worried.
“Oh… Hello, Teardrop.”
TD held up a thumbs up and tilted her head. She seemed to resemble a gecko.
“I am.. A bit frazzled… I don’t.. Know how this could have happened.”
TD nodded in agreement. She opened her arms for a hug, smiling softly. GB hugged her, knowing there’d be no point in declining. She sighed. Snowball was going around asking who the… well, the strongest was. GB didn’t know what his intentions were. TD let go and patted her head, walking away. Eraser was by the door and the door handle began to jiggle. His tail puffed up and he immediately tried to hold it closed.
“Hey, let me in!”
Eraser fumbled with the lock and kept his entire body weight on the door. His ears were drooped, recognizing the voice as Basketball. This WAS her factory... No. He wouldn't. He didn't trust it.
“What are you do-ing? Shouldn’t we let them i-n?” questioned Pin. She didn't see why anybody should be left outside.
“We don’t know what they turned into.” Tennis Ball chimed in. His bear ears were pinned back. "She may be injured yes, but she may not even BE Basketball."
“And we’re any better than that?” Eggy squinted at TB. She didn't seem to trust the bear.
“Guuuysss… Stop fighting!!” Saw whined, not liking the tension in the room. It was almost suffocating.
Golfball clenched her fists, her bee wings fluttering. Her eyebrows furrowed as she let out a heavy sigh.
“If we can’t get along, then the challenge for today will be to go search the rest of the Hotel for any survivors of… Whatever phenomenon just occured.”
Golfball took out her mini-notepad with all the current teams on it.
“Each team currently has at least three or more members on it. Me and Tennis Ball will be staying back just in case anything happens and we need to abort the game.”
“Wait, what? Awww okayy…”
As everyone got into their respected teams, Coiny walked over to Golfball. Her heart rate increased by just a hair.
“Um.. Hey.. You doin’ alright, GB?”
“I am doing as well as I can be, I suppose.”
Coiny’s hand outstretched to put a hand on her cheek. He gave her a soft peck on the cheek. She blushed, her antenna shooting upright from their previous drooped position.
“You’re still so easy to fluster.”
“Be quiet. I think the mutation has messed up your brain.”
“Yeah, I must be crazy to love you.”
Golfball let out a laugh, nudging him away towards his team.
“Has everyone gathered?”
An overlap of “yeahs” and other words of affirmation filled the room. Golfball grunted in acknowledgement.
“Alright. Now, go on!”
Golfball watched as they unlocked the factory door and she let out a heavy, tired sigh. She sat down in her chair, putting her head on the table.
“Are you sure it’s okay to let them go out there?”
“Their chances of survival are a %55.55 percent. I deduce that they will work together, despite it being a competition. Everybody was shaken up and I doubt any of us want any more deaths on our hands.”
“You know you can rest, right Golfie? You’ve been working yourself to the bone.”
“...I’ll be fine, TB. I promise.”
Golfball gave her best friend a tired smile, which he had reciprocated back to her. TB began writing down his own research about mutations and yoylelite. She had slowly drowned him out as she unintentionally fell asleep.
