Buck knew in the abstract that Chris knew he was part Latino. However, it hadn’t really made it to the front of his mind until the recent spat of research spirals Chris had the two of them get into involving Central American History. Plus, talks he overheard him get into with his Abuela about her side of the family and where they came from.
Buck knew he came from Anglo-Saxon and Germanic stock and was fine with that, but maybe it was time to help his pseudo son a bit more than he had been. Summer break was coming up after all, and he had been putting in a lot of overtime as others kept calling him to work their shifts for them as they all knew he would. Maybe now it was time to call all those shift times in.
He, first, sees if it was feasible, it was as HR was getting panicky over his PTO. So, he took the whole of July through the first two weeks of August off through HR and not through his leadership who would turn him down flat.
Emailed the dates to be clear to both Chris and Eddie, then texted Abuela to make sure Chris’ passport was ready for him to travel real soon. Hey, did she want to go with them to visit Mexico and the areas around it for a fun trip. Thumbs up. So, he planned that as well.
He made arrangements for the train trip through Peru for fun for the three of them, the visit with his old boss at an Aztec archeological dig and transportation to there. Chris was going to have a ball as one of things he had been looking at to get into when he went to college was field archeology as the field was one that was opening to those with handicaps, as long as they could still do the work, they could be accommodated. At least in some places.
He checked on the day Chris got out of school for the summer break and circled that for the start of his learning what he needed to know in online classes as he looked up those Chris could take.
All-in-all the three of them were going to learn a lot and have fun doing it. This summer will be a time to make memories now.
He immersed himself in cameras to see what would be the best, and yes, Buck was a happy Eddie and soon Chris would join him in the happy mood.
