“Wait- wait wait wait wait stop- hold on!” I started babbling; the guard tried to pull me away as I tried to fight back.
The guard looked to Stratt, who stood up and walked over to me. I was taller than her, but in this moment she towered above me with a condescending expression.
“T-take me! Take me instead. Don’t do this to him! Let Ryland go!” I was pleading and sobbing.
I don’t know why I said that; if I was thinking logically, I could have figured something else out. Nothing about Ryland made me think logically. But now that I have said it, I stand by it. I needed to find him, I needed to stop this, I needed to see him, I needed to save him.
Stratt raised an eyebrow at me, then walked back to her desk. She didn’t care. At all.

After the catastrophe of the Denmark conference, someone at Grover Cleveland Middle School helps Grace come into his own as a teacher, showing him the ropes.
