Chapter Text
Entry 1 of investigations:
I've always been fascinated by rumors of the paranormal, in fiction or in real life. I love found footage media and horror in general, in fact, I hope this journal gets found in the future like some paper in a horror game with lore that you find while exploring. My hometown of Fall Creek has many rumors of the paranormal, the main ones being of a cabin far out in the forest surrounding the town that once supposedly held occult rituals, an old mansion out in the outskirts of town that everyone says is haunted and the family that owned it all dissappeared in 1902, and an abandoned house from the 1970s no one has lived in or even gone near for 50 years after the owners died mysteriously in the house.
My parents say I need to get a job now that I'm 18, I should at least partially start paying for my hrt anyways. I'm gonna run out of stuff to investigate in the area after enough time as I keep investigating. I'm thinking I want to try finding out about that cabin first, I can borrow my friend's Polaroid and buy a flashlight once I have some money.
Entry 2 of Investigations:
My best friend got me a job with her at a cafe near the center of town, it pays decent, even if I need to bike there for the trip to take less tan 20 minutes. What's important is that I have a flashlight now.
I've researched more about the cabin, it was built by a settler who was around when Fall Creek was established in 1886. The settler, a man named Edgar Cane, was a reclusive man, though he was notably close with the Lillard family who owned the now abandoned mansion until the last known members of the family dissappeared in 1902. There is still a trail leading to it supposedly, though It is probably very faded as it hasn't been used since Edgar himself dissappeared in 1902 at the same time as the Lillard Family. I'll try to find the trail this weekend, I need to make sure I have good shoes for walking in the forest like that, and bug spray.
Entry 3 of Investigations:
I found the trail, as I suspected it was heavily faded, I almost couldn't find it. I'm shocked it hasn't completely faded or overgrown after 120 years of no one using it. The cabin was up the trail, it took about 20 minutes of walking to reach it, it definitely looked like its been abandoned since 1902, Edgar Cane had no kids or even a wife as far as my research told me, so no one lived in it after he dissappeared. It was definitely a smart move to bring my flashlight because even with natural light going through the windows, there weren't that many windows. It also appeared that in the living room there was some sort of ritual circle with candles, what I think was long dried blood, and a long decayed skull. Near the circle was a thick, leather bound book that had a dark, almost maroon color. The rest of the cabin was empty and dark with few windows, I though I heard footsteps elsewhere in the cabin at several points, though it must have just been me hearing things, because I know I was alone in there.
It was evening when I got back home, I took the book I found at the cabin back with me, inside it appeared to be rituals, incantations, and other forms of what might be called, "black magic". I might use it at some point if I feel like estrogen is too slow, but currently I don't think I have a use for it, I'll keep it in case I do though.
There did seem to be unusually close animal footsteps the whole way home, though I guess if I found a book of occult magic, a ghost or spirit found in the cabin where actual occult rituals happened wouldn't be that much of a leap in logic. I guess I have a paranormal entity following me now :3
