May 21, 2056
Dear my beloved bride,
This is a dream right? You’re not actually gone, right? I’ll wake up and find you asleep in my arms, right?
I spent the night in the hospital. They were going to take you away. I had to beg them to let me stay with you a little longer.
The nurses advised me to sleep. Talia said I should go home, even Thomas felt bad for me, but how can I go home if you’re not there to welcome me? Can I even call it home anymore?
This world is so cruel.
It took you away from me and left behind a tiny bundle with your nose and your heartbeat.
I can’t even hold her.
It felt wrong.
You should have been the first person to hold her. You should have been the first person to call her name. You should have been the first face she ever saw.
But instead, she would open her eyes to a world where you no longer exist.
They handed me papers. I didn’t know what to write, I didn’t know which papers to sign first. I almost forgot how to spell her name. Can you believe this? Our daughter’s name.
I’m scared.
If I could forget our child’s name so easily, does that mean I’d forget your face someday? What if I forget your favorite color, or your laugh, or which Lemurian tune was your favorite? What if I forget your voice? What if I forget the color of your eyes? Would you forgive me?
What if she asks about you? What do I say first? Do I tell her how beautiful you were, or the quirks she got from you?
I miss you so much.
I wish I had said this sooner,
