Summary
In the spring of 1939, King Lambert of Faerghus dies in a supposed accident. Soon afterward, Rodrigue and Glenn Fraldarius are assassinated, allowing Rufus to seize power and reduce the kingdom to a pro-Imperial duchy under the shadow of the Adrestian Empire.
Dimitri, the sole heir to the throne, appears to submit. Beneath the watch of the Empire and its collaborators, however, he quietly begins to build a resistance. Sylvain remains at his side, sharing the burden of every secret and risk, while Felix, convinced that Dimitri has surrendered without a fight, leaves Faerghus in anger.
As war engulfs Fódlan, Dimitri must become the faint light that may yet guide Faerghus home.
