Chapter Text
Olesya Ilyukhina hadn’t expected her day to be any different as it was right now. She had gotten up, went to work, got lunch with Rocky, and her only add-on was going to the grocery store to pick up ingredients for dinner that night. The soup wouldn’t be the same as her Babushka’s, but she’ll try damn sure to make it pretty close. As she was daydreaming however, she heard something as she got closer to her apartment door, and once she turned the corner, she found the source.
Her neighbor, she couldn’t remember their name, leaned against their door, gut-wrenching wails coming from deep inside their throat. Their face was red and blotchy from crying, clearly having been for a while before she got back, and they wore a simple light purple sundress, something that framed them quite nicely, she might add. But nevermind their fashion choices, she had to help this poor person before they passed out from lack of oxygen.
Olesya stopped inside her apartment, quickly putting her grocery bags on the counter before going to the stranger, who was still sobbing. “That dress looks nice on you, makes your body look quite lovely,” she said, putting a hand on their back as they continued to cry harder. “Did I say something wrong?” She asked, immediately cursing herself for unknowingly insulting them. “No- no you- I just-” They stuttered, letting out another sob, coughing from snot in their nose and nearly working themselves into a panic attack. “Hey, hey,” Olesya whispered much quieter this time as they sank to the floor, curling into themselves even further. “You are going to pass out if you keep crying like this. How about we go to my place and I make tea, yes?” She asked, a nod coming from the stranger, which she took as a win.
She helped them up, guiding them into her apartment and onto her couch as she wrapped them in a blanket she had gotten for Christmas from another friend. They buried themselves in its thick material, tears still running down their cheeks, but at a slower rate than when Olesya had found them. “You stay here, I make tea, then we talk, yeah?” she said, giving their shoulder a squeeze as she got up and put water in her electric kettle. As she waited for the kettle to heat up, she pulled out her phone and texted Adrian, as she always did these sorts of days.

The kettle whistled as she was typing, making her look up from her phone as she got the teabags and mugs ready. After the tea was ready, she put a cup down in front of the stranger that she now knew as Grace, who gave her a small smile in return as they picked up the mug, wordlessly drinking their tea together as Ilyukhina sighed to herself. Comfort tea first, talk later.
