   Shane was about to pick up his phone to text Rose about Saturday’s plans when the doorbell rang. He froze for a bit and double-checked his notifications to see if he missed any calls. Who was at the door?

   He walked towards the entrance convincing himself he could be nice and smiley and appreciate the company of whoever was at the door.

   That resolve was fleeting, for when he open the door he could barely process the fact that he was staring into Cliff Marlow’s perplexed face.
