I let him stay pressed against me, feeling the warmth of his skin radiating toward me and his lips on my own. I gently moved my free hand up to his face, pushing back a stray strand of hair and letting my hand rest against his cold cheek, making him flinch and pull back.
We were both breathing heavily, exchanging air between us. I just looked into his eyes, those brown eyes that always looked so empty and heavy, now ignited with a flame of heat.
He blinked, took a slow and shaky breath and looked away, then it was like I wasn’t even there at all.He pulled back, took his bag, then his pen and closed the door with a slight slam, leaving behind only the phantom of himself and his notebook in my room without hesitation. I stared at my door for a few moments longer, heart throbbing with pain and hope that he might come back, but he didn’t. The door kept shut and my heart continued to scream.
