Summary
Tony Stark never cared for many people. At first, there were only three: Pepper Potts, James Rhodes, and Harold Hogan. Then Tony met Spider-Man.
Eventually, "Spider-Man" turned into "Underoos" and "the kid." Tony will wonder for many years when it turned into "Roo," "Bambino," and "my kid."
When the team shows up asking for the impossible and he refuses—what happens when Tony realizes the impossible could bring Peter Parker back?
He remembers drinks, drugs, and a man who would rather party than care. He remembers: "Iron Man Approved. Tony Stark not recommended." He remembers being reduced to nothing without his suit.
He remembers a small apartment with a beautiful, selfless woman and a boy half his age worth $100$ Iron Mans put together. He remembers: "You have been my hero since I was 5, Iron Man hasn't even been around that long." He remembers the boy that both healed him and made him a father.
Tony Stark decides that impossible or not, Thanos should have never touched his first child. Many men would have taken revenge far sooner, but as Tony stares at the completed time machine blueprint, he decides that taking revenge is futile when he can alter time itself in the name of his son.
