   James went still in his arms, not even breathing, it seemed, for long moments. He almost wished he could’ve seen his face, since it likely would’ve made for quite a sight. For a while, the only sounds were the lashing rain, the howling wind, the rumbling of thunder, and the crackling of the fireplace.
   “I don’t think anyone’s ever called me that before and meant it.” James replied at last, sounding utterly bewildered.
   “Aye, well, nobody else knows you like I do, do they?” He countered, attempting to ease the sting of his earlier declaration with a soft kiss pressed to the hinge of the man’s jaw.
