Chapter Text
The soil felt cold and wet on his back; that was the first thing Lookout realised when he woke up in the middle of a dark forest biome. The sun shone between the leaves above him, hurting his tired eyes and making his brain foggy.
"What the-" He tried to stand up, but everything was spinning around; he must have taken a good hit. "Yo, Slippery? Where are you, man?" It seemed like his friend hadn't been teleported with him.
He looked around in confusion; he was in a completely different environment than he had been just seconds ago, running away from some dumb entity. Was this part of the mod they had been playing? After a few tries, he managed to get on his feet by leaning on a tree. His whole body hurt, and he would soon notice some scratches on his arms and leaves all over his hair. Had he fallen from the sky?
He grabbed his hat from the ground and put it over his head, still questioning how he had been moved there. It looked nothing like the world he was in before; he would come to realise. The whole situation was odd, and Slippery was still nowhere to be found.
Lookout clunched his stomach and tried to ignore the pain on his back as he walked through the grass and gigantic trees.
"MAN, this SUCKS MAN, Im all alone walking through these creepy ahh woods- Im NEVER playing this mod again, man!"
After what felt like ages, the forest seemed to start getting less verdant. Suddenly, in the distance, between some bushes, seemed to lie a dark figure; Lookout cleaned his eyes to make sure he wasnt trippin.
"YOOO!! Who is that baddie!!"
He ran towards the person. Was it possible? Could it be another player? LETS GOOO. He got nearer to be met by a very familiar face. Wait. There was NO way that was Thatmob. He had been missing for MONTHS; the last thing he posted was part two of his Verity series evreyone had assumed the mod had gotten to him. Had he been there this entire time?
He leaned down to inspect the unconscious man better; he seemed to be in the same state he had found himself in after waking up. His face twitched uncomfortably, as if he was having a bad dream. ...Well, it certainly LOOKED like him, His mask, his enderman features... but it couldn't be, could it?
"Ou shii...." He pressed a finger against his cheek, poking it gently. After toying with his face for a while, the man slowly started to open his eyes.
"Huh... LookOut...?" He asked, barely lucid.
He looked into his eyes and recognized him instantly. It WAS Thatmob!
"YOOOO, hey mob!"
He rubbed his head, slowly sitting down and looking at his surroundings.
"Where am I?"
"I don't know, man! I was playing with my boy, Slippery, and now im here!" He responded. "How are you here? I thought you were dead, man!"
"Well, I thought I was dead too... wait." He grabbed him by his shirt with strength and shook him. "YOU CAN SEE ME?!"
"Of course I can see you, dude." Lookout responded
"HOW?" ThatMob just kept shaking him.
"Am I not supposed to see you?"
"Well..." He seemed to calm down a bit. "When I died, my soul kinda got trapped in the game as a ghost. Only other dead people are supposed to see me."
"Like In Five Nights at Freddy's?"
"I mean, I guess..."
Awsome.
"I love that game, man- WAIT, DOES THAT MEAN IM DEAD!??
"Maybe."
He walked around in distress, the enderman still trying to regain his posture and process the situation.
"OH MAN, THIS SUCKS, MAN!! HOW AM I GOING TO KISS HOT FEMBOYS NOW?!"
"Is that what you are worried about- whatever, we should probably find out why we were sent here..."
"Good idea! LETS GOO."
A few hours later, chunks away, the two Verities sat in the middle of a rainforest. They didint need protection, obviously. What kind of mob would even dare come near them? They had found nothing interesting so far, which sucked, but at least they were safe. Morning was near; when it arrived, they would keep moving.
The original carefully observed his freaky version. He looked so... strange. There was something clearly off about him. Like he wasnt how he was supposed to be.
"You miss him." He said.
That took the other one off guard.
"Huh?" The freaky one asked, out of his thoughtful trance
"You are thinking about him. I can see it in your face."
Freaky Verity scoffed.
"Good deduction, genius. Im ALWAYS thinking about him."
"Hm... what's between you and him?" He asked.
The other Verity frowned at the question.
"What do you mean?"
"Are you dating?"
WOAH!
"That's- we are- well, not really. YOU CANT JUST ASK THAT!"
The other one laughed.
"Sounds like you are in a situationship!"
Freaky Verity was seconds away from punching him in the face.
"WHAT?!"
"A situationship refers to a romantic relationship between two people who do not yet consider themselves a couple but who have more than-"
"YEAH, YEAH I know what a situationship means, WIKIPEDIA. Its just- I haven't seen him in months! At least not awake..."
"What do you mean by at least not awake?" He giggled. He found that almost endearing. "You dream about him?"
"No, it means I watch him sleep."
"Oh!"
"..."
"You need help!"
"I know."
The original sighed.
"But... it's fine, I get it."
"Huh?"
The sun was starting to come out on the horizon.
"My owner... well, I mean, my previous owner..." It felt like it had been years since he last spoke of him. "The only person I ever met that treated me like I was something. He was so perfect... I couldn't stand the thought of someone taking him away from me. I wanted him to be with me every second of his life. To only need me."
Freaky verity crawled closer.
"Sounds like you've got a crush!" He teased
"What?!" He tried not to lose his facade. "No- we are AI models; we cant feel those things like humans do. Especially not crushes." He laughed nervously.
The other one hummed, leaning into a tree.
"I can." He stated.
"Maybe that's what's wrong with you."
Oh Wow!
Seemed like that guy had some deep-rooted issues. They didint have time to unpack all that. The other Verity was left speechless.
"Sorry..." The original continued. "It's not like it matters anyway. He killed himself just to get rid of me."
Ou shii. What was he even supposed to respond to that trauma dump?
"Well, that must suck!"
Idiot.
"It really does."
...
"Welp, it's almost morning. We should keep going." He said, trying to change the topic.
"Good idea."
They both stood up, the moon almost gone. It was tiring; they hadn't slept at all. It wasnt like they needed it anyway. It was all an illusion.
They kept walking for a few hours, not saying a word, just thinking about where the hell their owners could be.
Eventually they reached a forest, but something was very wrong. The trees had been completely destroyed, and the grass seemed to have been removed, revealing wet dirt underneath. The ground seemed to be marked by huge deep footprints.
"Hey, look at this." Said Freaky Verity.
"These are just enormous. There isn't any mob in vanilla Minecraft that could have left these." He pointed out. He kept inspecting them. "It looks like... someone of our species."
"You think so? That means there is more of us here! He can help us! We should follow them."
"I'm not sure that's a good idea. Some other models- they aren't as reasonable as you and I." He looked around, inspecting the data of the world around them. There seemed to be a strange tower nearby. "There is a player-made construction a few chunks away; why don't we go there instead?" He suggested.
"You are just saying that to contradict me."
"Friend..." He said threateningly.
Freaky Verity gulped.
"Fine. Lets go to the tower."
"Great! Follow me."
Weirdo.
They headed to the tower like the original ordered. Lookouts Verity wished they could use their monster forms to go faster, but that would probably only scare players off. After like a million years, they reached the damn place.
"Seems pretty empty to me."
"We don't know that yet."
They walked up the stairs and opened the door. It was unlocked. The place was nicely decorated with pink candles and a whole lot of
Before they could go to the second floor, a woman and a pink helper like them came down the stairs.
They seemed to have heard them enter. The woman got a sword out.
"Oh, we have visitors!" Said the helper, warmly.
The pink one was in her ball form, and she had a big smile on her face. She seemed friendly.
"How did you find us?" Asked the woman.
The two didint know what to respond.
"There are more players?" Someone asked from upstairs.
It kind of sounded like... no...
Two people went down the wooden stairs and stood behind the girls.
No, no, he saw him shoot himself. The bullet went right through his forehead. He did it in front of him- how could he? How could he be there?
"Mob...?"
"Verity."
