"What the hell is wrong with you?" Eddie hissed as soon as Chimney walked away.
"I'm trying not to be overly friendly and familiar," Buck said petulantly. "You know Bobby said we could only work together if we could maintain. I'm trying to prove that I can."
"Well congratulations — you've gone the opposite direction into being a brat," Eddie scolded him.
Buck held firm for a moment, then cracked a small smile. "You like when I'm a brat."
"Not when I'm at work and can't punish you properly," Eddie chided him.
Buck licked his lips, and Eddie knew that whatever he was about to say was going to be his undoing. "Shhh," he clasped a hand over Buck's mouth, expecting the tongue that emerged to swipe at it. "You need to get yourself together, Buck. You can't keep treating me like I'm your enemy. Just be you."
He cautiously removed his hand and allowed Buck to speak. "Well me wants to climb you like a tree in that uniform," Buck complained softly. "And we agreed that we couldn't do that at work until we proved to Bobby that we could work together."
"Be normal for you," Eddie said patiently. "Friendly. Goofy. Telling me random facts. Be Buck, not a brat."
Buck sighed, but nodded. "Right, I can do that."
"I know you can," Eddie gave him a fond smile. "Now come on and spot me."
