Summary
John Sheppard is a mutant, able to control fire and teleport. He’s spent most of his life collared, a prisoner. His father sold him to a government lab as a kid, but all John ever wanted to do was to fly. Rodney McKay is also a mutant, never outed, but able to control water. When John sat down in the Antarctic control chair, the chair lit up brighter than anyone had ever seen it, and he was able to project the image of the solar system Rodney had asked for. Now, Rodney must fight both Sumner and Elizabeth to bring John to Atlantis, and keep him uncollared.

Summary
John Sheppard is the estranged heir to the Alton clan. He left Armida and joined the Air Force in defiance of his father, to escape from his family and the stifling weight of tradition and obligation. Rodney McKay joined the SGC after they offered research opportunities and funding he could never have matched in the civilian sector. On Atlantis, John finds a cause and a battle worthy of all that he is and all he holds dear. Together with Rodney McKay and the rest of the Atlantis Expedition, he intends to make righteous war on those who would conquer Earth and destroy humanity.

Summary
My challenge response is about, who are John Sheppard and Rodney McKay, born not here, but into the Terran Federation and the Darkovan Comyn respectively? For reference this takes place maybe 20 years after the Forbidden Tower incidents. And yes, I am cheerfully butchering quite a bit of Darkover canon. Fair go, but MZB did it first, nies?
