Summary
Hope never brought any good: hope did not erase the debt on one’s head, nor stuffed his pockets with money so that he wouldn’t have to worry about tomorrow; hope did not make the world less ugly or safer or better. He was much too old for this, to fall into such childish traps and dare to believe that there was a light at the end of the dark tunnel called misery, a crack in the plasma-veil of tar draped over his eyes. Hadn’t he lost so much already because of this stupid faith he had put not once, not twice, but far too many times to consider his choices a simple mistake? Hadn’t he tasted mud and blood and had to claw out from under the earth, broken nails and coughing dirt, after every single rope he held on to broke?
Hope only led to disappointment, pain and, sooner or later, regret.
Leia dies following a fatal wound suffered while escaping from the Death Star. Han is left to deal with the aftermath of her death, haunted by a woman he didn't even know yet is forced to mourn.
