Work Text:
The sun has been blazing ever since it rose this morning, but that doesn’t stop the productivity at the Piano residence. The back yard is swarming with people, guards and other staff working together to build a new path through the garden. Lord Piano had a wish to replace the old one, and so the last week has consisted of removing the former and placing down new bricks and tiles.
Adette stands on the raised patio, her hands rest on the railing. She’d been enjoying a moment in the shade with a book, but she was quickly distracted by the busy garden. It’s rather mesmerizing to watch them work, the path slowly taking its shape. She keeps her eyes on the workers scurrying about, a particular guard having caught her attention.
Terrin stretches his arms after putting down yet another stack of bricks. He takes in a deep breath, wiping his forehead. The warmth and direct sunlight paired with the physical labour makes for quite the hot and sweaty experience. Most of the workers took off their shirts earlier to deal with the heat. Adette doesn’t complain, her eyes lingering on her partner.
Terrin says a few words to another guard, Adette can’t hear them, but she smiles lightly when she sees them both laugh. The other worker starts placing the bricks in their designated spot, and Terrin turns to go and gather more. Adette watches him as he walks past her, too busy with his task to notice her. She can see the light sunburn on top of his shoulders from her slightly elevated position.
Her gaze stays on him when he picks up another small stack of bricks. His muscles tense with the weight of them, her eyes follow the way his back and shoulder muscles shift as they adjust to the load. Terrin lets out a heavy sigh, a drop of sweat runs down the side of his face. Adette drinks in the sight of his strained and concentrated facial expression, paired with his red-tinted, bare chest. She hums lightly to herself, gaze still following him as he carries the bricks over to the path. The muscles in his arms tense once again as he puts the bricks down. It’s a side of Terrin she doesn’t see often, so she makes sure to really savor the moment.
Her focus stays on Terrin as he continues to work, her mind wandering, unperceptive to everything else around her. She can feel her face fluster when she hears Terrin laugh, and she chuckles lightly at the following bicker from Vihaan. Terrin pats him on the back, before continuing with his tasks. Adette continues to monitor, keeping her eyes on him. The sweat on his chest makes it glisten in the bright sunlight.
“Can I help you, my lady?”
Adette takes a moment to snap herself out of her distracted state. Terrin has stopped in front of her, looking up at her on the patio. His expression is a mix of curiosity and amusement. She can feel her face fluster with the realization of how obvious her gaze must have been. Before she gets the chance to explain herself, Vihaan appears beside Terrin with a smug grin.
“Yes, my lady, anything we can do for you? If not, I believe I need to ask you to give us some space here. You’re going to distract Terrin if you continue with that gawking.”
Terrin chuckles slightly.
“I’m not gawking,” Adette scoffs. “I’m just, uh, supervising.”
Vihaan’s grin grows even wider.
“If you say so, my lady,” he hums.
Adette squints her eyes at him, before her expression softens as she looks back at Terrin.
“My apologies for distracting you, my love,” she says, but Terrin shakes his head.
“No worries, my lady,” he smiles. “We were just about to take a break.”
“We were thinking of taking a quick dip in the lake!” Vihaan says with excitement. “Terrin certainly won’t mind if you choose to join us, my lady.”
Vihaan’s grin doesn’t falter for even a second when Terrin playfully pushes him.
“Pardon me, I’m right here,” Terrin grins. “I can speak for myself, thank you very much.”
Adette laughs as the two of them continue their pushes and bickering.
“That sounds lovely,” she says, and Terrin looks up at her with a pleased smile. He has Vihaan’s head locked in the crook of his arm, his face is calm despite Vihaan squirming in his grip. “I’d be very happy to join you, indeed,” Adette continues, keeping her laughter down. “Although, I would like to change to some swimwear before I come with you.”
“Of course, my lady. Would you like for me to wait for you?”
Adette shakes her head.
“No need, thank you Terrin. You and Vihaan go on ahead, I’ll catch up with you shortly.”
Vihaan slithers out of Terrin’s grip, and Adette chuckles again when he runs, Terrin following shortly after.
-------
Adette quickly makes her way back to her chambers. She changes into some swimwear, and picks out a light dress she can drape over it, a simple ribbon tied around her waist to keep it in place. She also grabs a towel, before finally tying her hair up in a tight bun. It’s been too hot with it down anyways.
On her way out, she’s greeted by Othelia in the hallway.
“Greetings, my lady,” she smiles. “That’s a lovely dress you have there. Are you about to head out?”
“Greetings, Othelia,” Adette smiles back. “I’m on my way to the lake, Terrin and Vihaan are waiting for me there. Would you perhaps want to join us?”
Othelia snickers.
“That sounds like fun. I’m not due for a break yet, however.”
Adette waves her hand in front of her.
“Oh please, I’m certain it’s fine. What’s on your tasklist today?”
“Dishes, mostly,” Othelia shrugs.
Adette nods.
“That settles it, you’re coming with me.”
“I better not get in any trouble, then” Othelia laughs. “And you are definitely not allowed to fire me for skipping work.”
“Deal,” Adette says. “Should I wait while you change?”
Othelia just shakes her head.
“It’s fine, I couldn’t be bothered.”
Adette answers with a tease in her tone.
“Are you planning to swim in your underwear, right in front of my fiance?”
“Hah, like that would do anything,” Othelia laughs. “Terrin’s eyes will be glued to only you, or his own feet. He’s the least of my worries.”
“Vihaan, then?”
“We both know he cannot be trusted.”
They laugh, not able to keep a straight face any longer.
“Let’s get going,” Adette finally says, the two of them heading out together.
-------
Adette and Othelia meet the others by the edge of the forest.
“Othelia!” Terrin and Vihaan exclaim when they see them. Another guard is with them, Alvina, and she also smiles. Her shirt is also off, undoubtedly because of the warmth, she’s wearing a simple, flexible bra instead.
“Othelia, thank the stars you’re here,” she sighs dramatically. “I can’t with these boys, now I don’t have to be the only girl here, uh-”
She suddenly turns towards Adette.
"Sorry, I- uh, greetings, my lady," she says awkwardly. Adette has to hold back a chuckle.
"Please, no need for such formalities," she reassures. "I didn’t join you expecting courtesy."
"I'll choose to believe you didn't just look at me when you said that," Vihaan pouts playfully.
They head into the forest together, following the path to the small lake hidden within the trees. The three guards walk ahead, and Adette and Othelia follow closely behind.
"I'm so warm," Vihaan groans. "I'm sweating my balls off."
"Ew, don't talk about your balls, dude," Alvina huffs. "That's the best part of being a lesbian. No balls."
“Nah, you’re missing out,” Vihaan brags. “My balls are great.”
Alvina gags dramatically.
“There’s no one here who believes you, Vihaan,” Othelia joins in. “None of us has seen your balls.”
“Terrin has probably seen them,” Vihaan shrugs, and looks expectingly at Terrin.
“I beg you,” Terrin sighs in response. “Stop talking about your balls.”
“I need this conversation to end,” Alvina huffs. “So please shut up and get going. I’ll collapse from a heatstroke if I don’t get in the water soon.”
They arrive at the lake, the clearing letting the hot sunlight in through the trees. The water glistens, it looks inviting indeed. There's a small dock by the shoreline, reaching out into the water, far enough for it to be safe to jump off of.
Adette is the only one in the group wearing actual swimwear, but that doesn’t stop any of them from undressing. Underwear works well enough, they're all friends here.
Terrin takes his shoes off, and starts to grab the lining of his pants, but suddenly tenses and glances nervously over at Adette. A fluster creeps over his face, and he tries to pull the pants down as casually as he can.
“Getting flustered, my love?” she hums amused, and Terrin tenses even more.
“He’s just embarrassed you’ll stare at his ass,” Vihaan teases, and Terrin sends him a flustered glare.
“Oh, I’ll make sure my staring goes unnoticed,” she teases back.
“What-” Terrin yelps, and Adette chuckles.
He manages to get the pants off, and Adette tries her best indeed to look so the others don't notice. It didn’t go well for her earlier in the garden, so she's more careful now.
Alvina and Othelia follow, taking off their clothes. Their underwear is appropriate enough, but Adette still snickers quietly to herself at Vihaan’s reaction. He does not try to hide his stare, if he's even aware of it himself. His eyes widen as he watches Othelia, and a fluster spreads on his face. The others don't seem to notice, Terrin occupied flustering from earlier, and Alvina and Othelia are busy folding their clothes.
Not even Vihaan is immune to some fluttering feelings, it seems, Adette thinks, and she chuckles to herself again.
Vihaan quickly snaps out of it, still seemingly unaware of his reaction, and he turns towards the lake.
"Last one in the water changes the sheets!" Vihaan suddenly yells as he punches Terrin on the shoulder, and bolts towards the edge of the dock.
"Wha- I do that anyway!" Terrin runs after him, reaching out his arm, barely grazing Vihaan’s back before he jumps into the lake. Terrin follows shortly after, barely avoiding pummeling into Vihaan.
Alvina is quick to follow, though they make sure to not tackle the others already in the water. Adette stays on the dock, laughing at the energy of the group. Othelia observes them, looking for an opening to jump in with them. She sends Adette an expecting glance, a confident smile on her face.
“Watch this,” she hums, before she sprints towards the edge of the dock.
The water splashes everywhere as she unelegantly throws herself into the lake. Alvina cheers, and Terrin and Vihaan raise their arms to shield themselves from the water.
"Not bad, huh?" she snickers when the water settles, and she clumsily paddles to keep herself afloat. Othelia has never been a great swimmer, Adette remembers.
"You've clearly learned from the best," Vihaan brags, and Terrin laughs before he swims over to her.
"Here."
He reaches his arm out, and Othelia grabs it to stay afloat. Then he swims closer to the shore, carefully dragging Othelia with him, until they both stand firmly on the sandy ground.
"Thanks, Terrin," Othelia says, before she turns to Adette up on the dock.
"Sorry my lady, but I might actually have to go for your man," she grins. "He's a real charmer, isn't he?"
"I suppose it can't be helped," Adette sighs. "But then I won't be able to continue our truce and keep you out of trouble for skipping your shift."
Othelia shrugs.
"Damn, fair point. Sorry Terrin, our secret affair won't reveal itself today either, I'm afraid."
Othelia cracks up when she sees Terrin laugh. Vihaan swims over to them.
"Are you having secret affairs without me?" he says shocked. "That's not fair, I'd be a perfect addition to your relationship. I’m so charming!"
"I'll show you charming," Othelia grins, before she throws herself at Vihaan, pulling them both into the water. Terrin laughs and raises his arms to shield himself from their splashing, before he quickly retreats and climbs up onto the dock.
"My apologies, my lady," he chuckles.
"No apologies needed," she hums in return. "I knew what I signed up for when I agreed to join you."
She puts her towel down and starts to untie the ribbon around her waist, but pauses when Terrin approaches.
"I know you want to help, my love," she chuckles. "But you're soaking wet. Stay there."
Terrin stops and shrugs apologetically, the water indeed dripping from his hair and trickling down his legs down onto the dock.
"Yes, my lady."
She continues with the ribbon on her dress, and she smiles slightly to herself at the way Terrin is quietly watching her. The ribbon loosens, and she pulls the dress over her head.
She intentionally turns herself slightly so Terrin can see her back more clearly. Her bathing suit is a dark purple color, the strings over her shoulders meet in a simple bow around her neck, leaving her back almost entirely exposed. The cut is low on the back, reaching down to her waist. She glances over at Terrin, and chuckles quietly at his widened eyes and flustered face.
“You're staring~” she sings, and Terrin tenses comically before he looks away. He's about to apologize, but Vihaan interrupts from the water.
“Come on, Terrin, now you're gawking. Get over here already, I want to race!”
Terrin looks back at Adette for approval, and she chuckles quietly, before she nods for him to join the others.
Terrin jumps into the water, avoiding Vihaan this time, and Adette watches as they get in position for the race. Alvina also joins, bobbing slightly in the water in anticipation.
“I want a fair game,” Othelia says, raising her hand to symbolize the finish line. “You will swim to the big rock by the shore over there, and return here. No funny business, no cheating. Are we all ready?”
Vihaan cheers, Alvina stills her bobbing, and Terrin looks at the rock with determination in his eyes.
“Ready, set…” Othelia pauses for just a second and chuckles quietly at the way Vihaan holds himself back. “Go!”
The three guards disappear in the splashing caused by their leap, Othelia almost losing her balance. Adette watches as they race towards the rock. Terrin falls behind, not quite able to keep up with Alvina, but he’s not far behind. They’re already a fair distance behind Vihaan though, they probably won’t be able to catch up.
As they continue, Adette makes her way off of the dock and onto the small, sandy shore. She takes a few steps into the water, watching as her feet sink into the sand. She continues, but briefly stops when the water reaches her hips as a gentle shiver goes through her. The water is cool and refreshing, but it still takes a moment or two to get used to, despite the warm weather. She takes a few more steps, ignoring the chill, before she submerges herself completely, only her head peeking out from over the water. She feels the warm sunshine on her face, the water’s temperature starting to feel quite comfortable.
“It’s nice, right?” Alvina says, suddenly by Adette’s side.
“Indeed,” Adette nods, standing up properly so the water only reaches up to her chest. “I imagine it was much needed for you who’s been working in the sun all day.”
“Oh, absolutely.”
“How’d the race go?” Adette asks, and Alvina’s content expression turns into annoyance.
“Vihaan completely destroyed us,” she grumbles, before she chuckles. “I beat your husband though.”
“Not my husband yet,” Adette corrects with a chuckle. “But congratulations on your silver medal. Maybe you’ll beat Vihaan next time?”
“I don’t know about that, my lady,” Alvina huffs. “Maybe if I learn to polymorph first.”
“I’d say that would be against the rules,” Othelia adds.
“And whose rules are these again?” Alvina snickers.
“Mine, of course,” Othelia smiles confidently. “If you want me as a judge, you’ll play by my rules. Polymorphing has to be its own category.”
Their break continues on, all five of them enjoying the cool water and warm sunlight. Adette takes a few, slow laps around the lake, trying her best to avoid getting too much water in her hair. It takes forever to dry.
The others joined Adette’s calm swimming for about six minutes, before they couldn’t stand the boredom any longer and started another competition. Adette pauses and watches them from the sideline as they get ready for what seems to be a wrestling match. Terrin and Alvina have their feet planted on the lake floor, stance wide and stable. Vihaan sits on Terrin’s shoulders, Terrin’s grip locked around Vihaan’s legs, whose arms are out and ready to get Othelia on Alvina’s shoulders.
“We’re gonna absolutely crush them,” Othelia grins, and Vihaan grins in return.
“Careful with the confidence, Othelia,” he hums. “Terrin and I can practically read each other's minds.”
"My lady, make sure to cheer for Terrin real good," Othelia shouts to her, before she sends Vihaan an evil look. "That'll definitely distract him."
"Do not fall for your lady's lure, Terrin!" Vihaan fights back. "I know she's beautiful, but I need your focus here."
Terrin glances over to look at Adette, and she waves with a sweet smile.
"Good luck, my love," she hums, and Terrin looks away as a fluster creeps over his face.
"I might not be able to restrain her charm, Vihaan," Terrin huffs. "I'm too weak."
"You're not!" Vihaan shouts. "I believe in you! Now, let's begin."
Both teams start with confidence, but Adette quickly has to hold her laughter back as she watches them. They all envisioned it would be easy to topple the other team, but none predicted how difficult tower wrestling in the water would be.
Alvina and Terrin both struggle to keep their balance as they move around, trying to match the movement of their partners above them, all while keeping both feet firmly on the sandy ground. Moving in the water is difficult enough as it is, without the weight of a whole other person on their shoulders.
The upper part struggles just as much. Vihaan and Othelia lashes out for the other, but they also struggle to keep their balance and stay on their partner's shoulders. They have to trust the lower half of their team to both move where they want, and keep them safely out of the water.
Alvina and Othelia are better at moving together, but Terrin and Vihaan are a bigger threat whenever they get within reach. Neither team really has the courage to stay within reach for long however, one or the other always backs out and pulls away before the other gets the chance to topple them.
"Just admit defeat!" Alvina shouts.
She takes a step closer so Othelia can swing her arms in Vihaan's direction. Vihaan yelps as he leans away, and Terrin tightens his grip to keep him from falling off.
"Let me move, Vihaan," Terrin complains. "You just focus on Othelia."
With determination in his eyes, Vihaan reaches his arm out, but it barely grazes Othelia's arm.
"Then you have to move, Terrin!"
Alvina tuts her tongue, and Othelia sends them a teasing look.
"This doesn't seem to be working in your favor," Othelia snickers. "What happened to your ability to read each other's minds?"
"His mind's going rouge!" Terrin shouts before he yelps, trying once again to keep his balance as Vihaan reaches out. He flails his arms, but Alvina takes a controlled step back, pulling Othelia out of reach.
"Dammit, this isn't working," Vihaan mumbles. "If we go down, we'll take them with us!"
"Wait, what," Terrin manages to mumble before Vihaan shouts:
"Terrin, forward!"
Despite his lack of understanding, Terrin pushes forward with all his might, Vihaan opening his arms and wrapping them around Othelia. She screeches as Vihaan restrains her, before he pulls them all, Terrin and Alvina included, off balance. Both teams topple and crash into the water.
"Victory!" Vihaan celebrates when he breaks the water surface again. Othelia heaves with laughter, barely keeping herself afloat by holding onto Vihaan's shoulders.
"You made us all lose, you absolute idiot," she laughs. "Dumbass!"
"You didn't win, so I'll count that as a success," Vihaan grins back, reaching his arm around Othelia's waist. "Here, let me help you princess."
"Ooh, careful with the nicknames," Othelia snickers, but she allows Vihaan to partially pick her up and swim them both closer to the shore.
Adette locks eyes with Alvina, and they share a knowing glance. Vihaan and Othelia's flirting is quite obvious for everyone but themselves, it seems.
Vihaan and Othelia pass her to get closer to the shore, and Adette follows. The water is nice, but so is the sunlight. Maybe she'll enjoy it on the dock a bit before they leave.
"Ow!" A sharp and sudden pain stings in Adette's foot. All the guards' heads immediately snap towards her, instinctively by the outburst. They quickly see that there's no danger, but Terrin is by her side in a second, a worried look on his face.
“Are you alright?”
“Ah, yes,” Adette mumbles. “I must’ve stepped on something.”
“Here, let me help you,” he says as he lends his arm to her.
Terrin helps Adette out of the water, and they sit down on the edge of the dock together.
“May I?” Terrin asks, his hand hovering over Adette’s injured leg, and she nods. They sit beside each other, Adette places her foot over her other knee, so both her and Terrin can see the cut easily. The underside of her foot is almost completely covered with blood, despite the lack of pain.
“I think it looks more dramatic than it actually is,” Terrin says after a quick inspection. “You’re covered in water, and the blood is mixing with it. Does it hurt much?”
He looks at her, a slight worry in his eyes, and Adette shakes her head.
“Barely,” she says. “I think I just stepped on a rock.”
“I might have some bandages with me, actually,” Alvina says from the water. “They should be with my clothes.”
Terrin looks over to the folded clothes, and quickly gets up. He rummages through them, and pulls out a small roll of bandages, before he joins Adette once more.
“Thank you, Alvina,” Terrin smiles.
“No problem,” they answer, before they turn back towards Othelia and Vihaan. “Now, Othelia, let’s get to that wrestling rematch, shall we?”
“Wha-?” Vihaan responds confused. “That’s so unfair, I’m alone!”
But Othelia is already on Alvina’s shoulders, and the water splashes dramatically as Vihaan tries to swim away from them. Terrin and Adette chuckles at their banter, before Terrin starts to wrap the bandages around Adette’s foot.
“Let me know if it hurts,” Terrin says, but Adette shakes her head.
“You're alright,” she says.
She watches quietly as Terrin wraps the bandages. It does sting a bit, but she doesn't say anything about it. The bandage turns red as it soaks in the water, but the color disappears the more the bandage is wrapped around her.
Terrin fastens the bandage by tying a knot. He's leaned in close to get a good look, and Adette also leans closer and places a soft kiss to his cheek when he's done. He glances up at her as he flusters slightly, and she sends him a sweet smile.
“Thank you,” she says quietly, Terrin is only able to hear her because of how close they sit. He smiles back, and his hand finds hers.
“Of course, my lady,” he says, just as quiet. He strokes his thumb over her hand, before he lifts it and presses a gentle kiss to her knuckles.
His lips linger, and Adette smiles again.
“Forgive me for staring at you earlier,” she says softly. “I didn't mean to distract you.”
Terrin looks at her, and answers with a quiet chuckle.
“You didn't distract me,” he says. “Vihaan was exaggerating.”
“I know,” Adette chuckles in return. “But still, I wasn't exactly discreet. I can do better at not being so obvious.”
“It's alright, my lady,” Terrin smiles. “You can stare at me more later when we're alone.”
“I'll hold you accountable to those words, then,” Adette hums, before she leans even closer.
Their lips meet in a sweet kiss. Adette tilts her head, and Terrin hums quietly. She can't help the slight smile in the corner of her mouth, and it mirrors on Terrin's lips. He continues to run his thumb over her hand, the gesture just as sweet.
Their moment doesn't last long, they're interrupted by an overdramatic gagging noise from the water.
"Can't leave these two alone," Vihaan huffs when they turn to angrily look at him. "Turn around for even a moment and you're already ripping each other's clothes off."
"That's not what's happening!" Terrin yells in return, already starting to stand up to go after him.
Vihaan backs away confidently when Terrin jumps into the water, thinking he's about to escape smoothly, but he doesn't see Alvina behind him. She grabs and restrains him, and Vihaan wriggles dramatically as Terrin approaches. Adette has to laugh at the water splashing everywhere, Alvina and Terrin seemingly partnering up against Vihaan.
“Don't drown him!” Othelia shouts to them, before she sits down besides Adette.
“I don't think they'll actually drown him,” Adette chuckles.
“Terrin won't,” Othelia shrugs. “I don't know if I would trust Alvina, however.”
They sit in silence as they observe the others. Vihaan manages to escape at some point, and Terrin and Alvina bolt after him in the water to get him.
"I was right," Othelia suddenly says, and Adette looks to her.
"About what?"
"About Terrin," she snickers. "He's been staring at you a lot, indeed. Or shyly averting his eyes. I don’t think he’s given my outfit a second thought.”
Adette chuckles.
"I was also right, then," Adette hums.
"Oh?"
"About Vihaan," she says with a smug smile. "Did you not see his face when you undressed earlier?"
"I didn't," Othelia chuckles.
"He was flustering almost as much as Terrin," Adette huffs. "I don't think he's even aware of his own feelings. Terrin seems to think he's not, at least."
Othelia snickers.
"You think so?"
"Have you not noticed?" Adette chuckles in surprise. "You're the best at spotting things like this. Are you immune to gossip about yourself?"
Othelia hums thoughtfully as she looks at the others in the water.
"I suppose I just haven't thought much about it."
Adette leans in closer, the smug smile back on her face.
"So?" she hums.
"So, what?"
"So, how do you feel?"
Othelia looks away, trying to hide her fluster away with a smile.
"Is this an interrogation?"
"I'm asking you as a friend."
"You shouldn't make friends with your employees, my lady," Othelia grins mockingly.
"And what, ignore you all every day?" she answers with an equally playful tone.
"Aren't the nobles from our neighbouring regions fun enough for you?" Othelia says, and she laughs when Adette groans.
"Please, they're so full of themselves," she sighs as she pinches the bridge of her nose. "Their pride is way too far up their bum."
They both break into laughter.
“Who's bum are we laughing at?” Vihaan joins, climbing out of the water.
“Yours,” Othelia says with a dry tone, standing up to avoid him and all the water dripping off of him.
“Damn,” Vihaan huffs, and he starts to squeeze the water out of his ponytail.
“We should head back,” Terrin says as he and Alvina also join them. “..perhaps you should return to your shift as well, Othelia? I don't know how long your truce with the Lady lasts.”
They all look at Adette, and she casually leans back on her hands, a smug smile on her face.
“A mystery, indeed,” she hums, and Othelia lets out a shocked laugh.
“Oh shit, yeah Terrin, it seems I'm joining you,” she laughs nervously, and Adette holds back a chuckle.
“I'll join you, as well,” she says.
Terrin hands her her dress after she's dried herself. The others didn't bring towels, but the sun is strong enough to get rid of most of the water.
“Thank you, my love,” she says, and he smiles. She offers her hand to him, and he happily takes it.
As they walk back, Adette sees Othelia and Vihaan bicker on the path in front of them. Vihaan says something, and Othelia playfully pushes him. She thinks about her and Othelia’s conversation earlier, and the fact that Othelia never answered her question about Vihaan. I wonder what that's about.
Othelia hurries inside when they arrive back in the garden. Alvina and Vihaan also return to their tasks, but Terrin stays just a bit longer.
“How's your foot?” he asks.
“It's alright, I barely feel it,” Adette smiles in return.
“That's good,” he smiles back, before he looks over to the others working. “I should get going.”
“I'll see you later, my love,” she hums, before Terrin walks over to the brick path. Adette returns to her original spot on the patio, watching over the working garden.
